Robot Wars Unveiled
A project that I wanted to do for some time, serving as a sister show to my "Did you Know Doctor Who" series is a basic fact file on every Robot Wars episode. Admittingly this idea was meant to pop up much earlier but I have been busy and thus unable to contribute to this series (for example the epically long Aerith vs Tifa script, Mechanical Madness Season 2.0 and well working) but as I type this the first two episodes are done, only one has been uploaded and is already up on the wiki. I've used trivia points, websites, the show and even had a few conversations with Roboteers about the upcoming episodes to give a fact file for, some have more than others and some like Series 6 Heat A or Series 7 Heat I are ones I have personal experience …
Robot Wars 1998 (proposed US events)
Following the conclusion of the 1997 US Robot Wars competition, a fifth US event of this kind was originally planned to take place in San Francisco on August 14-16 1998. Due to a legal dispute between founder Marc Thorpe and event partner Profile Records - the original co-owners of the Robot Wars Inc. joint venture - the event would ultimately not materialize. The ramifications of the dispute also lead to a televised replacement event, to have been produced by Mentorn and the BBC, being cancelled during the planning stages.
The original event proposed by Thorpe, commonly titled Robot Wars 1998 or Robot Wars '98
It would not be until 1999 when Mentorn and the BBC began hosting, recording and releasing similar events featuring US teams, as part of fi…

Ragnabot 4 Preparation
Ragnabot 4 is on the way, and we have quite a few decisions to make regarding format and entry lists. Use this blog's comments to ask or answer questions, to debate the viability of certain robots and formats or make any other suggestions to make Ragnabot 4 worthy of being a thing.

Ragnabot 3 took place with 24 heats of 32 robots, with 34 qualifier battles (should have been 36). This included all robots from Featherweight upwards, while Rantnabot was held sperately with the Antweights.
Ragnabot 4 will be run slightly differently. RNG will be involved in some way (changes to the current system are still TBD), which is already a strong change from previous versions of the format. We will be add…

NOTE: Alexander's forfeit from the Middleweight Face-Off is considered to be a loss. Alexander's Melee, where it survived the full duration, is also treated as a win.
The UK and US Series records are reflective of team captain Dan Danknick only.
- According to the Team Delta website, Alexander was at one point considered as a invitational entry for Robot Wars: The First Wars. Had this gone ahead, this would have made it one of the few US Robot Wars competitors to have competed in the UK television show. Ultimately, the 'opportunity' for Alexander to compete would not materialize.

Autonomous Robots
While the majority of Robot Wars robots were operated by humans using radio control systems, autonomous systems and technologies were occasionally implemented by competitors in earlier events.
The 1995-1997 US competitions - predating the televised show - featured its own classes and events for fully-autonomous machines. Usually, the latter consisted of a single battle involving no more than two robots. Robots to achieve success in these included Gladiator Rodney (1996) and Thumper (1997). | |}

Grand Final Runts
Back in 2018, I was trying to make a series about Robot Wars called Robot Wars Hot Takes, which was just me talking about things pertaining to robot combat that I liked or disliked. I made one episode about Chaos 2 and then didn't make anything RW related for nearly four years. I still have the script for what would have been the 2nd episode (and I might still make it into a video), but here's the (mostly unchanged) script, in fandom form. Beautiful. The Grand Final is a very tense moment of any series of classic Robot Wars, after a bunch of heats, two Series Semi Finals, we're left with the final four. But if there's once thing that I've noticed in nearly every perentheses classic series, there's always one robot out of the four that you j…

- Of the 1997 Face-Off champions, Vicious-1 was the only one to have lost, then fought through the Loser's Bracket.
- Due to the 'double elimination' format of the 1997 Face-Offs, Vicious-1 was the only champion from the pre-televised era to have incurred a loss in its championship ru…
Cheltenham 2023
Once again another year, another tournament. Sure I went to see AWS earlier and even met CombatWombat in real life, which was all fun, but these are big nasty heavyweights! Admittingly, I didn't get much sleep the night prior and had the worst headache while watching this show (Gabriel's swinging sword didn't make things better!) There was also an annoying child behind who never stopped kicking my chair, however, that did not take away from what was a much better tournament than the year prior. Last year was kinda meh and disappointing, this year, a massive improvement! The spinner battles were brutal with Donal Thump getting scalped (literally!) and probably my personal favourite hightlight, KING B! King B fought Ripper and did very well,…

1997 US Championship Draft
The 1997 US Robot Wars Championship, also known simply as Robot Wars 1997
- Best Engineering: Blendo
- Strangest: Snake
- Prior to the Loser's Brackets, the 'preliminary' match schedules for the Featherweight Face-Off originally listed Spike II to fight against Dough Boy in the Quarter-Finals. However, this was changed for unknown reasons, with the duo facing The Fishstick from Guam and Bob Smith respectively in the finalized draws.

My Memories of the Robot Wars Live Event in Birmingham 2nd August 2001
First of all, I wish to thank all the other wiki users for their research into the Robot Wars 2001 Live Event Tour as their findings have helped me to recall the majority of my memories from attending the Birmingham leg of the Series 5 Qualifiers. I went with my father to what I think must have been the evening event. I am guessing in hindsight there must have been events earlier on in the day as well as the day before because how else could Kan-Opener have fought as many as 5 robots during the entirety of the event as the team's archived website claims?
I say this because I did see Kan-Opener fight at this event but only once, against 8645T. My account of the battle is pretty much the same as is already documented on this wiki, except Kan-…
Prizes
Throughout the run of Robot Wars, various prizes were handed out to teams that won competitions and side events or were given out as awards. Prizes mostly came in the form of trophies, but other variations such as belts were also handed out on occasion. Prizes were a wide variety of sizes and designs, with the largest ones being given to the teams that claimed victory in the main championships. All of the prizes given out throughout the history of Robot Wars, including the international series, are listed here.

Wiki Canon Series - Thoughts di Heresy
Another blog giving basic thoughts on the competitors in Wiki Canon Series 6, the sixth layer of Robo-Hell, and if they'll return or not, whether they'll have a change or remain the same.
- The Alien: Returns, Unchanged, Better armour? - Not too great for The Alien but then again in real life it wasn't too special having really not done brilliantly throughout its run, still worse that real life but should return...maybe with an upgrade to make it better?
- Kat 3: Returns, Unchanged, Guaranteed - I doubt anyone's itching to get rid of Kat 3 so early, besides the Series 7 one is a MASSIVE improvement.
- The Hassock's Hog: Returns, Unchanged, Guaranteed - Unless we bring in allstars like Razer, Chaos 2, Dominator 2, Hypno-Disc etc for Series 7 no change…

Ranking the Dutch Wars
I probably should finish the X-Terminator blog but I really don't like that one so much and so something I've been wanting to do for a while, similar to my "Ranking Every Robot Wars Competitor" list is "Ranking Every Robot Wars Episode Ever". Now I've already done Series 1, The Reboot, Series 5 and Series 4 as well as a top ten best (which kinda spoils things) but before I do do a massive compilation, I am instead doing them in series by series and with the announcement of Dutch Wars being in HD (at least Series 1) I thought why not do the Dutch Series as it's underrated series and with 12 episodes it should be easy to rank (sure there's Extreme Warriors and Nickelodeon but I wanna put them together in one big list) As per usual it's worst…
Ranking the Extreme 1 Mayhems
AlloIAmHogwild94andright, so, in his excellent Top 50 episodes list, Jimlaad suggested that someone do a list ranking the Extreme 1 'Mayhem' battles. Now, 15(!) years ago, this is something teenage me would've done on the spot, and not properly with battles in a very odd and biased order indeed! Now, 28 years and 364 days old me is going to have a go (not least because I need something to keep me going through yet more tough times at the moment).
But first, I'd like to share with you...

Robot Wars World Championships - All 27 Fights Ranked
Hello, everybody. It's been a long, long time since I've indulged in some Robot Wars Wikia blog content. And, well, I would love to say that I've been meticulously planning a blog entry for a while, whittling down a list over many months, sweating over every fine detail until the last minute to add some sort of narrative of why I haven't made a blog for a long time for the beginning of this post, but the reality is that I've read a few old blogs lately and just felt like doing one myself to be honest - nothing special.
Nevertheless, I can say that Jimlaad's Top 50 Episodes blog that did surprisingly place The First World Championship in 50th place gave me the nudge needed to ask myself if I have glorified some of the fights from that iconic…
The top 50 Robot Wars episodes of all time
Ranking Blogs have always been a mainstay of the wiki, and a great place for discussion. Everyone has opinions, and no matter how much you can explain something or put numbers to justify, in the end it's all subjective. Basically the best way to determine an official order is to get in there first and write about it before anyone else. The comments section are, however, always fantastic areas of discussion, contribution and extra information that may have been missed.
I bring this all up because this list I am embarking on has been through a bunch of names as I planned it. Initially, this was to be a Tier List of episodes in a series. This was a good idea, but would have had a lot to talk about. Following this, I focused on just the top few…
Robot Wars Controversies
As a televised competition, Robot Wars was subject to several controversies across its run. Although some of these happened backstage and were not seen by the viewing public, several matches and other significant moments were televised that were subsequently addressed as controversial. These controversies could occur across a single episode, or sometimes be addressed across an entire, or occasionally multiple, series.
NOTE: Controversies are often very subjective, with even show personalities disagreeing on whether a fight was controversial or not. As a result, fights or moments listed must be significantly seen as controversial on the televised show or in officially-released media. Controversies which were not broadcast are not included.

Happy anniversary!
Hello everyone. Long time no see. For those who don't know me, I started this wiki on 18th February 2008, exactly 15 years ago today. Having been away for five years, I thought today was the perfect day to check back in and see how everyone is doing. It's great to see the wiki still going strong after all these years with contributions from new and old users alike, some of whom I know from the very early days.
I'd just like to say happy 15th anniversary to everybody here and thank you all for all the contributions you've made to the wiki over that time.
First and Last Opponents
As I've been uploading videos of the first and last battles of the well-known Robot Wars competitors on my YouTube channel as well as Toast making his Sporacle quiz, I thought I'd make a tally of the first and last opponent(s) of all the big names in Robot Wars. I'll be using NJGW's 100 Icons order as I still think that's a perfect way to list them all in terms of 'pecking order' so to speak. So here they are.
Sporcle Quiz - 100 Robots by their First and Last Opponents
Now then folks, for the second time ever I've had a crack at making a Robot Wars themed Sporcle quiz, no doubt best enjoyed by the superfans such as yourselves!
A total of 100 robots, well-known and otherwise, are listed by who they fought in their first and final battles on the show. If either of these battles was a melee with multiple robots in it, I've only picked one to include in the clue, usually the one that makes it harder!
To give one away as a free example, if a robot's first opponent was Terror Turtle and their final opponent was Cathadh, then the answer must be Eruption. Various robots involved Terror Turtle in their debut battle such as Mute and Cygnus X-1, but only one had its final battle be against Cathadh. Eruption also fought…
