101 is a heavyweight robot that competed in Series 3, 4 and 5 of Robot Wars, achieving one semi final in that time. The team had previously entered with Robo Doc and would later enter with Anarchy, the most successful walker bot ever. 101 makes its first of three video game appearances in the Game Boy Advance game Robot Wars: Advanced Destruction, it would late appear in both versions of Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction.

Appearance and Armament

The replica of 101 produced in this game is relatively faithful to the real life version, sporting the same curved box shape, with a moving spike, and tracks. The robot's paint job also reflects the real life equivalent, grey with yellow and black by the tracks.

The main weapon is the automatic firing spike, which is referred to as a 200mph spike, but in truth probably fired much slower than this. Unlike real life, the spike is manually operated. The spike is reasonably powerful, and certainly causes more damage than real life.

101 is an unlockable robot within the game- in order to unlock it, you must beat it at least once in Championship Mode.

Strategies

Using 101

101 works well as a pushing robot, in addition to the overpowered spike. It is therefore advisable to push robots against hazards, or into the CPZs, whilst using the spike to cause damage.

Against 101

Like all invertible robots, 101 is somewhat more vulnerable to getting stuck against walls, so flipping them against the edges of the arena is a useful tactic. Other than that, repeatedly flipping 101 will eventually cause it to break down.

Differences between the Game and Real Life

  • The spike does more damage than real life, and is activated manually
  • The body shape is taller and more curved
  • The spike protrudes further
