For the Italian dub of Robot Wars, Andrea Lucchetta would present the show in place of Craig Charles, as well as commentating over battles. Lucchetta would often appear in unique segments to explain the format of the episode and help transition between fights. He would typically present either in the main presenting booth, or in a smaller mock-up of the arena façade.

Interestingly, he did not fill in as pit reporter as Swedish presenter Micke Dubois did for the Swedish dub of the show. Phillippa Forrester's interview segments often remained, but were dubbed over in Italian by an unknown female voice.

Outside Robot Wars[]

Beyond Robot Wars, Lucchetta had a successful career in volleyball. He often played middle-blocker due to his 6'6" frame, retiring in 2000.[1]

Nicknamed "Crazy Lucky" for his unique hairstyle, Lucchetta won five Italian titles with his team Panini Moderna (nowadays called Modena Volley) as well as an Olympic bronze medal representing Italy in 1984.

Post retirement, Lucchetta featured in a documentary about Italy's road to becoming volleyball World Champions in 1990, titled Il Grande Slam - Generazione di fenomeni.

Nowadays, Lucchetta works as a sports commentator for Italian sports channel Rai Sport. He also leads a volleyball summer camp, coaching children up to 17 years old to play the sport overseen by Lucchetta himself, as well as qualified staff.[2]
