- — Jayne Middlemiss
Araknia was a robot clad in carbon fibre and fibreglass, which "might as well be cardboard" according to the team captain. It was a large heptagonal robot designed to look like a spider because it was the only thing that the team captain Geoff Graham could think of and make look 'sensible', apart from a rat . Its weapon was a spinning blade with rare earth magnets, almost identical to the one on its brother robot Riptilion. Araknia's armour of choice allowed it to be easily dominated by Hellbent in its first round battle.
As well as fighting with Araknia in Series 7, the Terror-Dactyls fought with Riptilion in Series 6 and Extreme 2, as well as representing New Zealand in the Third World Championship.
In the Series 7 qualifiers, Araknia was measured as 5 centimetres over the width limit, so part of it had to be cut off with a hacksaw. It then fought Typhoon 2, Big Nipper and Ewe 2 for a place in Series 7. Araknia became immoblised during the fight, but received a discretionary place in the main competition.
