"We decided it was time to improve Artros, so he would be ready for the American Robot Wars, or Robot Wars International Competition, or if Battlebots sorted themselves out ... then we would be ready for heavyweight competition."
— Team Artros

Artros was a competitor robot that attempted to enter Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors Season 2 and The Seventh Wars. It was built as a school project and had more or less completed the robot, bar the armour and weapons, however Extreme Warriors had been cancelled before they had a chance to enter while their attempt for the Seventh Wars is unknown for their design wasn't fully completed, regardless they did not appear.

The team were originally from Jersey in the Channel Islands, and had brought and completed most of the robot's internals as a school project there before moving to Canada with the robot, repurposing the school project for BattleBots before that show was cancelled. The team therefore setting sights on Extreme Warriors and Series 7 of the UK Series[4], but would not appear in either.

"Artros has built in anti roll plates on each side and we have fashioned the back so it cannot be stood upright , so Artros will land on its flipper or wheels and be able to self right."
— Team Artros on its design

The robot used a four-wheel drive, and was geared to reach speeds of 22mph. The robot was intended to be armed with a powerful flipping arm and a rollover design allowing the robot to constantly roll back onto its wheels and be on the attack. The robot was going to weigh 100kg overall but as of 2003, the components only had a overall weight of 43kg.

Outside Robot Wars[]

Two teammates went on to create two separate robots, with Michael creating a robot called British Bulldog[5] while Jay went on to create DeadKool[6], with both robots intended for Robot Wars and BattleBots. These robots would never compete in these forms, but Artros would compete at a number of WBX events in the northeastern United States alongside another robot from the team, The Defyer. This team would later rebrand to MNSTR Robotics and compete in RoboGames with robots such as Dxter and Spartan with middling success.
