- "Have you ever seen Robotwars on BBC2 and thought you could do better. Well, that very same thought crossed my mind. Unfortunately, I got very enthusiastic with my ideas and one thing led to another, before I new it I'd suddenly had created a competition robot, for the 3rd series."
- — Mohammed Ali[4]
BattleSkar was a crab-like robot that attempted to qualify for the Third Wars of Robot Wars. The robot was created by an engineering student and a team of senior engineers.
Design[]
BattleSkar was a red domed shaped robot with a pair of claw shaped spikes making it resemble a crab or a lobster accompanied with two yellow "eyes". It had two exposed wheels and a third at the back of the robot [5] with a drive which was described as "good manoeuvrability" and having "maximum traction"[6] At the time the team revealed that the robot suffered from a range of problems namely electrical problems [7].
