- "He has powerful jaws designed to penetrate and hold the armour of his enemies and a powerful flipping arm to dispatch them into the next life. He is fast and agile, and more than a match for his enemies."
- — The team's description of Bisyamonten
Bisyamonten was a competitor robot that attempted to enter Series 7 of Robot Wars. It was built as a project by the University of Hertfordshire’s Masters of Engineering, and it failed to qualify for the only series it was planned to participate in.
Very little information currently exists on how Bisyamonten attempted to qualify, or whether it was finished in time for qualification. However, the original Robot Wars website stated that it was a heavyweight.
The robot’s name was derived from 'Bishamonten', the Japanese god of war or warriors, and the Japanese name for the Buddhist deity Vaiśravaṇa.
Design[]
- "Bisyamonten is the creation of University of Hertfordshire’s Masters Of Engineering Project team. It is designed to compete in the BBC television series Robot Wars. Bisyamonten has a sleek double wedged shape, created by a Kevlar Shell, which provides protection from most of the dangers faced by him."
- — The team's description of Bisyamonten
Bisyamonten was a double wedge-shaped robot armoured in Kevlar, and featuring a crushing claw and a rear-hinged flipper as its weapons. A large mock-up of the robot suggested that it was intended to be painted black and red, with the robot’s name written on the top panel in English, 'Bishamonten' written on the sides in kanji, and a small white icon depicting Bishamonten on the flipper. Bisyamonten’s colour scheme was presumably chosen to reflect the aesthetics of samurai armour, adding to the robot’s theme.
