- "I've been building robots for...I guess seven years professionally and... the blender one is definitely one of my best."
- — Micheal Ferguson on Blendie, mockingly boasting about the robot
Blendie was a promotional sacrificial featherweight robot that fought in a demo battle against The Mulcher during the US 1995 Robot Wars Championship. Blendie was created by Blender Magazine as part of an article they were writing about the Robot Wars events.
Design[]
Blendie was a small featherweight robot that was essentially a blender placed upon a small RC car. The robot had a "tail" which was the blender plug and featured eyes, stuffed arms and a mouth façade, which could open and fire its "teeth" which were nerf bullets.
Robot History[]
1995 Championship[]
Blendie fought in a demonstration battle against the much larger The Mulcher, who had withdrawn from competition but featured in several demonstration battles. In this one-sided match, the larger Mulcher trundled across the arena as Blendie darted away and drove towards an arena mousetrap. The Mulcher tried to back into Blendie, however, Blendie darted away and the two started to chase one another. However, this chase eventually came to a violent end as The Mulcher managed to absorb Blendie in its grabbing mechanism and tore the robot to pieces as soon as it caught the smaller robot, sending glass shards across the arena leaving very little of the sacrificial robot.
