Buzzant (also spelt as BuzzAnt or Buzzant TNG) was an antweight robot which competed in the Antweight Championship of the second series of Robot Wars Extreme. In its only appearance, it lost its heat after becoming immobilised near the Floor Spinner.
Team MadScientists also entered the same competition with the equally unsuccessful Mesmer 2, and had entered the previous series' Antweight Melee with Legion. They had also previously attempted to qualify for Series 3-5 with heavyweight robot UFO.

Buzzant in the arena
Buzzant was an invertible, two-wheeled robot armed with a vertically-mounted buzz saw, hence its name. The saw was mounted on an arm which enabled it to retract, extend and attack opponents of any size, and was quoted by Jonathan Pearce to spin at 3,000rpm. Buzzant also featured two wooden bars on the top and bottom to stabilise the robot, although these proved vulnerable to getting broken off during its only battle. The robot's shape, weapon and tubular chassis also gave it passing similarities to Team MadScientist's fellow Extreme 2 entry, Mesmer 2.
Etymology[]
The robot's name is a portmanteau of 'buzz saw' and 'ant', the latter being short for 'antweight'.

Buzzant competed in the Antweight Championship, broadcast as part of the Robot Rampage episode. In its heat, it faced Lower, Militant, Minimalistic, Pants and Serpant.

Buzzant and was immediately attacked by Lower, which proceeded to push it back and grab it by the saw weapon. Buzzant was dragged and pushed along the arena before having one of its wheels pinched by Lower, but recovered to attack Militant, grazing its exposed batteries with the saw. By this point, one of its wooden stabilisers had broken off, causing the saw to hit the floor, and Buzzant was grabbed and lifted by Serpant seconds later. It later attacked Militant again as the latter was being dragged upside-down by Pants' axe, but stopped moving as it backed away, and was deemed immobilised. As a result, Buzzant lost the heat, and was eliminated from the Antweight Championship.

Outside Robot Wars[]
An early version of Buzzant without the saw
Multiple versions of Buzzant have competed in the Antweight World Series with moderate success, the earliest of which did not have a saw weapon. Its best performance came in AWS 9, where it reached the third round before losing to Odyssey. Buzzant was retired after AWS 11.
