Chopper was a low octagonal box wedge shaped robot that was shaped almost exactly the same as Spin Doctor from Series 2. Its weapon was a 1000RPM rotary chopper which resembled a helicopter blade, this blade was also meant to block flippers. It was armoured with very thick bulletproof polycarbonate for the top layer, aluminium for the second layer and a steel frame at the base and could travel at 21 mph. Chopper managed to get to the second round of its heat in the New Blood Tournament of Extreme 2 of Robot Wars, before being beaten by eventual winner and future World Champion, Storm 2.

Chopper was originally entered in Series 6, but it failed to qualify.

Robot History

Extreme 2

In Round 1, Chopper came up against ICU and Mad Dog. It made a slow start, and ICU attacked Mad Dog first. It was in trouble early on since it took damage from Matilda, who knocked its yellow spinning blade out of position. It then drove onto the flame pit, but despite seeming immobilised, it managed to get away. ICU pushed Mad Dog into the Arena wall, where Mad Dog stopped moving and was counted out and was punished by Sir Killalot and Matilda.

Shunt axes the underside of Chopper

Chopper was drawn against Storm 2 in the second round, who simply rammed Chopper into a wall in the CPZ, and the impact flipped the red and yellow robot upside-down. With no way to self-right, Chopper was left immobilised and it was counted out by Refbot. The House Robots came into attack, and Shunt dragged Chopper with its axe over to the floor flipper, but rather than being thrown forward, Chopper was thrown up and over and landed back on the flipper. Shunt repositioned it, and on the second attempt the flipper managed to hurl Chopper across the arena. Chopper was then roasted on the flame pit before being pitted by Shunt.
