DMAX Italia, known in Italy simply as DMAX, is an Italian digital television channel which aired the first two rebooted series of Robot Wars. Owned and operated by Warner Bros. Discovery, the channel is the Italian version of the channel that operates throughout Europe, most notably in Germany and the United Kingdom. DMAX showed Series 8-9 in 2021 and 2022, although it is not currently known if these were dubbed into Italian or shown in their original form with subtitles.

History[]

DMAX began transmission on 10 November 2011, with an HD equivalent channel launching in November 2014 as well as a time-shifted DMAX +1 operating from April 2014 until December 2020. While producing some original content DMAX has focused on broadcasting content imported from the United Kingdom and the United States, such as Destroyed in Seconds, MythBusters and Top Gear. DMAX also aired episodes of the modern BattleBots series in 2021-2022 (listed under the name BattleBots: Botte Da Robot), and is also the home of WWE programming in Italy.[1]

Robot Wars[]

DMAX started broadcasting Series 8 on Saturday 12 June 2021 with a single episode shown weekly at 1:30pm,[2] finishing on Saturday 31 July[3] with Heat E and the Grand Final being repeated after the initial six-episode run. A scheduling variation on Saturday 26 June listed one episode as airing at 2:00pm, between Nerf: The Ultimate Challenge and BattleBots.[1] Series 9 was first broadcast on the channel on Saturday 16 October 2021 in the previously utilised Saturday 1:30pm slot[4], although only the first three Heats were shown.

Series 8 would then be sporadically repeated throughout 2021 and 2022, including a Sunday afternoon double-episode slot in December 2021[5], and a pair of Saturday morning double-episode slots in August 2022[6][7]. However, in January 2022, the series would be repeated in two afternoon slots at 1:30pm and 2:30pm[8], with Series 9 following on 22 January in the same format and timeslot before finishing on 5 February[9][10]. However, Series 10 did not follow, and it is unclear whether this was shown on DMAX.
