Daisy Chopper was a robot that competed in Series 3 of Robot Wars. It had a large 20 kg vertical flywheel (incorrectly referred to as a "circular saw or hammer") driven by a hatchback car motor and spun at 1600RPM but the robot could reach 20 mph. It lost to Griffon in its first ever battle. The team tried to enter it virtually unchanged for the Fourth Wars, but it failed to qualify. The team previously entered Series 2 with Caliban.

Robot History

Series 3

In the first round of The Third Wars, Daisy Chopper went up against Series 1 Grand Finalists Griffon. Daisy Chopper's spinning disc weaponry had no effect on the polycarbonate armour of its box-shaped opponent, as Griffon turned Daisy Chopper over several times with its BioHazard inspired lifting arm. Griffon eased Daisy Chopper over to the CPZ of Dead Metal, but Daisy Chopper then steered Griffon into its CPZ, Dead Metal creating a few grazes on Griffon's lifting arm before cease was called. The battle went to a judges' decision. The judges declared that Griffon was the more worthy of a place in the second round, and Griffon was put through via a unanimous decision.

The Daisy Chopper team protested against the verdict, and the judges re-considered. In a 2-1 split decision, they voted for Griffon again, eliminating Daisy Chopper from the competition.

Trivia

• Daisy Chopper was the first robot to be armed with a large vertical flywheel as a weapon.
• Interestingly, both Daisy Chopper and Griffon, the robot that beat it in Series 3, failed to qualify for Series 4, before their teams retired from Robot Wars altogether.
