Robot Wars Wiki

Dead Metal is a house robot, appearing in every single mainline series of Robot Wars. Designed to look akin to a mechanical scorpion reanimated from a scrapyard, it featured pincers at its front, alongside a saw that could be used to grapple and damage opponents. Dead Metal appears in every Robot Wars video game, alongside the other three initial House Robots and Sir Killalot.

Appearance and Armament[]

Dead Metal as a machine is relatively faithful to its real-life counterpart. Its structure is roughly similar to its represented machine, although it is somewhat more compact. The body itself is less detailed, and seemingly opaque, but is still distinguishable as Dead Metal, and does show its rough chassis with some accuracy. The pincers are at a very different angle to its real-life counterpart, with the internal detail somewhat divergent, but still ultimately recognisable. The saw is roughly accurate, if harder to distinguish.

Dead Metal is positioned in the top-left hand corner of the CPZ, and is present at all times within the Robot Wars Arena, whilst not showing up as a House Robot in any of the other three stages. It can be unlocked if defeated in the Robot Mayhem. Dead Metal (alongside all other House Robots) is invulnerable to damage from robots themselves, including each other.

Strategies[]

Playing as Dead Metal[]

As Dead Metal is invulnerable, and very difficult to push, any player playing as Dead Metal should ideally drive straight into an opponent, using its pincers and saw in conjunction as a weapon to wear away health, whilst pushing the opponent towards arena hazards.

Playing against Dead Metal[]

With it being impossible for any machine, House Robot included, to damage Dead Metal, the only real strategy possible to defeating it would be to ensure it hits the arena hazards, or drives into a pit. The latter strategy is preferred, mainly due to the inability of most machines to push Dead Metal, although it might be possible to have Dead Metal drive itself into them. Arena spikes, however, deal no damage to the machine, or even flip it, thus degrading the power of many flippers.

Differences between the Game and Real Life[]

  • The pincers are the wrong shape.
  • The saw is too small.
  • Dead Metal is more rounded than real life.
  • The robot appears to have a solid shell, instead of an exoskeleton.
