Deadly Azael was a heavyweight robot designed with the intention of applying for Series 5 of Robot Wars. Despite the team stating the robot had been completed, it is unknown if it had ever attended the qualifiers.
Design[]
Deadly Azael's construction started before Series 3 and took 2 years to build. Little is known about the robot's design as no images exist on the team's website. What is known is that it had a spinning blade that team captain Phil Wise was able to cut through a steel cage and wood during testing.[2] Wise also built custom electronics for Deadly Azael's power distribution[3] and its radio controls.[4]
Outside Robot Wars[]
Wise also constructed an antweight robot named Zup which was to be a scaled-down version of Deadly Azael. It originally was designed as an lightweight, but was reworked due to budget constraints. Wise intended to compete at an Antweight World Series event with his design, but did not end up making it. It is unknown if Zup was ever fully built.[5]
