Caesar was a Belgian robot that attempted to enter Robot Wars: The Seventh Wars, but did not qualify for the series. Built by Team VHS-Robots, it was the direct successor to Pika 3.

Design[]

Caesar was a boxy, silver and brown wedge-shaped robot armed with a double-headed axe and featuring a tubular/box-section chassis with bolt-on armour panels. The robot also featured several spikes along its front, sides, rear and top, while its shape and colour scheme gave it a passing resemblance to UK series competitor Derek.

Etymology[]

The robot's name presumably came from the famous Roman leader Julius Caesar.

Qualification[]

Caesar made its only qualification attempt for Robot Wars in Series 7 of the UK show, travelling from Belgium to England to fight in the qualifiers. It is unknown which robots Caesar fought against, but it presumably lost its battle as the robot did not qualify for the Seventh Wars.

Caesar and Scraptosaur fight it out at a demonstration event

Before being redesigned to use an axe, Caesar debuted at the Dutch Robot Games in 2003 as a simple wedge. Its competition fight was a rumble against H.A.R.R.Y. and No Fear 2, which was won by the former[1]. Caesar's non-competition fight was a rumble against Philipper 2 and Sater 2, but it was quickly immobilised by the winner Sater 2[2].

Caesar would go on to make appearances at demonstrations with its new axe design, notably fighting former televised Robot Wars competitors Das Gepäck and Scraptosaur.
