"Now this robot will cause a sting if cornered. Round of applause please for Porcupine!"
Jonathan Pearce's in-game commentary

Porcupine is a heavyweight competitor robot in the games Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction and Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction, undertaking similar guises in both appearances.

Arenas of Destruction[]

In Arenas of Destruction, Porcupine's weapons are an axe and a spike trap and it is armoured in aluminium. It can only self-right if it lands on its axe. It costs 3960 credits to buy.

Strategies[]

Using Porcupine[]

As Porcupine is similar to Alley Cat in terms of body shape and weaponry, you should use similar tactics with Porcupine, though the armour is considerably weaker, so be careful. Go for the sides and bash the opponent with the axe from there. Avoid flippers as well, as it can only self-right if it landed on its axe.

Against Porcupine[]

Because the armour on Porcupine is weaker than Alley Cat's, being aluminium, you can use a good weapon to break the armour off. You can flip it as well, though Porcupine is low to the ground.

Extreme Destruction[]

In Extreme Destruction, the only differences are an extra pair of spikes instead of the axe and it now runs on exposed tracks instead of concealed wheels. It can no longer self-right in any position.

Strategies[]

Using Porcupine[]

Porcupine is relatively slow, but it has far stronger pushing power, so you can use the spikes to manipulate other robots into the hazards. Be careful of flippers, though, as Porcupine has a high ground clearance and, unlike the first game, is incapable of self-righting in any position.

Against Porcupine[]

Porcupine is much easier to deal with in this game, as it has a far higher ground clearance than before. Use a flipper to get underneath and throw it over. Failing that, just attempt to ram it into hazards, as Porcupine's weapons are low damaging and it is slow to react to attacks.
