"When the action starts you can be sure that Refbot will be in the thick of it, ensuring that fairplay is being upheld. This pullback comes with an exclusive battle board. The time has come to ACTIVATE!"
— Official description from the Robot Wars Online Shop[1]

The Refbot pullback was based upon the Series 4 version of its real life counterpart.

Features[]

RefBoard

The Refbot pullback with the Scoreboard

Because the pullback replicates the Series 4 version of Refbot, the toy does not feature the electronic countdown board and the electronic carding system, both introduced in Series 5 and Extreme 1.

The two arms moved with the aid of a button on its back. Pressing the button made the pincer arm move upwards, the extinguisher arm move downwards and the head turn to the right. The pincer was fixed in position. It also featured a "Bump and Change Direction" style drive, like the Shunt pullback, meaning if it hit an object it would either change direction or reverse.

Every panel that can be attached to the scoreboard

Refbot came bundled with a Scoreboard accessory. This had several panels with robot's names, such as Hypno-Disc, Chaos 2, Pussycat, Stinger, X-Terminator 2, Razer and Panic Attack, which could be stuck to the board. The board had two sides, one for showing the top seeds, and another for showing the line up for battles. The panels could be swapped to change the line ups. The only four robots not to have panels with names included were Firestorm, Wheely Big Cheese, Tornado and Dantomkia, all of which released after the Refbot toy. These robots however were not given additional panels in future releases of this pullback toy.

Differences from real life[]

  • The front snow plough on the model is black, when it is an unpainted grey on its real life counterpart.
  • The arms are mounted lower on the body than in real life, probably to facilitate the gearing mechanism to make them move.

Trivia[]

  • The Refbot pullback was based on the Series 4 version of the machine, as the electronic counter was not implemented into this toy. The static claw weapon is present in Refbot's left hand as per Series 4, much like its minibot counterpart.
  • Four competitor pullback toys did not have battleboard panels included with Refbot's accessory, as they were all released after this toy. The four robots were Firestorm, Wheely Big Cheese, Tornado and Dantomkia.
  • Despite also being released after the Refbot pullback, Stinger was included among the robots given battleboard panels for the accessory.
