It's back! Anyone managed to find it on YouTube? Combatwombat555 (talk) 18:35, June 25, 2016 (UTC)

ABC Youtube account uploaded some battles including Beta's fight. Here:https://www.youtube.com/user/ABCNetwork/videos Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 18:36, June 25, 2016 (UTC)
That's good to hear. I love the show. Vampireweekend4ever (talk) 20:20, June 25, 2016 (UTC)
The Disk O' Inferno - Chomp match was booed. The reason for this apparently "bad judging" and some other things. Apart from that and the Chrome Fly - Bucktooth Burl match, I like BB. --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 08:11, June 26, 2016 (UTC)

Might as well throw in my random thoughts on the fights.

  • Bronco vs Blacksmith - I think they picked a good fight to start the series proper, not counting the qualifier rumbles. I hope Bronco does just as well this series, it's a pretty awesome robot.
  • Captain Shrederator vs Death Roll - For one, it was nice seeing a proper functioning Australian robot for a change, and considering who it was up against, it did well to hang in there for as long as it did.
  • Lucky vs beta - Poor beta can't catch a break, even when it finally gets a chance to compete. Still, needless to say, I was routing for it the whole battle and was happy it won. I think Lucky will be a strong contender for a Wildcard.
  • Photon Storm vs Minotaur - Ouch!!
  • Disk O'Inferno vs Chomp - I honestly thought Disk had it, but I think I can understand where the judges were coming from...it did keep glitching out on occassion.
  • Hypershock vs Ultraviolent - I have no idea what Ultraviolent was trying to do, but it was hilarious. I'd quite forgotten just how destructive Hypershock was.
  • Complete Control vs Bombshell - That's probably got to be the best use of a flamethrower I've ever seen in any robot-combat competition.
  • Obwalden Overlord vs Warhead - OK, if this doesn't get the vote for the biggest WTF battle ever, I don't know what does.
  • Other Battles - Would have loved to have seen Stinger vs Nightmare in full. If only for that massive first blow. Just saying.

And there we go. CrashBash (talk) 13:23, June 26, 2016 (UTC)

You've obviously never seen Mr. Mangle or Decimator in action. Also, Disk O apparently did better than what was shown on TV. From this episode allow (not counting the cut battles), I would've awarded Lucky and Disk O'Inferno the wildcards. Maybe do this for the rest of season, Crash? --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 14:22, June 26, 2016 (UTC)
Who? And I'll try if I can find the episodes as they come out. CrashBash (talk) 14:28, June 26, 2016 (UTC)
I may as well throw my hat in and say thst Disk O'Inferno was the absolute winner for me. The reasoning given for Chrome Fly's victory on TV also struck me as wrong, but apparently Bucktooth Burl was smoking at the end. Escape Velocity's weapon was thoroughly unimpressive so I can't wait to see it again. ToastUltimatum 14:32, June 26, 2016 (UTC)
For a man who commented that "the driving sucked" from all of last year's competitors he sure got his robot caught on the floor a lot of the time. I don't know whether it was bad design or what but he kept getting himself jammed, so I'd have given Chomp more points on Control, and on damage seeing as Disk O's weapon failed to work properly, and probably give the upper hand on the other two categories to Disk O but it would've been close. Personally I think Chomp edged it though. I also felt the rules were a little inconsistent, with lifters being allowed to hoist robots for 30 seconds whereas Crushers can only grip for 10. RelicRaider (talk) 14:39, June 26, 2016 (UTC)
Crash - Mr. Mangle and Decimator. Mangle popped up in the 2014 UK Champs and the two World Champs, whilst Decimator only popped up in 2015 World Champs. Their are a lot of videos of them in action, the easiest being Jarvis's (Microgravity100) YouTube channel. Relic - I can't remember what changes there were to rules, but I believe there are 4 categories a robot can from. I also believe that crushers can grip 30 seconds, as Complete Control, a robot designed from gripping first and then lifting, was allowed to hold Bombshell for 30 seconds. Also the drone killing itself was pretty funny, and needed Jeremy Clarkson humor to top it off. --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 16:51, June 26, 2016 (UTC)
In the battle between Photon Storm and Minotaur they said 10 secs. RelicRaider (talk) 18:53, June 26, 2016 (UTC)

I really hope Photon Storm sneaks a wild card if it can be repaired, Ed Hoppit did well to last as long as it did against a vicious opponent and (although it's unclear just how hyped the 'millimetres from a knock-out' thing was) nearly took a shock victory. Best fight had to be Obwalden Overlord against Warhead, just cause of the utter ridiculousness of the whole thing. Combatwombat555 (talk) 23:38, June 26, 2016 (UTC)

OK, I'm just gonna up and say it....I would love to see Tombstone vs Minotaur. Stuff the fact they've fought at live events, I mean in the Battlebox itself.CrashBash (talk) 22:04, June 27, 2016 (UTC)

It's not been easy, as two of the uploads suffer from severe glitches in the last five minutes or so, and the one upload that doesn't have this issue has some really awkward zoom-in (the issues of trying to prevent a video being taken down, I guess), but I have nonetheless seen the last of the qualifying rounds, and here are my thoughts.

  • Moebius vs Brutus - One robot went out guns blazing (that's not a figure of speech, BTW), one just went out blazing. I think that sums it all up.
  • Ghost Raptor vs Son of Whyachi - Poor Ghost Raptor. It tried playing a strong tactical game and then its weapon messed up right when it needed it most. Also, when Whyachi hit Raptor for the last time, Raptor's right wheel was going in the opposite direction to the rest of the body whilst still being attached. Ouch!
  • Lockjaw vs Yeti - Credit where credit is due, Yeti is a strong looking competitor. Pity it couldn't actually break Lockjaw's wheels off, but it looks like it could be a strong contender.
  • Witch Doctor vs Rotator - It's all very well having multiple spinners, but they're no use when your wheels are so exposed. Good win by Witch Doctor, it looks like a legitimate threat this time.
  • Other Battles - Poor Wrecks just can't catch a break.
  • Wildcard Thoughts - I'm pleased to see Lucky got a Wildcard, I felt it deserved one, putting up such a strong and spirited fight against beta. The only one I don't agree on is Bombshell, since it left very little impact at all against Complete Control. If it's purely for the whole Swiss-Army-Bot thing, we already have Razorback...and technically Warhead.

Them's my thoughts. CrashBash (talk) 18:57, July 1, 2016 (UTC)

I've found a channel (possibly the official Battlebots channel?) that has a lot of the battles that weren't shown in full. Be warned, most of them aren't particularly exciting. https://www.youtube.com/user/battlebots Combatwombat555 (talk) 15:04, July 14, 2016 (UTC)

It makes me wonder which fights they're gonna cut for the Round of 32. The next episode (which has been apparently moved to next week BTW, because reruns of some show nobody watches, I think) features Tombstone vs Escape Velocity, Razorback vs Ghost Raptor, Complete Control vs Warhead and Son of Whyachi vs Poison Arrow. This leaves the following battles...
  • Brutus vs Lock-Jaw
  • Icewave vs Nightmare
  • beta vs Overhaul 2.0
  • Bite Force vs Ringmaster
  • Chomp vs Captain Shrederator
  • Stinger vs Mega Tento
  • Cobalt vs Bombshell
  • HyperShock vs Warrior Clan.
Now, ideally, the fights to air would involve robots that we have yet to see in a full battle. However, of these, only two battles (Brutus vs Lock-Jaw, Chomp vs Captain Shrederator) involve two robots that we've already seen in a full fight. There's also three fights (Icewave vs Nightmare, Bite Force vs Ringmaster and Stinger vs Mega Tento) there where neither robot featured has had a full battle aired, leaving space for one. I do kinda want Bite Force's battle to be aired, though...it's the defending champion, yet it's been given NO love at all. CrashBash (talk) 15:32, July 14, 2016 (UTC)
The real reason why BB got moved is because Obama had something to show (I believe). Based around what you said Crash, episode 5 might feature Brutus v Lock-Jaw (grudge match), Chomp vs Captain Shrederator (lady vs man), beta vs Overhaul 2.0 (had good qualifying matches) and HyperShock vs Warrior Clan (two good robots that cause high damage) or Icewave vs Nightmare (just so that the producers can claim that Nightmare "is dead"). I'm not a TV expert, but those seem to be the most likeliest of matches (high damage and good driving). --WolfwingandSlaveLeia (talk) 15:58, July 14, 2016 (UTC)

Crash's Predictions and Reviews

With the qualifiers out of the way, we now have our bracket of 32. This has pretty much inspired me to do something I haven't done since...geesh, Series 5 of the original Robot Wars. What I'm going to do here is post my predictions of the ENTIRE Battlebots tournament from here on out. As and when fights happen, I will replace my predictions with reviews, and also edit any predictions if they involve robots that I thought would win but did not. So, bare with me here, this is going to get ugly.

Round of 32

  • Tombstone vs Escape Velocity - Poor Escape Velocity never got a look in.
  • Brutus vs Lockjaw - Brutus is a small robot, which'd be perfect for Lockjaw to grab hold of...or maybe just flip over
  • Icewave vs Nightmare - Two glass cannons, but I feel Nightmare hasn't really aged well.
  • beta vs Overhaul - I don't think there's a lot Overhaul can do to beta.
  • Bite Force vs Ringmaster - Bite Force looks really impressive this year. Ringmaster does not.
  • Chomp vs Captain Shrederator - Chomp's terrible centre of gravity and frankly awful aiming is a major problem against a robot like Shrederator.
  • Stinger vs Mega Tento - Stinger can defeat robots like Nightmare and Warhead, it can withstand a robot like Mega Tento.
  • Yeti vs Lucky - I'm starting to like Yeti even more. As I suspected, Lucky's lifting arm was pretty much the weaklink...although I wasn't expecting it to break off. Great timing, too, with the commentary.
  • Bronco vs Chrome Fly - The worst part is that Chrome Fly pretty much killed itself.
  • Razorback vs Ghost Raptor - Eh, wasn't really that exciting, but it didn't look like Ghost Raptor was really running 100%. Guess the damage it took from S.O.W. was perhaps a bit too much.
  • Minotaur vs Blacksmith - Gotta give Blacksmith some credit for hanging on in there, but it lost everything and then pretty much exploded inside. I see that counts as an instant knockout.
  • Complete Control vs Warhead - This is the one thing I'm not keen on when it comes to Battlebots...unlike Robot Wars, a dead-drive on one side doesn't count as a knockout. Complete Control lost half its drive right in the first few seconds, and all the while, I keep worrying something is going to happen to Warhead that's gonna render it completely immobile. Well, suffice to say, Warhead did do two things...did a brilliant head-stand and caused Complete Control to explode.
  • Witch Doctor vs Red Devil - ....I don't even know what happened. I didn't think electronics and batteries produced THAT much smoke. Credit to Red Devil, though.
  • Cobalt vs Bombshell - EXTREMELY easy victory.
  • Son of Whyachi vs Poison Arrow - I said it wasn't going to end well, and it didn't...for Son of Whyachi. That was an extremely powerful hit.
  • Hypershock vs Warrior Clan - Another battle I'm divided on, but I feel Hypershock has the better potential here. Although seeing Warrior Clan fighting S.O.W. would be interesting...

Round of 16 (based on Ro32 predictions)

  • Tombstone vs Lockjaw - Wheels off.
  • Icewave vs beta - Sorry beta, but I just feel Icewave's cutting blade is going to cause too much damage.
  • Bite Force vs Captain Shrederator - I'm not a big fan of jumping on the horizontal beats vertical bandwagon, but I feel the champion is going to have a hard time doing anything to Shrederator.
  • Stinger vs Yeti - Stinger can resist spinners, it should be OK here.
  • Bronco vs Razorback - Especially the way Bronco has been going
  • Minotaur vs Warhead - Sorry, but I can't play bias here.
  • Red Devil vs Cobalt - Depends what Red Devil uses, but I think Cobalt can probably do some damage to the tracks...I mean, Wrecks managed.
  • Poison Arrow vs Hypershock - Both really impressive robots, but I feel Hypershock might have the advantage as its disc seems to get up to speed quicker than Poison Arrow's drum.

Quarter Finals (based on Ro16 predictions)

  • Tombstone vs Icewave - Pretty sure people thought this would be the ABC1 grand final. I feel Tombstone is better put together, and probably has the more reliable weapon too.
  • Captain Shrederator vs Stinger - Happened last year.
  • Bronco vs Minotaur - As much as I'd LOVE to vote Minotaur through, I seriously think Bronco has the best chance to defeat it here, since it held out pretty well against Tombstone, which has a much greater range.
  • Cobalt vs Hypershock - Hypershock's weapon seems overall more reliable.

Semi Finals (based on QF predictions)

  • Tombstone vs Stinger - Y'know what, why not? If Stinger really is "the" spinner killer, why not have it outlast and defeat Tombstone?
  • Bronco vs Hypershock - Hey, if I think Bronco can beat Minotaur, I think it can beat Hypershock.

Grand Final (based on SF predictions)

  • Stinger vs Bronco - Happened last year.

And those are my predictions for this season of Battlebots. Now watch me be COMPLETELY wrong and frickin' Bombshell wins the series. CrashBash (talk) 08:38, July 5, 2016 (UTC)
