(Congratulations to Tough As Nails, first major title on the Arena Forums I believe. Also, first Judges' decision of the tournament, and an odd one at that.) |

#I can understand Space's logic, certainly. What concerns me here is that even if Gravity tries to play tactically, its sheer raw power may ironically be its undoing. I saw at least one point in the Dutch rumble where Gravity tried to get a flip on TAN, but missed and that caused the robot to fire its whole front off the ground. Gravity only needs to make one mistake and TAN can take advantage...and knowing just how big of a threat Gravity is, it won't let go if it can avoid it. + | #TAN is far too awkward a shape for Gravity to get a good flip on, especially one that'll KO it over the wall. Tough As Nails needs to be outpushed to lose, and Gravity really isn't a good enough pusher to do that, especially as its shape means it can't even find itself gripped well enough to push back. TAN will do what it easily did in the World Champ qualifier and just scoop Gravity up from the side and feed it into the pit. With a pit release button that just opens the pit, Tough As Nails has a very easy route for all its tactics that can't really be faulted. + | #Yeah, I can definitely understand Gravity faring better second time around. However, in practice, I just can't justify it myself, the ground clearance is just too high, and one missed flip will be very quickly pounced on, allowing the usual Tough as Nails grab and pit win. #Ah, here we go again, SpaceManiac888 voting against what happened in real-life. Hear me out once more; I think NJGW back in Heat D, Heat Final, was onto something. I could not back him the first-time, as the first encounter was not a rematch. But now, his reasoning makes a lot of sense. Gravity is not going to hold back this time, like it did in that fateful three-way melee; rather, it is going to pull out all the stops to avoid Tough As Nails pushing the pit button. If Tough As Nails starts by attempting to press the pit button, Gravity is going to charge, get underneath at the back, and throw its opponent out of the arena. Therefore, Tough As Nails probably won't do that, knowing the risks, and so meet Gravity in the middle of the arena in an attempt to trap its opponent. This time, with no pit to worry about (for now, at least), Gravity won't be quite as affected by its opponent's grabs, and its flips are going to be the main talking point here. And any time Tough As Nails charges towards the pit button, either Gravity is going to throw Tough As Nails out of the arena, OR, do whatever it takes to push Tough As Nails away from it, as if it was preventing Thanos from obtaining the Gauntlet. This therefore reminds me of Eruption's win over Carbide... Eruption knows its opponent's tactics, and is just so aggressive it prevents its opponent from properly tackling it. Gravity to win via an out of the arena or Jury's decision. + | #Call me mad but I think Space is on to something here. This resembles Tough as Nails' heat final against Robochicken- a fight in which Tough as Nails only got to the pit release button after at least a minute, and I think only then because Robochicken's gas had run low and Tough as Nails wasn't in much danger of going out of the arena. With a broader, more explosive flipper (and with no gas leak) Gravity should be able to extend that first period when Tough as Nails can't reach the release button- and let's not forget that Robochicken wasn't a million miles away from throwing Tough as Nails out itself; if Gravity gets to Tough as Nails' rear in the same way it's going out. ||
+ | #:You gotta remember, though, TAN wasn't running all that right against Robochicken because its aerial got knocked off. The team admitted they were having a hard time controlling it (and the fact it then subsequently won is just amazing to me), so that may justify a few things. + | #5th: Philipper 2, 6th: Slicer, 7th: Das Gepäck, 8th: Scraptosaur. Reviving a tradition I started back in A Fantasy Audited War 3, always like to see where the losers in the Last 8 would "officially" rank if they fought each other. Anyhow, this is really interesting, because all four robots are very durable and honestly kind of lack knockout power against each other. Really, the only machine I see being knocked out here is Scraptosaur, because although it will start off strongly with a few flips, it will not beat any opponent and will leave it vulnerable to being toppled by either Slicer's drum, or more likely Philipper 2's lifter. Of the remaining three, Slicer has damage potential, but this will weaken as the fight progresses, and is vulnerable to being pushed by Philipper 2 from both ends. Das Gepäck will be aggressive, but ultimately its high ground clearance makes it vulnerable to being wedged and pushed by both opponents. Ultimately, I see Philipper 2 winning the Jury's decision because plainly, I see it doing more than the rest, probably scoring the flip of doom on Scraptosaur. Slicer outranks Das Gepäck thanks to better damage inflicted. <span style="color:#B7410E">SpaceManiac888</span> <span style="color:#228B22">(Talk)</span> 20:43, March 28, 2020 (UTC) |

+ | #To start off with, I feel like the two big guns here are Philipper and Slicer with the other two really easy for the picking. I'll say in 8th: Scraptosaur simply because it can be flipped and defeated lot more easily than in 7th: Das Gepack because it doesn't have much to fight back against as Slicer could tear into it, it can be flipped and honestly it's likely to be able to survive a lot longer (due to invertability). The two other are a lot harder to judge but I do feel like Philipper's durability and surprise attacks can allow it to flip and even grab onto Slicer, but then again Slicer is damaging...I'll say 6th: Slicer and 5th: Philipper 2 <font color="red">Diotoir</font><font color="black"> the</font><font color="red"> son</font><font color="black"> of</font><font color="red"> nemesis</font> (talk) 10:29, March 29, 2020 (UTC) |
||
+ | #So, I think that Das Gepäck will finish in 8th, as I think that it will be subject to being pushed around and flipped by the other three, and it will end up in a CPZ, where a House Robot will cause damage to at least two of the six wheels, before Scraptosaur then comes in and leaves it resting against a side wall, where it's immobilised. I think that Scraptosaur will finish in 7th, as it's gas will run out, and Philipper 2 will get a flip in and leave it for dead. Between the other two, it could go either way, but I think Slicer can get under Philipper 2 and Philipper 2 can flip Slicer. I'll go for Philipper 2 will finish in 6th because I think Slicer will be able to just breach Philipper and put in a few more good drives, meaning Slicer will finish in 5th. <span style="font-family: Courier"><font color="#191970">Adster</font><font color="#FF0000">1005</font></span> 11:55, March 29, 2020 (UTC) |

+ | #You know, regardless of whether this ends up as 7-1, 1-7 or a hotly contested final battle, I think it is really satisfying to see a Grand Final with neither spinners nor flippers. Two great crushers/grabbers, each with unique designs that make them instantly recognisable, what more could you ask for? Hopefully, Jimlaad will agree with me on this and rank this Grand Final decently on his list. Anyhow, onto the battle itself. I mentioned back during their encounter in Crusher Crunch-Up that I had no idea who to back in a one-on-one situation, only voting for Tough As Nails because I felt it could pitting the other two competitors. Even now, I find this a very difficult decision, because if they attack head-on, Krab-Bot will latch onto its opponent, while being stuck in Tough As Nails' deathgrip that will result in a stalemate. The teams will probably realise this, and so will seek to attack each other's flanks. Who will be more successful in this? Krab-Bot, in my opinion. Not only is it an agile beast compared to the sometimes cumbersome Tough As Nails, for once it actually has more to grab that way than its opponent! Indeed, a side-on attack by Tough As Nails seems awkward to achieve due to Krab-Bot's design, whereas Krab-Bot can grab via the holes in the pincers and the space between Tough As Nail's wheel and pincer. And if Krab-Bot reaches the rear, well, it has this one in the bag due to the grabbable mechanics, whereas it can probably escape the same fate if Tough As Nails evens gets lucky in the first place! So henceforth, I am giving this one to Krab-Bot, since it will withstand a head-on collision, and is more likely to grab its opponent's flanks than vice-versa, giving it the victory via a Jury's decision. + | #What does Krab-Boi have on its side? The claws can lift. If Krab-Boi grabs TAN around the back and closes the claw, it could lift the wheels of TAN up slightly. Maybe not enough to fully lift it up, but enough to reduce its grip. As I have said in previous fights, the only way to stop TAN (apart from a powerful spinner taking out the wheels) is to out-push it. With reduced traction, Krab-Boi then has the power to push back, and I can see it doing that. TAN will have dutifully opened the pit, and Krab-Boi can dump it down, hoisting it by its own petard and doing what TAN has done so well all tournament. + | #Going into the Grand Final, Semi-Finals, and seeing the match-ups, I kinda guessed that this would have been the Grand Final. What I didn't see is me voting for Krab-Bot. Every time I thought of this match-up, I'd have voted for Tough as Nails. But here I am, voting for Krab-Bot. Space sums the opening up greatly, and I do see both getting stuck in a stalemate. The holes in TaN's grippers look as if they could give Krab-Bot some leverage, but I see TaN escaping, and grabbing the back. I do see TaN having some pushes, but then Krab-Bot escaping. I do see the bar at the back of Tough as Nails being vulnerable to gripping by Krab-Bot, and this could be dangerous, especially if it were to push TaN into a House Robot and that could deal some damage. I wish I could use the rubber coming off of the wheel in the 3WC against it, but that seemed like a one-off, so I won't. This battle will be a good back and forth where each machine will have the upper hand, but I think Krab-Bot will just edge a Jurys' decision. With that being said, I would have loved to have seen this battle in real life. <span style="font-family: Courier"><font color="#191970">Adster</font><font color="#FF0000">1005</font></span> 12:21, March 29, 2020 (UTC) |

+ | #Neither robot is really well suited to grab the other, that much is clear. It feels like if one grabs hold of the other, the other will just slip away. Crucially, however, Tough as Nails is better designed to keep control of robots it can't actually grab. If Krab-Bot loses its grip on TAN, the Dutch machine will just slip away - there's no way a massive machine like that will fit Behemoth-equse in that gap between the pincers. But if TAN loses its grip on Krab-Bot, then there's a very good chance that the British machine will still be caught between the pincers, possibly at an awkward angle that it won't be able to drive away from. There's also the chance that it'll just slip away, but it's a 50/50 gamble and it's one TAN can and will exploit. If this lasts the full five minutes, then it's a fight I trust TAN to edge out on, certainly on aggression and all things considering, likely on control too...we know Krab-Bot was always a little slippery. + | #I dunno, even with a smaller size and "roll ability"? I guess, I just can't see Krab Bot getting any purchase whereas I can see TaN even without actually clamping around it and I can easily see it just grabbing it and or scooping it around the arena and in the pit. + | #Can't actually see Tough as Nails actually grabbing Krab-Bot properly unless it catches it from behind, which I don't see as, like its opponent, Krab-Bot is usually nimble enough to avoid getting caught like that. That said, I still see Tough as Nails just about dominating aggression sufficiently for the win here... Hogwild94 (talk) 21:26, March 28, 2020 (UTC) |

+ | #This is quite a frustrating vote to submit, because in my opinion, Krab-Bot has the tools to dominate this. Krab-Bot was always much better than Tough as Nails at grabbing at opponent and immediately accelerating them across the arena. However, the problem with Krab-Bot was its driving. Yes, it was well driven, but it wasn't kept well under control. There are multiple occasions in many a Krab-Bot fight where it swerves around, has a momentary lapse, and where it is imprecise. And if Tough as Nails grabs Krab-Bot even once in an awkward area with either a strong enough grip, or a grip at an angle to take one of Krab-Bot tyres off the floor, then it'll be punished for me. + | #Ach, I was right about to vote for Krab-Bot until I read Nick's vote. He's not wrong, Krab-Bot probably will oversteer and get grabbed in that time despite otherwise potentially leading the fight. <span style="font-family:Pirulen; font-size:10pt"><font color="maroon">T</font><font color="ff8c00">OAS</font><font color="maroon">T</font></span> 15:56, March 29, 2020 (UTC) |

Welkom terug bij Nederlandse Serie 3. After five gruelling heats and two terrific five-way Rumbles, we are now down to our eight Grand Finalists. They include the former Dutch champion Slicer, former Grand Finalists in Krab-Bot, Philipper 2 (who has retained its Belgian crown!!), Scraptosaur and Twisted Metal Evo, and three machines who have never reached such heights in Das Gepäck, Gravity and Tough As Nails. And we certainly have variety in these mean machines, including grabbers, flippers, spinners and rammers, all of whom claim to have what it takes to earn the Dutch Series 3. But of course, only one can come out on top. So, LAAT DE FINALES BEGINNEN!
