Welkom terug bij Nederlandse Serie 3. For our final special event, we have decided to get personnal. For years, our neighbours in Germany have been gloating about their nation's performances against us for far too long. Indeed, for some of us, the heatbreak of the 1974 World Cup final still lingers, and so it is time to exact revenge, not in football, but with Robot Wars! Four German machines have challenged four of the very finest Dutch machines in a tournament where national pride is at stake. Who will come out on top? To find out, we must LAAT DE OORLOGEN BEGINNEN!

Round 1

I Bot One Beta (Germany) vs Reaper NP2 (Germany)

I Bot One Beta Reaper NP2
I Bot One Beta
Reaper np2
Votes for I Bot One Beta
  1. And we start with a battle that is so comically cack, it will give the Dutch folk false confidence. But hey, at least one of these machines gets a win for a change! So, who would win had Ansgar 3 not been present in that World Championship qualifier? I narrowly back I Bot One Beta, because honestly, Reaper NP2 didn't seem like a great, reliable pusher to me, whereas the spinner can at least slam and cause some minor damage. A close one, but I think the damage output from I Bot One Beta should be enough for the victory. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 12:16, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Ironically, if you write this acronymically as IBOβ, it looks like IBOß, (IBOSS) in German, do I have no idea where all that came from. Anyway yeah, the spinners will probably cause minor damage which will be clearly enough to give it the victory when both robots do very little to each other. Jimlaad43(talk) 12:24, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  3. I Bot One Beta to do little damage to Reaper NP2, and since Reaper cannot do much back, I think IBOB will take a Jury's decision. Adster1005 12:29, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Reaper NP2
  1. If I Bot One Beta had any sort of punch to its spinning blades, I'd back it. But I don't. So I'll basically say that Reaper does not break down, but instead keeps pressuring it around the arena until it eventually manages to get it into the pit, or causes I Bot to break down itself. CrashBash (talk) 12:36, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  2. A good few visually-decent drives to outweigh very mild scratches. NJGW (talk) 12:40, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Reaper NP2 at least displayed good speed in the Dutch Robot Games. IBOB kinda sorta maybe beat it in their televised encounter but let's avoid thinking about that. TOAST 15:05, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Can't really trust either to be honest; one good slam by Reaper may well knock them both out, so a default jury victory. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:40, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
Winner: Reaper NP2 (4-3)

Tsunami (Germany) vs Ansgar 3 (Germany)

Tsunami Ansgar 3
Tsunami S7
Ansgar 3
Votes for Tsunami
  1. And perhaps a dream match of sorts between the two best German machines in Series 7. For a shufflebot, Ansgar 3 is remarkably agile. But hardly anyone can outrank Tsunami in terms of agility, and eventually I see the compact flipper getting underneath Ansgar 3's rear. Now, Ansgar 3's additional weight will make it tougher for an out of the arena, but then again, this is Tsunami we are talking about, who tossed 100kg machines as if they were weightless. I see the out of the arena eventually occurring. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 12:16, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  2. I don't think I'd expect an OOTA, but you never know. A side stranding is also possible, but regardless of if it's a Jury decision, OOTA or KO, Tsunami has this won. Adster1005 12:28, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Very easy for me. Tsunami is fast, nimble and can hurl Ansgar 3 from the wide sides or head on. The spinner honestly isn't good. I don't even rate it as decent - cutting into Reaper NP2, not damaging I Bot One Beta, and dying in one hit to a sturdy front wedge vs. Tornado and Storm 2 just shows it isn't a weapon anywhere near capable of worrying Tsunami. Tsunami to suspend Ansgar 3's long shape against the arena wall, and then to reverse, come in again and flip it over the arena wall. NJGW (talk) 12:44, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Surviving the blows in the initial charge, Tsunami should get under and flip Ansgar 3 willingly but it may go to the judges as I don't think Tsunami will KO Ansgar 3.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:51, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  5. This is all very well and good, but you all have to remember, Ansgar 3 has no srimech. If Tsunami flips it over, isn't the sensible tactic to just leave it upside down? Given Ansgar's weight, I suspect Tsunami might just try to leave it, rather than risk anything. CrashBash (talk) 13:55, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
well, yes, that in itself is a very fair point haha! NJGW (talk) 14:06, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  6. A somewhat prolonged one-flip-and-done. TOAST 15:03, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Tsuanami can very likely get a flip on Ansgar before it gets seriously caught by the blade. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:41, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Ansgar 3
  1. There is no way Ansgar is getting thrown out, it's too wide and heavy for that. Tsunami was torn apart by X-Terminator's disc, which was admitted by the team was nowhere near as heavy and fast as other spinners of the era. If Ansgar hits the front of Tsunami's flipper with its spinner, Tsunami will be catapulted away with some big damage to the flipper bit. With that damaged, I can't see it being useful for flipping, leaving Ansgar with more of the little robot to smack at. If the flipper is really damaged, it can get the spinner inside the front and hit the internals, eventually causing terminal damage. Jimlaad43(talk) 12:27, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
Winner: Tsunami (7-1)

PulverizeR (Netherlands) vs Das Gepäck (Netherlands)

PulverizeR Das Gepäck
PulverizeR
Dasgepackcropped
Votes for PulverizeR
  1. Das Gepäck actually represents its own country for a change, but not for long in my opinion. Sure, PulverizeR is a decent shape to push around, but ultimately, I doubt this will really harm the spinner in the long run. With its greater damage output, PulverizeR is just going to cause massive cosmetic and structural damage to Das Gepäck overtime, negating any pushing the rammer can achieve. Therefore, Das Gepäck to survive to the end, but will lose the Jury's decision on damage alone. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 12:16, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  2. PulverizeR can cause greater damage and aggression, and whilst Das Gepäck might be able to push around PulverizeR, I think the damage already taken by Das Gepäck will mean PulverizeR will take a Jury's decision. Adster1005 12:26, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  3. I need to think about Tsunami vs Ansgar, but for the time being, I think PulverizeR, if we're assuming has its disc running, should probably edge out Das Gepack. It feels like it's better suited to cause damage than some other robots we've had Das Gepack lose to in this very tournament. CrashBash (talk) 12:41, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  4. I'd consider going for Das Gepäck if it actually dominated Fluffy and pushed it around into notably areas consistently. But it didn't. It doesn't deserve any praise for doing what 101 did vs. Hypno-Disc, which is showing that's it's barely able to dominate a machine that has no pushing power and that has lost its weapon. PulverizeR was always lowkey well driven too. It stayed its distance well. I think it'll be fine ripping gashes into Das Gepäck's body over the course of the time limit. NJGW (talk)
  5. When asked why the team entered this special with Das Gepäck instead of Alien Destructor II, they responded with "because the producers told us to". TOAST 15:01, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  6. On this occasion, dominating possession won't be enough for Das Gepack; PulverizeR's better damage will win the game. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:43, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Das Gepäck
  1. I dunno, perhaps Das Gepäck will just be an undamageable lump, with the vertical spinner only hitting the strong sides. Das Gepäck can push the axlebot around and get it into danger. What we also have to remember is that this is an international tournament, so sod's law states that PulverizeR's spinner isn't working anyway... Jimlaad43(talk) 12:28, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  2. I agree with Jim here. The ramming ability of Das Gepack should control the fight by allowing it to survive the blows and get behind or around the sides to control PulverisoR all it likes. Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:48, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
Winner: PulverizeR (6-2)

√3 (Netherlands) vs Spike (Netherlands)

√3 Spike

Spike
Votes for √3
  1. The trio finally get to perform in Dutch Series 3. Against Spike, they have opposition that theoretically can kill them off within a blow or two. That is, IF Spike can achieve an accurate blow or two. Indeed, videos of Spike in action show that while it is indeed powerful, nine times out of ten it will usually miss its foe. Against three small competitors, this is going to cost it dearly. Worse still, Spike tends to jump when it fires its weapon, enabling the trio to easily get underneath and do whatever they can to trouble their bigger opponent. Henceforth, √3's superior control shall be enough to help them win via a Jury's decision. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 12:16, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  2. √3 are more controlled, and if Spike jumps up, as Space says, the trio can get underneath and pushing Spike into a danger zone, such as a CPZ. Spike also has to kill two of these off, and since it's not very accurate, alongside the small machines, √3 will take a Jury's decision. Adster1005 12:24, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  3. √3 will just swarm around Spike and bully it into the pit. Jimlaad43(talk) 12:29, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  4. I don't think there will be a pitting, but Spike will need to be very lucky to land a blow on Worteldrie, so I suspect the clusterbot will win on a judges' decision...like it usually does. CrashBash (talk) 12:37, April 2, 2020 (UTC)

  6. √3 to dodge hits until Spike dies. TOAST 15:02, April 2, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Yeah, Spike isn't going to get a hit on any of the triplets, who can gang up on it around the sites and eke their way to victory. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:44, April 2, 2020 (UTC)

Reaper NP2 vs Tsunami (Germany)

  1. Whoever won the first battle, it didn't matter, because Tsunami will easily throw both I Bot One Beta and Reaper NP2 out of the arena. But hey, at least Reaper NP2 finally got a win in this series. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 21:33, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Technically, both these fights are rematches. But Reaper NP2 can't do the same strategy it tried with Not Perfect, not that this worked anyway, so Tsunami will certainly throw it out. CrashBash (talk) 21:40, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Tiiiime toooooooo, say gooooodbyyyyyyyeee. Jimlaad43(talk) 21:53, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
  4. One flip knocks Reaper out; Tsunami can try and OotA it if it wants, but it will matter not. Hogwild94 (talk) 21:54, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Tsunami beats Not Perfect 2 all over again. TOAST 22:20, April 3, 2020 (UTC)

PulverizeR vs √3 (Netherlands)

PulverizeR √3
PulverizeR

Votes for PulverizeR
  1. Ultimately, while this battle was a lot closer than I previously thought, it appears √3 just could not find a way for their aggression to outweigh the immense damage PulverizeR inflicted prior to one of the trio losing its wheel. Henceforth, while I doubt the trio will make the same mistake again, the damage they will accumulate will be too much for them to turn the tide of battle, losing via a Jury's decision. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 21:33, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
  2. What I got out of the actual fight between these two was that all Worteldrie could actually do was hinder PulverizeR. They seemed to be completely unable to push it, at least not properly. And when you can't push a robot with that dangerous of a flywheel, you're not going to win. It's as simple as that. Especially given how exposed two of the three parts' wheels were. CrashBash (talk) 21:42, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
  3. 1.73205080757/100 chance. Jimlaad43(talk) 21:54, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Yeah, I must go with the same logic as the actual fight; any minor aggression the triplets can manage will be outweighed by PulverizeR's damage/aggression. Hogwild94 (talk) 21:55, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
  5. I can't disagree. TOAST 22:21, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Don't wanna say we've seen it but...it was very convincing and well, we saw it already.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 07:03, April 4, 2020 (UTC)
  7. As much as I want to vote √3 to win, we kinda know PulverizeR's damage will outweigh the trio's aggression. Imagine if we put √3 in the Annihilator, I always wanted to see Gemini in the Annihilator. Adster1005 15:01, April 4, 2020 (UTC)

  1. PulverizeR working double duty here. So, I think the new champion has its work cut out, because not only is it facing two awkward opponents, but two awkward opponents that can swarm it. If Tough As Nails attacks Slicer, PulverizeR can just destroy Tough As Nail's vulnerable rear and wheels. If Tough As Nails attacks PulverizeR, Slicer can bounce Tough As Nails away, causing some decent damage to the rear. So, unless Slicer and PulverizeR decide to fight it out first, Tough As Nails is doomed no matter who it faces here. As for the battle of the spinners, PulverizeR feels a bit more secure and unlike Slicer does not need to conserve energy. It will probably secure a knockout or at the very least a victory via the Jury. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 10:08, April 5, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Can't really argue with Space's logic. I'd have PulverizeR defeat Slicer as is anyway. CrashBash (talk) 10:36, April 5, 2020 (UTC)

  1. These are still two robots that are certainly well shaped to be pitted. PulverizeR wil really struggle to deal with TAN if it gets in the claws, and I don't see TAN being vulnerable to Slicer's spinner one bit. The wheels of TAN will be fine, and as it can't be outpushed, it's got an easy task here. Jimlaad43(talk) 12:20, April 5, 2020 (UTC)

  1. To be fair, if Tsunami and PulverizeR collide head-on, chances are Tsunami will lose and get thrown into the air onto its back. If this keeps happening, PulverizeR should easily win this one. However, the main issue with PulverizeR is that it is too damn sluggish, continually exposing its sides against lesser opponents. This is fine against such foes, but not against the super quick and agile Tsunami. Eventually, I see Tsunami getting underneath the rear of PulverizeR, which is perfect for the German flipper to push and toss out of the arena. Germany once again beats The Netherlands. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 10:08, April 5, 2020 (UTC)
  2. The question here is, will Tsunami avoid choosing against following through with deciding to not abstain from throwing PulvierizeR out of the arena.....CrashBash (talk) 10:34, April 5, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Upon rewatching some of PulveriseR's battles from DS2 I am little mixed about is actual potential. I can't say it weapon was too good at much and it seemed to always struggle with control, with that in mind I say Tsunami is gonna have a VERY easy time here.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 10:56, April 5, 2020 (UTC)
