Back in our inaugural German series, Black Hole proved to be the cream of the crop, destroying many of its opponents before outmatching Tsunami to win the title. A new kid on the block in UK series terms, Black Hole now desires the UK crown to go along with its German championship. Of course, it has more challenges to overcome, including the double Dutch Grand Finalist Lizzard. So, LET THE WARS BEGIN!

Round 1

Black Hole (5) vs Vader vs Mechadroid vs Lizzard

  1. Black Hole and Vader. Oh, RANDOM.Org, why must you be so harsh on Mechadroid? Indeed, horrible draw for the plucky American, those exposed wheels look far too appealing for the spinners here. Meanwhile, while it is tempting to eliminate Vader based upon its poor reliability, it should still be noted that it had better reliability than Meshuggah. You also have to consider that the latter managed to tear into Lizzard's tail. A few more hits, and that tail might have been ripped off completely. Additionally, Team Vader ultimately admitted they were afraid of facing 259, while Black Hole has yet to face a competent spinner and thus may back off initially. Henceforth, two more reliable vertical spinners than Meshuggah should be capable of ripping Lizzard's tail off, working together to take out the Dutch machine, most likely on a Judges' decision. 2. Black Hole and Vader. I was tempted to eliminate Vader for being overturned by Black Hole's spinners, but I think it's wedged sides will only just stop Black Hole hitting it at the right angle to properly overturn it. Mechadroid is going to be torn apart by the spinners, and Lizzard's wedged sides are perfect for both vertical spinners to lay into. Lizzard will survive to the end, but be filled with so many slices and shreds it won't have a chance when the judges get involved. Jimlaad43(talk) 08:46, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Black Hole and Lizzard - Mechadroid's so vulnerable to the two big spinners, I can't see it surviving. Black Hole's the most potent machine here and is likely to be the big damage-dealer, it's comfortably through for me. Between Vader and Lizzard... I don't think Lizzard should be discounted - it was really durable throughout both Dutch Wars (with this version with stronger armour only dying when its top got caved in by Shunt), it stayed aggressive, and it should hang in there. We also know that Vader's run time is pretty close to the 5 minutes and it can't keep the disc on for the entire fight, so if Lizzard does prove difficult to get rid of and Vader has to spin down, Black Hole might see an opportunity to get rid of a potential threat. Combatwombat555 (talk) 10:10, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Black Hole and Lizzard: I don't think Vader is that great. In all three series it just seemed to be damaging after the first hit or two but then lost all that power soon afterwards and was way too easy to bully. Black Hole is damaging and aggressive and Lizzard was very durable, capable of surviving plenty of blows that were dealt.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 10:19, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Black Hole & Vader. Something which hasn't really been taken into account yet is Lizzard's fur tail, which intends to entangle spinners. Were this a one-on-one it might have a genuine impact, but here it unfortunately has to worry about not just one but three spinners! I don't doubt that entangling one Black Hole disc would probably entangle the other, and I do think the Germans are under more threat than Vader in that sense, but that just makes me think that Black Hole will avoid engaging with it. Once Mechadroid is sadly out of the picture, I think you can genuinely put this down to a head-to-head between Lizzard and Vader, but it is with regret that I'm leaning towards Vader. I'd love for Lizzard to get through, I really would, but Vader went the distance in its Series 6 melee (and was the driving force) so I'm not counting on it breaking down here unless Black Hole is gunning for it. Maybe the entanglement will steer others to back Lizzard, but I'm following the majority here. TOAST 11:24, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Black Hole and Lizzard. I would have gone for Black Hole and Vader, but Toast reminding me of the fur means I'm just swayed towards Lizzard. Black Hole can do what it wants to here, Mechadroid is off straight away thanks to the wheels. I see a good battle between the remaining three, I think Lizzard can get the sides of Vader, as well as Black Hole damaging both. Black Hole definitely through on the Judges', alongside Lizzard, but only just. Adster1005 15:17, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Black Hole vs Vader. Mechadroid obviously going to suffer badly from the two spinners, and Lizzard likely will too, making it to a judges decision it cannot possibly win. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:41, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  8. Black Hole and Vader - I did consider some left-field inconvenience from Lizzard, but ultimately, I do think Black Hole or Vader are more likely to throw it up and high than get themselves in danger with it. Sadly, Mechadroid is done for. NJGW (talk) 23:23, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  9. Black Hole and Vader. Pretty much having to agree with the current consensus. Mechadroid is stuffed and Lizzard won't be aggressive enough to beat out the heavy damage it suffers from both of the VS'es in the judges' decision. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 12:36, July 16, 2020 (UTC)

  1. Barber-Ous 2 and Probophobia. I am aware that Probophobia killed off Cyclone in pretty much one hit. Luckily for Barber-Ous 2, I don't think lightning will strike twice here, considering that the original, even more unreliable version of Barber-Ous didn't break down in one collision from Panic Attack. Additionally, if Barber-Ous 2'n a Bit, with a removable link even more prone to falling out because of a poor placement, survived a direct hit from Shredder Evolution, Barber-Ous 2 should be OK here. And to be fair, the remaining competition ain't great. Sabretooth entered without a weapon, and was easily killable as a result, while The Lethal Swan is The Lethal Swan. Would have been great to have seen The Lethal Swan compete in Series 6. Alas, it and Sabretooth will be quickly ruined by Barber-Ous 2 and then overturned by the drum or by Probophobia. Probophobia is one to watch in this heat... SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 08:31, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Probophobia and Sabretooth. Probophobia's spikes are perfect for popping Barber-Ous's pole. A good drive at the plastic drum and they will be caught on the spinner and penetrate it in much the same way Kan-Opener stopped Typhoon 2. Without the weapon, Barber-Ous will soon conk out or be pitted, leaving the other three to fight it out. The Lethal Swan seems to most passive and useless of the three remaining robots, and Probophobia could topple it over quite easily. Jimlaad43(talk) 08:48, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
I disagree. Remember that the sharp forks of Panic Attack couldn't pop the barber's pole either, and Probophobia's spikes were never known for damaging opponents either (as much as I am impressed by their lifting and pushing potential!). Plus, Barber-Ous 2 is far more agile than Cyclone was, and will likely dodge Probophobia for the most part. It will probably kill off Sabretooth and The Lethal Swan without too much trouble. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 08:53, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Barber-Ous 2 and Probophobia - These two facing off would be a great fight, but when the other two in the fight are that much weaker I can't really see them going for each other. Both Sabretooth and The Lethal Swan look very vulnerable to getting tipped over... or just torn apart, really. Combatwombat555 (talk) 10:17, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Barber-Ous 2 and Probophobia: I mean Sabretooth can be either toppled or battered and so can The Lethal Swan. Barber-Ous and Probophobia are two machines that can batter and lift...Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 10:20, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Barber-Ous II & Probophobia. As Space asserts, Barber-Ous II only ever broke down in totally understandable circumstances, and it was Barber-Ous II'n a Bit that was a deliberate downgrade. It's not durable by any means, but nothing here poses a direct threat to it. Sabretooth, meanwhile, seemed to be struggling for life before Terrorhurtz even hit it. Probophobia will flip the Swan and Barber-Ous will OHKO this primitive version of Sabretooth. TOAST 11:25, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Barber-Ous II and Probophobia Probophobia is getting The Lethal Swan over (and then presumably put on the flame pit, floor flipper and The Drop Zone, to the amusement of Jonathan Pearce), and Barber-Ous is damaging Sabretooth, either it or Probophobia will get it over. Adster1005 15:17, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Barber-Ous 2 and Probophobia. Lethal Swan is not a legitimate threat and Sabretooth may as well not be. CrashBash (talk) 15:38, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  8. Barber-Ous 2 and Probophobia. The Lethal Swan is easy fodder, and Sabretooth without its weapon is also going to be pretty easy pickings. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:43, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  9. Barber-Ous 2 and Probophobia. Both Sabretooth II and Lethal Swan are utterly hopeless at doing anything to impede its opponents, so they'll most likely be destroyed after relentless assaults from Barber-Ous 2. Lethal Swan will be destroyed and Probophobia will add another one-flip-and-done by taking out Sabretooth II. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 21:07, July 15, 2020 (UTC)
  10. Barber-Ous 2 and Probophobia - Barber-Ous 2 is fragile, but only to genuinely damaging attack, it should be fine with this bunch. Lethal Swan and Sabretooth likely to be churned up first. NJGW (talk) 23:25, July 15, 2020 (UTC)

Black Hole (5) vs Probophobia

Black Hole Probophobia

Probophobia
Votes for Black Hole
  1. Black Hole to keep the offensive up repeatedly throughout, causing more damage, being more aggressive, getting the wedge underneath Probophobia to push it to the House Robots. A Judges' Decision victory for Black Hole. Adster1005 08:09, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Probophobia's lifters are too small and slow to have much of a chance of turning Black Hole over. Black Hole will tear the armour apart, and one good hit on the side of the arm by the hinge could rip it off! Probophobia surviving to the judges isn't out of the question, but the damage wrought on it will be too much for the judges to ignore. Jimlaad43(talk) 09:07, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  3. If Black Hole had a serious issue with this weapon type, it would've lost to Hydrotec. The prongs of Probophobia are too far apart to lift Black Hole without it slipping off, they could only use one fork at a time, and I simply think the damage will add up. TOAST 09:53, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  4. I appreciate the vote for Probophobia, but I'm mostly getting Hydrotec vibes here. A better performance than Hydrotec, but still overwhelmed. Probophobia also doesn't look the more resilient in terms of bodywork. I see its body and prongs getting warped until it's unable to gain sufficient traction on the arena floor, which will allow Black Hole to damage it further and finish it off for good. NJGW (talk) 09:55, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Probophobia wasn't the best controlled machine and the armour was paper thin, all Black Hole has to do is drive carefully and smack into Probe as much as it can to cause heavy damage.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 10:31, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  6. I'd be all for supporting Probophobia, but its biggest issue here is that, at a glance, there doesn't look like there's anywhere on Black Hole for its forks to connect, let alone lift. Black Hole can punish Probophobia appropriately from there. CrashBash (talk) 15:49, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Black Hole isn’t large enough for Probophobia to get under with both forks at the same time, and I reckon Black Hole can easily get round the side of Probophobia and mess up the weaponry and the armour. Probophobia seemed to be very slow on the turn, and against a robot like Black Hole, it cant afford to be sluggish in any capacity. Raz3r(talk) 17:04, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  8. There's nothing on Black Hole for Probophobia to hook on to. And unfortunately, Black Hole's discs can make a massive mess out of Probo's boxy frame and lifting forks. There'll be some heavy damage dealt and Probophobia will end up flipped over, unable to self-right after constant attacks to its forks. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 17:14, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Probophobia
  1. I have recently become very impressed with Probophobia's performances, and it is starting to become a favourite of mine. Indeed, some have proclaimed it to be the "American Panic Attack", which is a fair label. I think it is actually well-designed to take out something like Black Hole. Firstly, its lifter will keep Black Hole at arm's length, preventing the German champion from attack the more vulnerable sides. More importantly for the purposes of this vote, Probophobia's lifter can get underneath Black Hole's somewhat high ground clearance and overturn it, making things much easier from here. Sure, Black Hole can still cause damage, but not nearly as much as before, while also being a lot easier to push. Providing Probophobia can achieve that lift, it can then start to push its foe and achieve further Panic Attack style lifts needed to win a Judges' decision or even achieve an expert pitting. Cue some Black Hole voters solely voting for it on damage potential. :P SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 08:05, July 17, 2020 (UTC)

Votes for Vader
  1. Yeah, this was not a great heat for the demon barber. It would have easily lost to Black Hole, and I would strongly consider Lizzard beating it too. Against Vader, we have two powerful yet unreliable spinners. However, the Sith Lord is more likely to achieve a knockout for two main reasons. Firstly, its sides will make it difficult for Barber-Ous 2 to land an effective blow. And secondly, Vader was capable of causing internal damage, just ask Aggrobot 3. If Vader could knockout Aggrobot 3 in one blow, it can do so against Barber-Ous 2. And even if Barber-Ous 2 survives the blow, its weapon certainly won't. That will allow Vader to control the battle from there. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 08:05, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Was considering a vote for Barber-Ous II, but Space has swung me with the inability to get a good hit on the sides. Vader meanwhile can get meaningful hits anywhere on Barber-Ous II, it might get a KO hit, but the Judges' will vote for Vader if not. Adster1005 08:11, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Barber-Ous is going to struggle to find an angle on Vader to hit, meaning it will be stuck having to go at the front of Vader, going spinner to spinner. Vader's high and thin blade with more reach will win comfortably, slicing through the barber's pole and stopping it quite quickly. Jimlaad43(talk) 09:11, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Barber-Ous died fairly quickly to an attack on Hypno-Disc - not by, ON, as in Barber-Ous instigated the attack (I'm convinced that's what happened). I mean, fair play, Vader is completely different being vertical rather than horizontal, but I'm not convinced Barber-Ous will be able to flip it. Vader's stability will likely play better in its favour here and just edge out Barber-Ous. CrashBash (talk) 15:48, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Barber-Ous 2
  1. I'm just sayin', these two fought in the Challenge Belt and Barber-Ous came out ahead. Granted that is entirely down to Terrorhurtz, but I will be backing the pole here. I think an awkward hit on Vader's disc will bend and jam the weapon, creating easy street for Barber-Ous II. Both can cause internal damage and both are liable to a breakdown, so I'm backing the stronger weapon. TOAST 09:56, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  2. I dunno. I feel Barber-Ous struggling to achieve the right angle is carrying a bit too weight. It's a very clever, nifty machine, and turns into its hits at the very last second. Yes, its body is just one long pole, but it creates angled attack by nature through the way it turns into attacks. I think it can compromise the areas to the side of Vader's spinner while taking the hit Vader itself will deliver, and power on from there. NJGW (talk) 09:58, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  3. One thing I love about the Classic series is the rock, paper, scissors of today’s modern combat hadn’t quite set in yet, as none of the designs are truly optimised. Take Barber-Ous II, whilst both robots were at their best I think Barber-Ous was more reliable as a big hitter and stands a better shot at getting a crucial one on Vader, whom may I remind you,‘s disc stopped spinning I think in every fight. The only thing they need to do then is stop the robot moving, as we all know Barber-Ous wasn’t great at long haul battles. I think they’ll manage it seeing how Vader died in the Challenge Belt. RelicRaider (talk) 10:32, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Whilst I don't personally rate Vader all that much, this is a fight it can win. That said, I just feel like Barber-Ous will come out on top when the two collide, which is likely to knock out both weapons, but given Vader's problems I fee it will suffer more than Barber-Ous, which is ironically the weaker armoured machine.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 10:35, July 17, 2020 (UTC)
