Votes for Infernal Contraption
- So. We have essentially the heat of my dreams here, where the plucky Shredder has somehow managed to become the runaway heat favourite. One of my favourite machines ever, known for getting beaten up but still trying its best against superior opposition, has actually been given the royal flush and looks set for heat victory. And I'm going to ruin it. Yes, I'm forced to turn against the Shredder I love so much in order to back Infernal Contraption, a robot I've more recently come to appreciate with a firmer grasp on its capabilities. This is a very similar clash to Infinity vs Infernal Contraption where the pushing of Infinity dictated the pace of the fight, but Infernal Contraption's damage to Infinity's weapon made the fight closer than it had any right to be. I see the same happening here, whereby Shredder will push Infernal Contraption around, but its discs will get bent and broken in the process. Not only will this be more crippling damage than the loss of Infinity's already-useless claws, but Shredder's much more vulnerable armour compared to Infinity is also going to show wear and tear. Sure, Infernal Contraption is awful at taking its weapon into its opponents, but when you have something like Shredder that dives headfirst into S3's disc just for the fun of it, Infernal Contraption is going to passively rack up damage that the judges won't be able to ignore. This isn't like Shredder Evolution vs Infernal Contraption where the actually damaging new discs of Shredder led to a KO, the discs on Shredder here won't have much of an impact. Infernal Contraption will at least initiate a few attacks of its own, lose on Control and Aggression overall, but win on Damage and Style (lol). TOAST 10:45, August 4, 2020 (UTC)
- Put Shredder Evolution against Infernal Contraption and suddenly this is a much more one-sided affair, but this is the version of Shredder famed for flimsy discs and driving into the pit. Though the spinning drum isn't too well-known for its ability to cause destruction, I really could see it hindering a weapon like Shredder's through repeated impacts and beginning to dictate the fight in the knowledge that they have key damage points if and when it goes to the judges. A Shredder victory this may end up being based on current votes, but Spin City this is not. SFCJack (talk) 22:49, August 4, 2020 (UTC)
- Swapping to the losing side, why? Well I decided to rewatch, or skim watch the Shredder and Infernal Contraption fights from Series 6-Extreme 2 mainly because on second though a comparison to Series 7 seemed a bit unfair given both had upgraded heavily. So rewatching gave me a bit of insight. Both had relatively awkward control but Shredder was slightly better. It then came down to weaponry and aggression. Infernal Contraption, I noticed was always on the attack no matter what (except the 259 fight) it almost always kept throwing itself at its opponents despite the fact it barely did much in return...or so we think. In the University Challenge melee, IC threw C.V into the air, battered Behemoth at the side and buckled Infinity as well as KOing Sgt Bash and Shredder on the other had got heavily damaged by both The Alien and S3, lost its weaponry quite easily and dealt very little damage (I mean look at the MouseTrap fight in Series 5 for example, it barely made any impact). With this new rewatch/insight I came to the conclusion that Infernal Contraption, can in fact win this fight very easily by damaging Shredder with the drum blade.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 16:31, August 5, 2020 (UTC)
- Agree with this side. Infernal Contraption will be harder to cause visual damage to, and its spinner will likely work for much longer. Going for it to take a war of attrition on the judges here. NJGW (talk) 03:41, August 6, 2020 (UTC)

Votes for Shredder
- Welcome to Jimlaad's Robot Wars Hell. It might not be a Heat Final, but it might be enough to scare him away from voting on this one. Anyhow, a simple victory to Shredder, to be honest. Considering Shredder did tank some punishment from S3 and The Alien, the inconsistent hits from Infernal Contraption will not be enough to trouble the purple machine. Shredder can then simply push the axlebot around, dominating through aggression more than damage output. Ultimately, Infernal Contraption will not cause enough damage to win a Judges' decision.SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 09:17, August 4, 2020 (UTC)
- Could Shredder be a semi-finalist? It's looking possible. Anyway, Shredder to constantly go on the aggressive and push IC all over the place, either pitting it, or letting the HR deal with it. Adster1005 10:01, August 4, 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think Shredder is as solid as its Evolution counterpart, so I don't see it playing out identically to their clash in Series 7. But I do still see it being the constant aggressor. CrashBash (talk) 10:05, August 4, 2020 (UTC)
- Don't worry, I'm very happy to see this in round 2 and not the heat final. Shredder will obviously turn up to this battle upside-down and be boring, will basically sit around and attempt to push Infernal Contraption while the axlebot flails about throwing away control and style points. Shredder can rack those points up easily (well, control. There's no style for deliberately trying not to use a weapon) and push Infernal Contraption towards the pit or CPZs. - Both these spinners will likely be able to cause minor damage to each other, but I feel Shredder's attacks on Infernal Contraption's tyres will be more visible and get more points than the reverse on Shredder's armour. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:36, August 4, 2020 (UTC)
- Infernal Contraption's drum was decent, but the control left so much to be desired that I just can't back it here - it just struggled so much to get its weapon into play. In five minutes against Infinity it got one decent hit to buckle the claw, but that was it. Honestly, Shredder might match it for damage by getting a thousand small cuts against Infernal Contraption's one reasonable blow - and even if Infernal Contraption does cause some damage Shredder will be so far ahead on aggression and control that it shouldn't really matter. - Shredder I can see starting upside down, they’ll know the spinners will stand little chance if they’re come once contact, and would probably stop working. Shredder itself will be durable enough to take the brunt of any hits, and will be far more aggressive and controlled in its approach, and shove Infernal Contraption all over the arena. No way is Shredder causing damage, but not do I think the damage Infernal Contraption can cause will sway the outcome. Raz3r(talk) 21:47, August 5, 2020 (UTC)
