Stinger, a proud Series 4 Grand Finalist, suffered a fall from grace in Series 5, failing to even escape its heat following a loss to the impressive S3. After having its robutt handed to it, and a fall from being the 5th seed to merely the 23rd, Stinger will want to show that its run in Series 4 was no fluke, by reaching that stage again. Nevertheless, there has been significant hype for a new vertical spinner called 259, with some calling it the next S3, and of whom is in this heat. Stinger, be wary! So, LET THE WARS BEGIN!

Round 1

Stinger (23) vs Alien Destructor 2 vs 259 vs Psycho Chicken

  1. Alien Destructor 2 and 259. Argh, I hate to say it, but I think the seed is buggered here. There is simply nothing it can do to stop a 259 onslaught, since it simply cannot avoid the spinner, not take out the exposed belt. What's worse is that Alien Destructor 2 is a decent robot for spearing the seed, while also being the most durable of the three in terms of surviving 259. Henceforth, I feel that the glass cannon should clean house, taking out Stinger in a barrage of blows that will cripple the seed in the same way it lost to S3. Psycho Chicken meanwhile will simply cease to exist upon contact with the spinner. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 10:48, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  2. 259 and Alien Destructor II. 259 is going on a rampage here. Jonathan can re-use his lines from Pussycat vs Robochicken in Series 4, because Psycho Chicken is being shredded and flung across the arena. Alien Destructor II can easily spear Stinger's tyres, and Stinger can easily be targeted, but cannot target 259's weak spot. Stinger sent flying, and if not by KO, then by a Judges' Decision will 259 and Alien Destructor II to go through. Adster1005 11:04, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  3. 259 and Stinger - The thing about Stinger is it survived spinners quite a lot of the time, yes it was KO'd twice I believe, but it mostly survived. Alien Destructor has weak armour and no real offence other than ramming attacks, which would be great if it had better opponents...Stinger is too slippery and very durable which I implore people to consider greatly while 259 is destructive unless the belt is taken out. Oh and Psycho Chicken's involved...Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 11:41, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  4. 259 and Stinger. 258 will obliterate Psycho Chicken in only a few seconds, and without any risk of being flipped over, will ride those points to the end, even if it does lose the weapon chain halfway through. Alien Destructor will have a bad time against the spinner too, and should struggle to deal with Stinger, which can score the points for being the one to take 259's spinner out. Jimlaad43(talk) 12:34, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Stinger and Alien Destructor. Stinger is absolutely the worst robot 259 could face, especially if Stinger starts doing its own spinning trick. I feel fairly confident the weapon chain will go and subsequent shoving from Alien Destructor could cause a breakdown...if it doesn't just randomly stop by recoil ala the Judge Shred fight. Obviously Psycho Chicken is gone. CrashBash (talk) 15:33, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Stinger and 259. Oh dear, Psycho Chicken better run run run run run run run away! (Someone had to do it) And I suspect, given 259's vulnerability to slams, Adam Clark will steer well clear of Stinger and instead go after the robot with lots of body to hit/damage. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:48, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Stinger and 259. Stinger is the one in the least danger here. A good side swing from Stinger threatens to damage 259's weapon belt to the delayed response of Jonathan Pearce, maybe even knock the whole robot over if there's a gyroscopic turn involved. Alien Destructor is structurally solid but has a lot of decorative bits to destroy. It'll be exactly like Alien Destructor vs Twisted Metal where the former left the arena in perfect working condition, but its decorative shell was torn up and that cost it the decision. 259 is happy to provide. If Stinger and 259 don't engage (and why would they) then they're sorted here. TOAST 20:22, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  8. 259 and Stinger - yeah, Stinger is definitely vulnerable here, but I think both of these machines will find joy just attacking the chunky and fragile bodies of their other opponents. NJGW (talk) 01:41, August 10, 2020 (UTC)

Blackdevil Warzone vs UFO vs Tartarus vs Not Perfect

  1. Blackdevil Warzone and Not Perfect. Bit of a lower tier melee, this one. So, we can easily eliminate Tartarus, considering it died under mild pressure and the three opponents can at least deal that to it. As for the trio, I feel UFO is probably the least likely to do something here. Indeed, the spinners are more likely to take out Tartarus (scoring good damage and aggression points as a result), while both can at least inflict minor damage to the awkward UFO. UFO, in contrast, seemed to be an ineffective pusher in Series 6, taking some time to defeat an already eliminated machine in The Stag. I just feel that of the trio, Blackdevil Warzone and Not Perfect should win in terms of damage and aggression, edging out UFO on a Judges' decision. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 10:48, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Blackdevil Warzone and Not Perfect. I can't disagree with what Space said. It'll be rather easy for Tartarus to fall, followed by UFO's awkward blade meaning that it can't really do much aggression, whereas the others can. A slightly more open heat than the other one. Adster1005 11:09, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Blackdevil Warzone and Not Perfect - Same as the above, glad to see Blackdevil Warzone be the strongest here.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 11:42, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Blackdevil Warzobe and Not Perfect. Agreed, Tartarus will limply breakdown and UFO will be eliminated for doing the least in the battle on the judges. Jimlaad43(talk) 12:36, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Blackdevil Warzone and Not Perfect for reasons mentioned above. CrashBash (talk) 15:31, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Blackdevil Warzone and Not Perfect. Alien Destructor cursing its luck that it was in the other melee instead of this one, it'd beat all four of these. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:49, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Blackdevil Warzone and UFO. Well sorry to disrupt the perfect harmony, but I think UFO is the single most likely to qualify. It lacked good weaponry but it was quick and active. I think they'll get stuck in and be the lead contributor. Blackdevil Warzone should cause a bit of chip damage, maybe causing Not Perfect's wedge to fall off, for a relatively unimpressive qualification. Not Perfect will be a bit lethargic and score few points. Tartarus will show the signs of damage from its second encounter with Blackdevil Warzone and hold a few stabs from UFO too. I'd back Not Perfect if it was quicker, but a slow wedge that falls apart isn't a great combo. TOAST 20:26, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  8. Blackdevil Warzone and Not Perfect - Blackdevil Warzone's got the only even slightly damaging weapon in the fight, and Tartarus will die fairly quickly. Between UFO and Not Perfect, UFO struggled to impose itself much in its melee - it was trying to get involved, but its weapon seemed to hinder it more than anything. Not Perfect's big wedge should enable it to control UFO more than vice versa, and I can see UFO taking a little more (superficial) damage from Blackdevil Warzone too, which won't stand it in good stead if the fight goes the distance. Combatwombat555 (talk) 23:35, August 8, 2020 (UTC)
  9. UFO and Blackdevil Warzone - yeah, I pretty much agree to the point with Toast. UFO to push consistent and reliable at getting points on the board, while Blackdevil Warzone takes the only decent Damage points. I personally see little appeal in Not Perfect here, and UFO outclasses it for manouevrability, sharpness, and an ability to grind out points as far as I'm concerned. 1. To be honest, I do think at least design-wise, Blackdevil Warzone had potential to beat Stinger. With a bit more speed, a bit more damage potential in its drum, and ultimately much more reliability, I could see it beating the seed. Alas, even before Neater took out the tyres, Blackdevil Warzone seemed to tire, something that won't help it survive the relentless pounding of the mace. Stinger to control this one, the seed achieving a knockout in its own time. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 08:25, August 10, 2020 (UTC)

  1. The reason why 259's relentless pounding of Wild Thing is famous to even casual fans is that the majority of machines not called Wild Thing would have suffered greatly from every passing hit. Not Perfect is, well, perfect for 259 to achieve a barrage of blows that this time will lead to a knockout. After all, Not Perfect's wedge broke away against Tsunami, leaving it not only vulnerable to more attacks, but also compromising its invertibility from the looks of things. If 259 can keep landing the hits, there is absolutely nothing Not Perfect can do, especially since it lacks any means of taking out its foe's belt. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 08:25, August 10, 2020 (UTC)
