Votes for Weld-Dor
- Well, Weld-Dor wasn't as feeble as it may've looked, it dug deep to stop King Buxton forcing it down the pit. The bigger question for me is whether Scutter's Revenge goes the distance, because every fight lasting longer than 30 seconds saw it grind to a halt. Besides, who knows, Weld-Dor could be quick enough to get round the sides and try to get the forks into play. Datovidny (talk) 21:45, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
- Sure, why not. I do agree with Datovidny that Weld-Dor, at least against 101, was resilient. Upon re-watching its loss to 101, I was surprised to see how aggressive it actually was, lifting its opponent several times and causing some aggression with the axe. Thing is with Scutter's Revenge, as Datovidny has mentioned, it was never that reliable and a few lifts from the side and even front will probably cause some problems to its internals. I trust Weld-Dor to persevere, even when on the back foot at the start, to trouble its opponent with its lifter, before ultimately causing a breakdown with a good shove. - Scutter's Revenge had strong drive power, that is undeniable. But it was sluggish, and Weld-Dor is a very awkward shape to push around. That, coupled with Scutter's Revenge's long, wide body and Weld-Dor's handy forks means that I'll side here. NJGW (talk) 04:31, July 23, 2019 (UTC)
- I'll back that, Scutter's Revenge was just a bit slow to manoeuvre, and Weld-Dor getting the forks into play and getting some lifts in, coupled with the odd minor axe blow, should see it take the judges' nod should it go that far. Combatwombat555 (talk) 10:15, July 23, 2019 (UTC)
- Weld-Dor is more mobile than Zeus and Thermador, and its rounded sides and big wheels mean it'll be able to more easily escape Scutter's Revenge's powerful but pondorous push. If Weld-Dor can get away from Scutter's Revenge's front, it can dictate the aggression, damage and control. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 10:38, July 23, 2019 (UTC)
- Time to tie the scores! Consider this a vote on behalf of Anthony Murney, a good pal to me and the Robot Wars History Podcast crew, who owns this very version of Weld-Dor. This is interesting, because both robots lost to 101 in the same series, although I do think Weld-Dor put on the best performance of the two, completing some weapon uses and also reaching the Judges' decision. Scutter's Revenge was very dependant on the pit being open and easy to reach, I think they'll struggle in the larger reboot arena which also requires them to press the Arena Tyre, something they'll be very slow in doing. There should be plenty of opportunities for Weld-Dor to get underneath, and once the lift starts, Scutter's Revenge will be totally hooked. If Scutter's Revenge doesn't complete a pitting then it simply doesn't have the means to score more points than Weld-Dor's two weapons, and it has to not break down too. Heck, if it's loss to 101 was caused by poor radio reception from its aerial, then it might not even work in the first place when placed in the reboot arena - but of course, we wouldn't want to factor that kind of stuff into a fantasy tournament. - That would have to go into the Schrodinger's floor category of assumptions. Without evidence of how it would fare in different arenas, just assume that something like that is as seen. Arena choice only affects layout, hazards, size, start points and battle length. Unless it is explicitly stated that a robot has interference issues or not with something relevant to the reboot arena, just assume it acts as it did when seen. - Weld-Dor can lift Scutter's Revenge and control it, it'll likely open the pit before lifting Scutter's Revenge's wheels off the ground and pushing them down the pit. Sam (BAZINGA) 20:39, July 23, 2019 (UTC)
- Backing the surprise. Scutter’s Revenge is too sluggish for Weld-Dor, and the lifts will outweigh the potential pushes for aggression points. I can see it demonstrating superior control and getting round the sides enough times to either clinch the judges decision or hold on long enough for Scutter’s Revenge to break down. Votes for Scutter's Revenge
- A good Series 3 clash here. I trust the Scutterbots entry a bit more in this case, as although Weld-Dor could score points with its axe, and could puncture the top armour, I can see Scutter's Revenge being just that bit more aggressive all throughout, and will keep Weld-Dor in the backfoot, pushing it all around the arena for more of the fight. It'll be close, but Scutter's Revenge to just take it. Jimlaad43(talk) 19:26, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
- For a second I thought Scutter's Revenge was in the previous Heat. Anyways, easy win here, Series 3's Weld-Dor may be the better of the machines in almost every aspect but it will be bullied like it was by King B and 101, two other rambots.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 19:39, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
- Weld-Dor might get a few attacks here and there, but its axe wasn't that good and its forks won't flip Scutter's Revenge over. Really, Scutter just needs to push Weld-Dor into the pit. Maybe more difficult in the reboot arena than the arena these two fought in, but I still see it happening. CrashBash (talk) 19:55, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
- The usual push-and-pit routine is all Scutter’s Revenge really needs to do. Weld-Dor has the weapons, but its past experiences against King Buxton and 101 speak for themselves. VulcansHowl 20:13, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
- Scutter's Revenge will hit the pit release and after a bit of pushing about the arena, will get Weld-Dor in the right position to just charge it into the pit. Adster1005 (talk) 20:41, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
- Nice match up, but Weld-Dor won't be so lucky when pushed pitwards from the start this time. Hogwild94 (talk) 21:47, July 22, 2019 (UTC)
- I've just come out of nowhere to screw the tie up again. Ah, well. Scutter's Revenge seems to be more effective of the 2 'bots and despite how slow it is, I never felt as if Weld-Dor was able to control pushing 'bots well whatsoever. Though Scutter's Revenge is a bit of a ponderous machine, I feel as if it'll slowly but surely push Weld-Dor into the open pit and secure a victory in steady fashion. --doot (Formerly DemonOfTomorrow) 19:04, July 23, 2019 (UTC)
