Round 1

Triterobot vs Gyrobot

Triterobot Gyrobot
Triterobot
Gyrobot
Votes for Triterobot Votes for Gyrobot
  1. Gyrobot's spinning outside ring should find the series 3 armour pretty easy to tear apart, and it's not like Tri-Terra-Bot has any hope of responding to Gyrobot if anything goes wrong. Jimlaad43(talk) 10:54, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. Because Gyrobot actually looks like it could cause damage in some form. Triterobot just doesn't have any way to do anything to most 'bots, least of all a series 7 spinner that can do some decent damage if it gets going. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:13, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. Yep.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 11:59, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. Triterobot has no front, no back, no top, no bottom and no hope. CrashBash (talk) 13:38, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  5. Tri-torn-up-and-beaten-bot. VulcansHowl 15:53, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  6. Gyrobot should be quite happily the third best robot on this side of the heat, wishing it luck! TOAST 19:51, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  7. Gyrobot can damage the arena wall, it will have no trouble here. SFCJack (talk) 20:13, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  8. Even I'm voting for Gyrobot here; Triterobot just cannot beat any non free pass. Hogwild94 (talk) 21:12, November 19, 2019 (UTC)

Spam vs Ironside3

Spam Ironside3

Votes for Spam Votes for Ironside3
  1. To be honest, the wheels are the least of Spam's worries here. One hit on the armour and Ironside3 will go straight through it. This will basically be what I expected Apex vs Track-tion to actually be, where I predicted "are we going to see a robot cut in half in this battle?". Oh how right/wrong I was! Jimlaad43(talk) 10:54, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. Ironside3 will demolish Spam on the first hit with its weapon. That tin-opener won't even do anything to resist. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:15, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. C’MON IRONSIDE! Easy win here.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:00, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. Spam to drive down the pit. Deliberately. CrashBash (talk) 13:38, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  5. Knowing that Spam is a polycarbonate Spam cylinder with exposed Spam wheels, Ironside3 should have no problem Spam tearing Spam apart with its Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam… VulcansHowl 15:53, November 19, 2019 (UTC)

Propeller-Head vs Hammer & Tong

Propeller-Head Hammer & Tong
Propeller-Head
Hammer and Tong
Votes for Propeller-Head
  1. The spinner could fall off Propeller-Head in an attack that was clearly Hammer & Tong causing the damage, and still come out on top in the battle if it went to the judges. The much faster and better robot to push and tear away at Hammer & Tong, which won't last long at all. Jimlaad43(talk) 10:54, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. Hammer and Tong's overall design is far too unwieldy to even do anything to Propeller-Head. A few hits on the sides will eventually render H&T immobile after Propeller-Head's overhead blade breaks the armour and drivetrain. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:18, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. Yep. Some easy match ups here...Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:00, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. That armour looks really suspect for a Propeller-Head attack. Especially given what it did to Vert-I-Go. CrashBash (talk) 13:39, November 19, 2019 (UTC)

Coffin-Bot vs Robo Savage

Coffin-Bot Robo Savage
CoffinBot
Robo Savage
Votes for Coffin-Bot Votes for Robo Savage
  1. Robo Savage has this easily. It should be able to keep the wheels out of the spinner (not like Coffin-Bot has the power to seriously damage them) and can shove and flip the loanerbot until something falls out inside. Jimlaad43(talk) 10:54, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. 2 loanerbots, and the more modern one will take this fight easily. A few flips will be more than able to make up the points, not at all mentioning that putting Coffin-'Bot into a CPZ will most likely destroy it beyond repair. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:27, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. Tough battle. You see Robo Savage has extremely weak armour, exposed wheels as well as weak power behind the flipper. But then again Coffin Bot died to a non spinning Revolutionists ramming it into the side wall...Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:55, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. I'd hope Robo Savage would be able to stand up to a preboot loanerbot. Especially one like Coffin-Bot, that was seemingly so useless even TPTB realised this and never repurposed it for anything else afterwards. CrashBash (talk) 13:37, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  5. Coffin-Bot better be ready for another burial... VulcansHowl 15:53, November 19, 2019 (UTC)

Widow's Revenge vs Major Tom

Widow's Revenge Major Tom
Widow's Revenge
Majortom
Votes for Widow's Revenge
  1. MT's flipper won't do anything here, and Widow's Revenge should find itself able to ramp under the sides of Major Tom and cause some superficial damage with its spinners. Tom to be vaguely pushed into danger repeatedly. Jimlaad43(talk) 10:54, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. The first 4 fights are cakewalks, but now we get into some admittedly tough fights to decide. Both these 'bots aren't the best when it comes to attacking or mobility, but I have more faith in Widow's Revenge's spinning weapons to deal more damage than Major Tom somehow finagling a one-flip-and-done on the big and unwieldy Widow. I think this will ultimately end in a judges' decision, but the damage from Widow's saw and rear drum is going to make the difference in the end. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:34, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. It won't be the most interesting battle in the world but the spinners should cause some damage and sway the victory to their hands.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:56, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. Major Tom's "flipper" seems like more of a lifter to me anyway. I get the feeling that it only goes up as far as the official shot shows anyway. Widow's Revenge was a fairly bulky machine, I don't think Major Tom has the reach to overturn it even if it props it up and keeps driving. Widow's Revenge was never going to win a heat, considering it was pretty much guaranteed to fight Razer given the circumstances, but it looked like it would have been decent against lesser-tier bots like the original Major Tom. CrashBash (talk) 13:32, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  5. Had Widow's Revenge been a one-time loser then I'd probably back Major Tom here, but I guess Sumpthing was enough of a "statement win" for me to back it here. TOAST 19:56, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  6. S4 Major Tom's lifter could lift 12st - 76kg. Widow's Revenge was the full 100kg, so I can't imagine Major Tom will be able to get the KO. Widow's Revenge at least has two spinning weapons to score aggression throughout the fight, if not damage. SFCJack (talk) 20:22, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  7. The rolling pin will throw Major Tom over! Hogwild94 (talk) 21:15, November 19, 2019 (UTC)

Loco vs MaxiMill (D1)

Loco MaxiMill (D1)
Loco
MaximillNL1
Votes for Loco
  1. You know what, I'm going to side with Loco here. It might not have been the quickest or best robot in Series 2, but it was at least vaguely durable and had enough speed to be a little trouble to others. MaxiMill on the other hand has a weapon which never worked, and didn't exactly utilise the full weight available to them - only being 4kg heavier than Loco. Loco isn't at risk of being flipped over with this opponent, so its more progressive slams and pushes will convince the judges in their favour. Jimlaad43(talk) 10:54, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. I'm on board with this logic, actually. Even with Maximill's weapon working, I doubt it'll be able to cut through Loco's armour. Meanwhile, Loco was quite a nippy machine, being able to push decently enough. Another judges' decision will happen, but Loco's ramming is going to be more effective. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:36, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. Maximill is one of those robots I really like the look of for some reason. Beside that it could win with a good ram or it could get rammed to death by Loco.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:57, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. It's generally really hard to back a robot that doesn't really work properly. Considering Maximill supposedly isn't that much heavier than Loco, it can't really even win a pushing match. A surprise victory for the Series 2 heat finalist, it seems. CrashBash (talk) 13:41, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
Votes for MaxiMill (D1)
  1. MaxiMill's blade would badly crumple Loco's paper armour even if it didn't spin. If it does spin, well, we can tall less about crumples and more about cuts. TOAST 19:57, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. I'm inclined to back MaxiMill here too. I don't trust their offensive capability, but I trust Loco's even less so. Static weaponry and being the lighter robot here will be Loco's downfall in my eyes. SFCJack (talk) 20:29, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. Remember, this is pre Hypno-Disc armour we're dealing with; even a meh spinner can damage that sufficiently to take the judges vote here. Hogwild94 (talk) 21:16, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
But can a spinner that never spun do the damage? MaxiMill's flywheel didn't spin up in its fights. Jimlaad43(talk) 21:31, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. Yeah, Loco has the worse armour, and even general bumping and pushing will do some form of damage to Loco's shell. MaxiMill to edge this. NJGW (talk) 21:48, November 19, 2019 (UTC)

Cobra (UK) vs Track-tion

Cobra (UK) Track-tion
Cobra
Track-tion
Votes for Cobra (UK)
  1. Unpopular opinion: Track-tion was the least competitive machine in all of Series 10. I am dead serious. You remember CrashBash's many comments regarding Cerberus' inability to fight? Well, at least Cerberus had evidence that it could hold its own. Track-tion could barely even move most of the time, heck, just look at how sluggish it was during the 10 Robot Rumble. Most competent robots would run rings around it, the only reason Apex lost was because Track-tion was defended by something meant for Vulture. Now, I admit that calling Cobra "competent" would mean I would massively overrate it. But at least it could move a bit before a flip from Kronic the Wedgehog messed its drives. But what can Track-tion actually do to Cobra? It is too slow really, and even Cobra could use its spike to damage Track-tion's tracks and push its Series 10 foe around. This may be a surprise, but to me, Cobra easily has this. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 11:06, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. Of all the fights I've voted for in this tournament, this has to be the most painful one by far. I really dislike Cobra, and I should be voting it out, yet here I am putting my support for this hateful machine. But here's the thing that tips this in favour of Cobra - Track-Tion was honestly the most disappointing 'bot I've ever watched fight in all of Robot Wars. I expected a 'bot that'd harken back to the days of Suicidal Tendencies, and yet when I saw it fight I was beyond let down with how agonisingly slow it moved around the arena. In fact, I agree with Space entirely regarding that statement he mentioned - hell, I'd even say it was one of the least competitive machines of the modern series full stop. This will probably be an incredibly dull match, but Cobra is at least quicker than Track-Tion and will win on aggression. I need a drink... --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:48, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
Votes for Track-tion
  1. Track-tion should be able to quite simply slide under Cobra and wiggle it towards the pit. Cobra's spike of not-doom will do very little to Track-tion in any case, so the chance of retaliation is minimal. Jimlaad43(talk) 10:54, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. Come on, Track-tion may have been uncompetitive for the time, but this is Cobra we're talking about. Cobra, an almost weaponless box that not only died on one side immediately in its melee, but also died on one side immediately under no pressure in Techno Games of all shows. Track-tion was pretty slow but Cobra wasn't exactly rapid either. Cobra's also got a high ground clearance (even ignoring the bevelled sides that feed robots underneath even more) that Track-tion's front forks should easily be able to get underneath and enable it to start gripping, which is more than Cobra can manage. In a pushing match, Track-tion has every advantage. Combatwombat555 (talk) 13:00, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. Yeah, for what it's worth, at least Track-tion was somewhat competent at, well, being a robot. Cobra was just flat-out unreliable and broke down simply by moving, let alone being attacked (thanks to our resident marsupial for pointing this out). Track-tion just needs to keep moving and Cobra will eventually grind to a halt through no fault of the school-based robot. CrashBash (talk) 13:28, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. While I can attribute its Series 7 defeat to internal damage caused by Kronic's flip (it must have done far better in its qualifier, surely?), the above comments about Cobra also losing drive on one side, on its own, in Techno Games, make me seriously doubt its durability against the glacially slow Track-tion. While footage from the Assault Course run in question suggests that Cobra is potentially the faster machine, I'd also suggest there is a possibility that if it rams the Collingwood Carnage machine early on, it may end up causing Kronic levels of damage to its own motors. Combined with a spike that jammed the moment Cobra first tried to use it, and Track-tion could very well outlive its older and sprightlier opponent here. The forks - along with the Arenas of Destruction-style beak - may also prove handy in exploiting Cobra's ground clearance, gripping and feeding it - albeit very slowly - to the hazards and House Robots. VulcansHowl 16:41, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
Apparently, it beat a robot with a skull and crossbones theme. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 20:47, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  5. The fact we’ll lose either Terrorpin or Robopig makes me angry considering this awful match up. Swapping sides as I pretty much forgot about the Techno Game appearance (and I'm an admin on the WIKI!) Cobra was just uncompetitive, I initially did agree the speed factor and the obvious target in the tracks would sway it but really thinking about it, Track tion can and should be able to win by doing very little, Hell it may even push and shove Cobra onto the flame pit which should be enough to kill it!Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 17:06, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  6. Cobra literally lost drive immediately in its fight. Put Cobra in fights against Rapid x2 and Concussion and it too would get beaten immediately. Heck, put Chaos 2 in and it'd get as many attacks in. It's harsh to call Track-tion disappointing when it faced those robots, and it'll comfortably control the limited shots of Cobra. NJGW (talk) 17:12, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  7. Cobra to beach itself on Track-tion's forks, and 20 seconds pass before Dan remembers he can drive the robot forwards, and wins the decision based on one lethargic but meaningful push. I swear, Track-tion was fully mobile against Apex and yet when I watched the fight live, it took the team far too long just to prove they were still mobile. TOAST 20:00, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  8. Cobra absolutely does not dominate this fight. Track-tion is reboot quality and let's not forget, is built to push and bully, with speed purposely compromised for brute force. Meanwhile, Cobra is a two-wheeled Series 7 machine which doesn't even make use of the full weight limit. Track-tion has a pair of front forks that can get underneath and can snag Cobra in place while the crusher does its work, whereas Cobra's shape means it will likely ride up Track-tion as opposed to anything else. By the way, Cobra has a pneumatic spike that can only fire 6 times in a fight. SIX. As Nick says, put Cobra against any robots of the same quality Track-tion faced (relative to Series 7 of course) and Track-tion suddenly wouldn't seem disappointing. SFCJack (talk) 20:42, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
Me and Doot completely understand that the Reboot machines Track-tion faced would eat Cobra for dinner, we are not debating that. What we are debating is that Track-tion was just so damn sluggish that any competent robot would run rings around it. Yes, Cobra is by no means competent, but at least it theoretically can just avoid driving onto Track-tion's forks and just attack the sides, where Track-tion would have NO resistance. I completely understand why most would disagree, but for now, I would vote all of the other current Round 1 winners over Track-tion, and that includes Terrorpin and Widow's Revenge. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 20:47, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  9. Track-tion to shunt Cobra into the it easily. Hogwild94 (talk) 21:16, November 19, 2019 (UTC)

Terrorpin vs Robopig

Terrorpin Robopig
Terrorpin
Robopig
Votes for Terrorpin
  1. A first round battle between two non-trash tier Series 3 alsorans? You love to see it! Terrorpin is my choice here, it had decent fundamentals and a good round shape that should deflect Robopig whenever they try to push it away, and if Terrorpin can get around the side of Robopig, I can see it doing some decent little drives for the pig into the CPZs. This will actually be a bloody close battle when it goes to the judges, but I feel Terrorpin will just have the edge. Jimlaad43(talk) 10:54, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. Both these 'bots weren't that bad for Series 3. However, I have to edge this for Terrorpin as it just seems to be the better pusher of the two, but only just. It'll be a really close fight, but unfortunately Robopig won't be able to out-push the deceptively effective Terrorpin. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:41, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. Don’t wanna lose either robot D: I guess the pecking head should sway this. Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:04, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. A fairly standard pushing match, but Terrorpin should easily come out of this the faster and more aggressive machine. VulcansHowl 15:53, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  5. Neither robots have very effective weapons but Terrorpin has a speed advantage over Robopig who can only get up to 4mph. It should be able to push Robopig around and make some toasty bacon for the house bots. --Headbanger14/The Hardcore Kid 00:03, November 20, 2019 (UTC)
Votes for Robopig
  1. For Series 3 standards, I think this would have been a surprisingly enjoyable fight. The two robots may not have been great, but they were surprisingly decent and innovative for their era, with the former's adjustable-on-the-fly ground clearance and the latter's electromagnetic brakes. Also, both had very innovative weapons for what it's worth. And both worked the animal themes very well. However, I do think the slight edge here should go to Robopig, who I feel will have the better chance of pushing Terrorpin around. Also Robopig's spike is more in a position to attack Shelly than the other way around. CrashBash (talk) 13:26, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  2. Terrorpin is presumed to win this on pushing power because it pitted something, but Robopig is the one running four motors. As far as I can tell they both use Bosch 750s so in a pushing battle between two flat surfaces, I favour the 4WD bot. TOAST 20:02, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  3. Robopig to use its drive and superior shape for pushing to shove Terrorpin around the arena more often than the other way around. Up the Robopig! SFCJack (talk) 20:44, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  4. If the first RW magazine had been running during S3, this would've been a nailed-on fantasy fight! Robopig's greater pushing capabilities wins the day here. Hogwild94 (talk) 21:17, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
  5. Terrorpin is one of those machines that has a moment that you can remember, but I'd be surprised if anybody can name anything aside from the Pitting that happened in Terrorpin's fights. That includes me too. I just rewatched the fights, and Terrorpin really does virtually nothing in the Vercingetorix fight except from the pitting push. It swerved around, didn't get a push in for ages, and went into Matilda's CPZ. Terrorpin recovered well from the moment of danger to get at Vercingetorix's rear, and then continue to push towards the Pit, but that's pretty much the only thing Terrorpin ever did. Its second round battle against Invertabrat might well be the single-most forgettable battle in Robot Wars history. Nothing happened apart from it swerving around and getting its shell dented in a bit. Robopig is the more balanced, grounded machine and I at least trust it to push cleanly and not drive itself into danger. NJGW (talk) 22:01, November 19, 2019 (UTC)
