Votes for Spawn Again
  1. Spawn Again may take a couple of hits from the flywheel of X-Terminator, but its slanted sides mean they'll only reach far enough to be a light graze on the armour. Spawn Again meanwhile has a massive and proven flipper which can certainly slide under the massive robot and throw X-Terminator over to land on its top. Tsunami showed that when turned fully over, X-Terminator can't self-right and Spawn Again should be sensible enough to leave it there - especially with the 10 seconds of immobility of the reboot rather than 30 plus Refbot of the preboot. Jimlaad43(talk) 22:06, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Spawn Again is a good enough flipper to flip X-Terminator without getting caught by the blade, and the team are sensible enough not to make the same mistake as Tusami. Hogwild94 (talk) 22:10, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Spawn Again will survive the first few attacks, and then get a flip in from the side, and rest X-Terminator against the side walls, do it can't self-right. Adster1005 22:12, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  4. I felt X-Terminator would be able to deal with nearly every single one of the preboot machines, with the only exception being Typhoon 2...but now I think about it, I do feel Spawn Again might give it some issue. It depends on who is actually lower at the front, but I'm not entirely convinced Spawn Again's lip will be quite as badly affected as St Agro's or Bulldog Breed's, so even if that does happen....also, Spawn Again is experienced enough not to try and flip X-Terminator out of the arena and then accidentally rerighting it. No Tsunami pulled here. CrashBash (talk) 22:16, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for X-Terminator
  1. Spawn Again to go in head-first, fail to breach X-Terminator's wedge, and then take significant damage to the lip of the flipper. The battle is decided from there. TOAST 22:10, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Spawn Again's last two battles ultimately force me to vote for X-Terminator. Against R.O.C.S., Spawn Again demostrated poor control, allowing the crusher to initially gain the upper hand. You cannot have lapses in control against Series 7 X-Terminator, because it will punish it with well-timed hits. And secondly, Spawn Again ultimately damaged itself against Raging Knightmare, and we really did not get to see whether this Spawn Again would withstand powerful hits from spinners (it flipped out Chip before its opponent could do anything, and Revenge of Trouble & Strife's drum was too high to target Spawn Again properly). Henceforth, Spawn Again to make a mistake, allowing X-Terminator to break its opponent with powerful, well-timed blows. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 22:45, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Remember when S3 broke off the flipper lip? Toon Ganondorf (t c) 23:40, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
On a completely different version of Spawn Again with terrible reliability in comparison that therefore makes that a bit irrelevant? Yes. Jimlaad43(talk) 01:15, January 22, 2020 (UTC)
Aside from the fact that I disagree that Spawn Agains reliability and design are so enormously different, X-Terminators increases power on S3 makes up for it. That flipper lip is still just attached, it’s not a piece of the flipper. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 01:56, January 22, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Spawn Again's flipper lip is very vulnerable. It's just an extra panel bolted onto an arm - it's not supported underneath, so any good contact will rip it from those bolts I think. Spawn Again also has a damageable, wide front area in general. I do think Spawn Again will get shown up here. NJGW (talk) 05:16, January 22, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Spawn Again is just vulnerable altogether, hits will come quite frequently and piece and chucks will be torn off, I wouldn't be surprised if a hit or two does manage to cause some severe reliability or internal issues. Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 06:52, January 22, 2020 (UTC)
  6. X-Terminator's absolutely either buckling up or ripping off that lip to render Spawn Again's weapon useless. From then, it's just a wedge that can't get under anything, and X-Terminator can spend the remainder of the fight attacking with the flywheel without needing to worry about being overturned. Votes for Tough As Nails
  1. I’m still going to vote for TAN based on the footage. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 23:41, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Eruption
  1. Eruption's pushing power and flipper will completely neutralise anything Tough as Nails will try. 3 minutes of bulldozing from the black robot will win comfortably. Jimlaad43(talk) 22:06, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Tough as Nails will be totally unable to grab hold of Eruption, and will get flipped and flipped and flipped, all the way to an easy judges decision. Hogwild94 (talk) 22:11, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Eruption will cancel out any good attacks by TaN, and will be more aggressive to take the Judges'Decision. Adster1005 22:13, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  4. We've probably all seen the live event battle between Eruption, TAN and Tiberius at this point, and it would be a wonderful fairytale ending to repeat that fight and send TAN through to the Top 8 at Eruption's expense. Indeed, I don't think this should be a unanimous fight and people are welcome to vote for TAN based on its 2015 win. For me though, TAN's former advantage of coming out on top whenever Eruption overflips the pair of them is simply something Michael Oates would've learned from by now. He's well aware that within the grip of TAN, flipping his opponent would only turn Eruption over and put TAN in a position to pit it. You can even see during the same match that Eruption heavily tones down their flipping after the first mistake or two. Here, Eruption will simply push its way to victory, only flipping TAN during side-on attacks. TAN can only attempt a fighting game-style bait-and-punish strategy, but Eruption's not going to take the bait anymore. TOAST 22:15, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  5. I fully expect this to go to the judges, but I also fully expect Eruption to get the majority of the major attacks in. Most likely, it'll only try to flip TAN after ramming it into a hazard or wall, thus loosening its opponent's grip. CrashBash (talk) 22:17, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Me and the rest of the Wiki saying Tough As Nails beat Eruption in the 2015 Robot Wars World Championship is as common as WhatCulture Wrestling stating JBL beat up the Blue Meanie at ECW One Night Stand 2005. However, Toast is right, and I am also voting for Eruption because I feel its changes overtime will count for it, unlike in 2015. I still have fond memories of that battle, watching it live in the arena. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 22:42, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  7. I mean Tough as Nails """could""" grab Eruption and pit them and to be fair I don't think Eruption will get a KO here, but alas I also feel Eruption will flip them about with quicker and careful control.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 06:54, January 22, 2020 (UTC)
  8. I'd be very surprised if in a 1v1 environment, Eruption was to allow TAN to grip and pit it. For me, with no third robot as a distraction, Eruption will flip TAN about the arena to their heart's content and either knock something loose or simply take the JD on aggression and control. • Quarter-Final, Round 1: Beat Twister (Series 7) (12-0)
  • Quarter-Final, Round 2: Beat Cobra (Belgian) (13-0)
Votes for Terrorhurtz
  1. Terrorhurtz will get flipped a bit, however, the axe damage will count towards aggression and damage, and should it avoid the side walls, I believe Terrorhurtz will take it in a tight judges decision. Adster1005 22:10, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Apollo
  1. Apollo doesn't strike me as the kind of robot to be massively affected by an overhead axe, and Terrorhurtz showed itself to be particularly vulnerable to well driven and powerful flippers in its battle with Rapid. I'm not predicting an OotA as Apollo's shape isn't as good for scooping and pushing as Rapid's was, so a push to the arena wall is less likely, but Terrorhurtz getting pinned in a corner is certainly a possibility. Jimlaad43(talk) 22:06, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Apollo is strong and reliable enough to withstand multiple axe blows from Terrorhurtz, and the inevitable flippings will rack up more aggression points. Hogwild94 (talk) 22:12, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Terrorhurtz was defeated by Rapid fairly competently and it was Eruption that ultimately ended it in the 10 Robot Rumble. Therefore, Apollo should have very little issue here. CrashBash (talk) 22:19, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  4. HARDOX being commonplace in the reboot always put a ceiling on the performance of axebots, and the likes of Apollo are simply too strong for Terrorhurtz to damage. Terrorhurtz needs its axe not only to land shots, but also self-right, and it simply won't have enough gas to do enough of both over the three minute fight. It also helps that Apollo fights the axebot Vulcan about six times in a weekend whenever Robots Live! is touring, and from competing at these events, I can verifiably say I've seen Apollo win the fight in just about all of those. TOAST 22:20, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Ultimately, Terrorhurtz was just no longer capable of beating the latest flippers. It does not help that I rate Apollo more than RAPID, when we know the latter overpowered the axe machine. Apollo to either waste Terrorhurtz's gas through relentless flips, or achieve a very rare out of the arena. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 22:47, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Yeah, I can't see Terrorhurtz keeping its wheels on the ground long enough for a good hit to take place, it will be hounded.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 06:55, January 22, 2020 (UTC)

  • Quarter-Final, Round 2: Beat Dominator 2 (10-3)
Votes for Typhoon 2
  1. Typhoon 2 will run away, spin up and then obliterate Manta in a couple of strikes. Manta just doesn't have the weaponry to stop Typhoon, and if it does get to Typhoon before the Scottish robot has fully spun up I can just see it being batted away because it can't flip it over. Jimlaad43(talk) 22:06, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Yeah, pretty standard Typhoon 2 victory; stay away at first, build up a head of steam, then go in for the kill and blow away the opponent. Hogwild94 (talk) 22:13, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Typhoon 2 runs away, attacks, runs away, attacks. Repeat until Manta is KOed or Typhoon 2 to win via the Judges'Decision. Adster1005 22:15, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  4. As horrible as it is to say this on such a cool machine, Manta is by and far the weakest robot left in the competition, and no matter who it faced, it was going to get gutted. One good hit and Typhoon 2 is going to cause some serious damage. CrashBash (talk) 22:20, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
Hmm, I'd probably vote for Rosie the Riveter to beat it, but that's still a close match. One that I very much wanted to happen. Either way, while Manta should be hideously outclassed at this stage, it's not even the definitive weakest. TOAST 22:24, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
Care to elucidate? Just out of curiosity, really. CrashBash (talk) 22:29, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
Whilst I think Rosie's wedge would allow it to beat Manta head-to-head, I think Manta's greater defence (particularly against spinners and wedges better than Rosie) makes it the superior machine overall. Additionally, there are still matchups where I would've voted Manta through to the Top 8, as I'd quite happily have it beat Tough as Nails, and possibly Hypno-Disc too. TOAST 22:53, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Alright, fair enough, I'm still voting for Typhoon 2. But you know what? I think this fight would be fantastic. I'm fairly sure Manta is armoured in titanium, so there'll be sparks aplenty, and Manta should generally hold up to Typhoon 2's blows quite well. Manta will get some charges too, and attempt to dictate the pace, but can only be so controlled without a wedge. Whilst Typhoon 2's damage will be minimal on Manta's armour, it will at minimum disable Manta's spinner, and maybe buckle the catch points on Manta's front. Most importantly, even if Typhoon 2's hits don't cause major damage, even the spinners still earn control and aggression points for successful blows. I think Manta will come tantalisingly close to a win here, and while I'd be wholeheartedly cheering for it to reach the Top 8... damage carries more weight, they'e gONE FOR TYPHOOOON TOAST 22:24, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Manta will put up a decent fight, but even with one hundred percent heart, I struggle to see it beating Typhoon 2 unless it pits it. Typhoon 2 to break the weapon, before ultimately grinding Manta down overtime. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 22:42, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
And let's have a look at who will compete in the second Semi-Final: Behemoth, Big Nipper, Carbide, Hypno-Disc, Magnetar, RAPID, Rosie the Riveter 2 and Wheely Big Cheese. Honestly? Aside from maybe one robot (which even then I am not confident voting for), the second Semi-Final, and possibly the rest of Ragnabot 3, is Carbide's to lose. The two Carbide-killers, Terrorhurtz and Tough as Nails, are more than likely going out here, and I really doubt Eruption can repeat its Grand Final performance again. On another note, I argue that the only way a preboot robot can get into the Grand Final now is if we see the winners of battle 1 and 4 face each other next round. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 22:56, January 21, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Manta is good and is certainly fast and aggressive. But I feel that Typhoon 2's usual and somewhat effective tactic of running away and dodging attacks so that the spinner can spin up to speed will benefit it here, dodge and weave as it then slams back in and sends Manta across the arena floor where it has caused heavy damage to Manta, rinse and repeat until Manta is dead.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 06:57, January 22, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Manta
  1. A vote for Manta to use its aggressive, direct nature to cause worry for Typhoon 2 early on. Typhoon 2 excelled a lot in the old arena because it had so much space to carry out long, vertical/horizontal drives in without having to decelerate. The reboot arena can cause issues in this area. I think Manta will cut across Typhoon 2 boldly and use its vertical spinner to notable effect to win this. NJGW (talk) 05:20, January 22, 2020 (UTC)
