Heat the Eighth sees us cross the North Sea to The Netherlands, where we will be borrowing their losers melee format. This allows a lucky loser to progress from the first round and have another attempt at getting through the heat. The melee loser can still qualify for the final, thus definitely not appearing on Space's list, so we'll just have to see if that eventuality happens.

Round 1

Velocirippa vs Overkill GTI

Velocirippa Overkill GTI
Velocirippa Fourth Wars
Overkill GTI
Votes for Velocirippa Votes for Overkill GTI
  1. On the face of it, both of these robots are very similar. Both wedges with a bit of speed behind them. However, Overkill has flippers, which within the 5 minutes should find a gap under Velocirippa to overturn it. Without the rollover bars, the robot which always seems to lose is destined for another. Jimlaad43(talk) 18:48, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Considering how outclassed it was, and considering it had a flat tyre, Overkill put up quite a decent fight. It should be able to lift Velocirippa around once they make contact. CrashBash (talk) 18:54, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Overkill GTI was a good robot in a bad draw, Velocirippa was Velocirippa. TOAST 19:10, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Overkill is a robot I've given grief to in the past I really want to change that, especially as it was speedy and low to the ground (well at the front) and should dispatch Velocirippa easily.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 19:12, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Overkill to lift and overturn Velocirippa at some point within the five minutes, and potentially side strand it. Adster1005 19:33, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Overkill should be able to sort of lift Velocirippa a bit, and that should somehow count more than any aggression Velocirippa's slamming could do. Hogwild94 (talk) 20:25, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Overkill should manage to get the flip in at some point. Combatwombat555 (talk) 20:34, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  8. Gosh, I rate Overkill GTI. Extremely quick, a low ground clearance flipper (spoiled a bit by the very high ground clearance sides...) and one that endured ruthless aggression from its opponents. Velocirippa is plenty quick, but ultimately suffers in terms of reliability and lack of real aggression. Overkill GTI to take advantage, securing a knockout. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 21:42, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  9. Expecting Velocirippa to lose is like expecting to be surprised that water is wet. Overkill GTI will get a one-flip-and-done sooner or later. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:25, May 12, 2020 (UTC)

Small Torque vs Aggrobot 2

Small Torque Aggrobot 2

Aggrobot2
Votes for Small Torque
  1. For me we didn't really see enough to confidently say Aggrobot 2 could win a head-to-head. It had opportunities against SMIDSY that it didn't seize, and even Saw Point had the measure of it. I don't think Small Torque was too bad, I'll forgive the overheating for Round 1 and say that the lil disc can churn up a bit of Aggrobot, and the general boxy nature will push through like previous All Torque machines. TOAST 20:56, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Small Torque is super underrated in my opinion. When it worked, it could bounce opponents like Splinter as if it were an early Barber-Ous, and was ultimately very aggressive and agile. Plus, even if Small Torque is unreliable, so too is Aggrobot 2 as proven against S.M.I.D.S.Y.. For me, I think the initial aggression from Small Torque should be enough to really control this one, bouncing it around and ultimately securing a knockout. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 21:42, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Aggrobot 2
  1. Aggrobot is fast, aggressive and well designed for this fight. It can get its nose low, scoop under Small Torque and keep it pushed away and at bay. Small Torque won't get any damage in and should be dumped in the pit whenever the producers decide to open it. Jimlaad43(talk) 18:48, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Aggrobot 2 feels like a natural progression for the original Aggrobot, but Small Torque feels like a massive step back from All Torque. I think All Torque would have taken this, but sacrificing its major strength (literally) for a tiny little disc won't help Small Torque here. CrashBash (talk) 18:56, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Small Torque could have been the best of the Torque series but it was so damn unreliable that I really can't see it surviving the full match against the ramming power of Aggrobot.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 19:15, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Aggrobot II will push Small Torque around the arena, before putting it in the pit. Adster1005 19:35, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Probably the best Aggrobot vs the weakest Torque robot built as a serious entrant rather than as a child pleasing entrant, pretty comfortable victory for the Leach bros, maybe even a side stranding. Hogwild94 (talk) 20:27, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
Completely disagree, Small Torque had super potential whereas Series 7 Aggrobot was superior to Aggrobot 2 in almost every way. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 21:42, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Small Torque's disc could have been reasonable, but the teeth on it are so small that it's never going to get a decent bite, especially not at 4000rpm. The odd scuff from the disc won't outweigh Aggrobot 2 ramming and shoving Small Torque all around the arena. Combatwombat555 (talk) 20:40, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Small Torque was just a full-on downgrade from the beast that All Torque was. Aggrobot 2 is more than nimble enough to ram Small Torque around the place and force a breakdown to happen. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:27, May 12, 2020 (UTC)

Steg 2 vs The Predator

Steg 2 The Predator
Steg 2
Predator
Votes for Steg 2
  1. I think The Predator Pre-Dates designs to protecc against big-ass flippers. Jimlaad43(talk) 18:48, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Anyone who votes for The Predator is just deliberately trying to rig Space's Clean Sweep blog. OFKO. CrashBash (talk) 18:57, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Flashbacks to Heat A, as the only real-life heat winner is again the stand-out best in attendance. Steg 2 to take it, I would guess. TOAST 19:12, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Insert Space comment about Steg 2 losing this fight...and the next... and the next. But yeah, once under Predator's going over.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 19:14, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  5. It's the usual OFAD. Adster1005 19:36, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Yeah, I needn't talk at length here. Hogwild94 (talk) 20:28, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Flip. Combatwombat555 (talk) 20:41, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  8. Unpopular opinion. I see Steg 2 losing to three robots here. Yes, you read that right... three. Based on Toast's comments, my opinion is most certainly unpopular, but as we proved back in Audited Series 2 Heat K, claiming a robot (Cassius in this case) will inevitably win the heat leads to arrogance that can lead to upsets (gosh I miss Oblivion's amazing run). The Predator to be ordered by Chris Hansen to take a CPZ over there, eventually leading to the police force hired by Dateline Wikia (Steg 2 and the House Robots) to take the suspect to the ground (or in the case of Steg 2 and Sir Killalot, OFF the ground).
