Heat the Eighth sees us cross the North Sea to The Netherlands, where we will be borrowing their losers melee format. This allows a lucky loser to progress from the first round and have another attempt at getting through the heat. The melee loser can still qualify for the final, thus definitely not appearing on Space's list, so we'll just have to see if that eventuality happens.

Round 1

Velocirippa vs Overkill GTI

Velocirippa Overkill GTI
Velocirippa Fourth Wars
Overkill GTI
Votes for Velocirippa Votes for Overkill GTI
  1. On the face of it, both of these robots are very similar. Both wedges with a bit of speed behind them. However, Overkill has flippers, which within the 5 minutes should find a gap under Velocirippa to overturn it. Without the rollover bars, the robot which always seems to lose is destined for another. Jimlaad43(talk) 18:48, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Considering how outclassed it was, and considering it had a flat tyre, Overkill put up quite a decent fight. It should be able to lift Velocirippa around once they make contact. CrashBash (talk) 18:54, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Overkill GTI was a good robot in a bad draw, Velocirippa was Velocirippa. TOAST 19:10, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Overkill is a robot I've given grief to in the past I really want to change that, especially as it was speedy and low to the ground (well at the front) and should dispatch Velocirippa easily.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 19:12, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Overkill to lift and overturn Velocirippa at some point within the five minutes, and potentially side strand it. Adster1005 19:33, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Overkill should be able to sort of lift Velocirippa a bit, and that should somehow count more than any aggression Velocirippa's slamming could do. Hogwild94 (talk) 20:25, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Overkill should manage to get the flip in at some point. Combatwombat555 (talk) 20:34, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  8. Gosh, I rate Overkill GTI. Extremely quick, a low ground clearance flipper (spoiled a bit by the very high ground clearance sides...) and one that endured ruthless aggression from its opponents. Velocirippa is plenty quick, but ultimately suffers in terms of reliability and lack of real aggression. Overkill GTI to take advantage, securing a knockout. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 21:42, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  9. Expecting Velocirippa to lose is like expecting to be surprised that water is wet. Overkill GTI will get a one-flip-and-done sooner or later. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:25, May 12, 2020 (UTC)
  10. A little flick from Overkill should do the job. NJGW (talk) 18:34, May 12, 2020 (UTC)
Winner: Overkill GTI (0-10)

Small Torque vs Aggrobot 2

Small Torque Aggrobot 2
Small Torque
Aggrobot2
Votes for Small Torque
  1. For me we didn't really see enough to confidently say Aggrobot 2 could win a head-to-head. It had opportunities against SMIDSY that it didn't seize, and even Saw Point had the measure of it. I don't think Small Torque was too bad, I'll forgive the overheating for Round 1 and say that the lil disc can churn up a bit of Aggrobot, and the general boxy nature will push through like previous All Torque machines. TOAST 20:56, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Small Torque is super underrated in my opinion. When it worked, it could bounce opponents like Splinter as if it were an early Barber-Ous, and was ultimately very aggressive and agile. Plus, even if Small Torque is unreliable, so too is Aggrobot 2 as proven against S.M.I.D.S.Y.. For me, I think the initial aggression from Small Torque should be enough to really control this one, bouncing it around and ultimately securing a knockout. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 21:42, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Aggrobot 2 would need to do something special to win this fight. With how easily Small Torque penetrated Splinter's armour , the damage is easily going to be high, and in Small Torque's favour. Aggrobot 2 showed little capability in its two fights, and probably was even KO'd in the corner by Sawpoint in Round 1. Really think Small Torque can dominate this fight. NJGW (talk) 18:40, May 12, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Aggrobot 2
  1. Aggrobot is fast, aggressive and well designed for this fight. It can get its nose low, scoop under Small Torque and keep it pushed away and at bay. Small Torque won't get any damage in and should be dumped in the pit whenever the producers decide to open it. Jimlaad43(talk) 18:48, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Aggrobot 2 feels like a natural progression for the original Aggrobot, but Small Torque feels like a massive step back from All Torque. I think All Torque would have taken this, but sacrificing its major strength (literally) for a tiny little disc won't help Small Torque here. CrashBash (talk) 18:56, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Small Torque could have been the best of the Torque series but it was so damn unreliable that I really can't see it surviving the full match against the ramming power of Aggrobot.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 19:15, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Aggrobot II will push Small Torque around the arena, before putting it in the pit. Adster1005 19:35, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Probably the best Aggrobot vs the weakest Torque robot built as a serious entrant rather than as a child pleasing entrant, pretty comfortable victory for the Leach bros, maybe even a side stranding. Hogwild94 (talk) 20:27, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
Completely disagree, Small Torque had super potential whereas Series 7 Aggrobot was superior to Aggrobot 2 in almost every way. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 21:42, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Small Torque's disc could have been reasonable, but the teeth on it are so small that it's never going to get a decent bite, especially not at 4000rpm. The odd scuff from the disc won't outweigh Aggrobot 2 ramming and shoving Small Torque all around the arena. Combatwombat555 (talk) 20:40, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Small Torque was just a full-on downgrade from the beast that All Torque was. Aggrobot 2 is more than nimble enough to ram Small Torque around the place and force a breakdown to happen. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 11:27, May 12, 2020 (UTC)
Winner: Aggrobot 2 (3-7)

Steg 2 vs The Predator

Predator
Votes for Steg 2
  1. I think The Predator Pre-Dates designs to protecc against big-ass flippers. Jimlaad43(talk) 18:48, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Anyone who votes for The Predator is just deliberately trying to rig Space's Clean Sweep blog. OFKO. CrashBash (talk) 18:57, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Flashbacks to Heat A, as the only real-life heat winner is again the stand-out best in attendance. Steg 2 to take it, I would guess. TOAST 19:12, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Insert Space comment about Steg 2 losing this fight...and the next... and the next. But yeah, once under Predator's going over.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 19:14, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  5. It's the usual OFAD. Adster1005 19:36, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Yeah, I needn't talk at length here. Hogwild94 (talk) 20:28, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Flip. Combatwombat555 (talk) 20:41, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  8. Unpopular opinion. I see Steg 2 losing to three robots here. Yes, you read that right... three. Based on Toast's comments, my opinion is most certainly unpopular, but as we proved back in Audited Series 2 Heat K, claiming a robot (Cassius in this case) will inevitably win the heat leads to arrogance that can lead to upsets (gosh I miss Oblivion's amazing run). The Predator to be ordered by Chris Hansen to take a CPZ over there, eventually leading to the police force hired by Dateline Wikia (Steg 2 and the House Robots) to take the suspect to the ground (or in the case of Steg 2 and Sir Killalot, OFF the ground). SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 21:42, May 11, 2020 (UTC)
  9. Steg 2 starts off its campaign with a fast one-flip-and-done to take down The Predator. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 12:13, May 12, 2020 (UTC)
  10. My poor boy The Predator gets turned over swiftly. NJGW (talk) 18:41, May 12, 2020 (UTC)

Velocirippa vs Small Torque vs The Predator

Velocirippa Small Torque The Predator
Velocirippa Fourth Wars
Small Torque
Predator
Votes for Velocirippa
  1. I honestly think Velocirippa's being hard done by here. Yes, it died after one attack - after Razer went right through the steering servo, which is an attack that nothing here can repeat. Small Torque's got the best weapon in the battle and should tear up The Predator's sides nicely, but in a fight that's likely to go the distance I can't see it surviving to the end with its overheating problems. Velocirippa and The Predator last to the judges' decision, but Velocirippa goes through on the basis of being more aggressive (Velocirippa was getting stuck in well before it lost steering, and even afterwards to be honest- as well as it could, anyway) and The Predator suffering damage. Combatwombat555 (talk) 16:59, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Small Torque
  1. Small Torque can try to bite away at the side of Velocirippa with the disc, scoring points and avoiding being pushed about. The Predator isn't even worth considering, except for damage points maybe. Jimlaad43(talk) 13:32, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Small Torque to keep nicking the side of Velocirippa and The Predator to take a Judges Decision, and whilst Velocirippa might be aggressive, I think Small Torque will still take it. Adster1005 13:38, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Small Torque highly unfortunate to be here in the first place. I don't imagine it will beat Overkill GTI or Steg-2, but if it does come up against Aggrobot 2 again, expect a longer vote this time. TOAST 13:43, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
  4. I do love The Predator, but to me this is a comfortable Small Torque victory. Velocirippa and Small Torque did indeed get KO'd from one attack each, but those were still attacks that caused some form of internal shake/damage. The Predator will struggle to replicate those type of things. Small Torque to consistently cut into The Predator, while Velocirippa lowkey causes problems for both by being aggressive. However, it breaks down as the fight progresses, leaving Small Torque's spread-out damage to seal the deal on a judges' decision. NJGW (talk) 16:31, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for The Predator
  1. As much as I want Small Torque to win here, let's not underrate The Predator here. In terms of durability, it wins by miles, considering it survived multiple Hypno-Disc blows whereas Velocirippa could not survive one Razer crush while Small Torque died against Eric. Secondly, The Predator's lifter is very useful here. It is perfect for catching and toppling the small, srimechless Velocirippa, while its range enables it to outpush Small Torque into potential harm. Ultimately, I feel that if Hypno-Disc took multiple hits to take out The Predator, Small Torque never will, and as this battle drags on, The Predator should secure the knockout victory by pushing a vulnerable Small Torque into the CPZ, where the House Robots should inflict critical damage. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 13:46, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Was gonna vote Small Torque but Space's vote here has managed to swing this for me. If Predator keeps its front against Small Torque, Small Torque will only grind and won't have any real way to fight back, plus if you throw a running away but occasionally attacking Velocirippa into the mix, then Small Torque really won't be lasting the full bout. Of course, Velocirippa will be avoiding the fight for pretty much 80% of the time so it won't win. Leaving Predator who can out last the others and try to be controlled, damaging and aggressive.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 16:03, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
  3. The truth of the matter is, I just don't trust Small Torque in the long run. Yes, it'll outlast Velocirippa. Yes, it should be the most effective of these three. But we all saw how easy it was to burn out when it didn't have the cooling system...and frankly, we have no reason to believe that it even has the cooling system for this fight, or even if it would have worked at all. Therefore, ultimately The Predator wins largely by outlasting the other two. Also, on a separate note, I'm legit surprised that the Robot Wars Magazine never thought to have a Fantasy Fight between Predator, Arnold A and X-Terminator, as they literally called out the "Arnie" connection in one of the magazines. Pitbull vs Scutter's Revenge

Pitbull Scutter's Revenge
Pitbull mag
Scutter's revenge
Votes for Pitbull
  1. It's good that Pitbull has been given a bigger challenge here, but at the end of the day it's a lot quicker with a more useful weapon. Scutter's Revenge is very grabbable and also vulnerable to the odd breakdown or two. Pitbull takes this for me. TOAST 13:43, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
  2. I love Scutter's Revenge, but it was a ticking timebomb to say the least. Both are probably as good as each other in terms of pushing, but Pitbull's ability to grab the sides should give it the edge. As this battle drags on, Pitbull is going to gain the upper hand, eventually meaning a few more slams should grind Scutter's Revenge to a halt. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 13:48, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
  3. As cool as SR was it didn't have great reliability, it's matches in Series 3 were relatively easy and we saw once it faced real competition that it was easily outclassed. Pitbull to win by out lasting it and having the jaws to score some points.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 15:57, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Having thought about this a bit, Pitbull to take it for me. SR's reliability wasn't the best and Pitbull to push around SR to take a Judges' Decision victory. Adster1005 16:25, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Scutter's Revenge is as good as match as anybody around for era for a pure tug of war, but involve swift turning, aggressive, meaningful slams and durability, and it likely falls short in this type of matchup. NJGW (talk) 16:33, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Scutter's Revenge
  1. To me, Scutter's Revenge is the better pusher with the lower wedge at the front, able to slide under Pitbull and push it around to take control. Pitbull might grab the side of Scutter a couple of times, but I can see Scutter being more likely to get the deadly, or at least meaningful, pushes. Jimlaad43(talk) 13:32, May 13, 2020 (UTC)
