Welcome to Random Format Series 4, where all robots from Series 4 are placed into heats at random, with the format unknown until the heat begins. In this, Heat the First, we head to what was actually the last format as we meet the Series 10 Redemption bracket format. Three-way melees start us off with one winner declared. 2nd and 3rd then battle for a place in the heat Semi-Finals where they'll face the winners from round 1 before heading onto a heat final.

Round 1

Please remember to rank each robot in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in your votes

The Creature vs Judge Shred 2 vs Behemoth

  1. 1st: Behemoth, 2nd: The Creature, 3rd: Judge Shred 2. Behemoth is the best robot by a long way here, and it does come down to which robot will it target first, as it can defeat both with one flip. The Creature's large size probably works in its favour as Behemoth will find it easier to flick Judge Shred 2 over - I mean we actually have evidence it can flip Judge Shred over as it did! So The Creature gets 2nd on a technicality, rather than skill. Jimlaad43(talk) 19:17, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Whilst it may not be very reliable in Series 4 (breaking down in all of its fights!) 1st: Behemoth is obvious choice for a winner, flipping and tanking damage, providing it doesn't have problems...2nd: Judge Shred The Creature can't self right and neither can Judge Shred but at least Judge Shred as a decent flipper and axe to help it while in 3rd: The Creature doesn't have much to defend itself...Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 19:22, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  3. 1st: Behemoth, 2nd: Judge Shred 2, 3rd: The Creature. Behemoth took some time to defeat Judge Shred 2. Henceforth, I honestly see the bulky and sluggish Creature being toppled early on. Judge Shred 2 to be flipped over eventually. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 19:24, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Behemoth first, Judge Shred 2 second and The Creature third. It's a pretty simple win here for Behemoth and really it comes down to which robot it wants to take out first. Given The Creature's sluggish speed, it will be far more vulnerable to Behemoth's flips, and probably even Judge Shred's flips. Ultimately, both are OF&Ds. CrashBash (talk) 19:25, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  5. 1st: Behemoth, 2nd: Judge Shred, 3rd: The Creature. The Creature obviously easy pickings for the two flippers, and we've seen Behemoth beat Judge Shred before. Hogwild94 (talk) 19:26, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  6. 1st: Behemoth, 2nd: Judge Shred 2, 3rd: The Creature, Behemoth can get either machine over quickly, and I think Judge Shred 2 could help flick The Creature up, and Behemoth would then swoop in and completely overturn it, before Behemoth eventually flips Judge Shred 2. Adster1005 19:28, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  7. 1st: Behemoth, 2nd: Judge Shred 2, 3rd: The Creature - Behemoth's the clear winner, but honestly a difficult choice for second and third; Behemoth found Judge Shred 2 a bit awkward to turn over initially, but The Creature's dome shape (under the decoration at least) might help it roll back over... Ultimately that's probably not going to help The Creature very long though. Combatwombat555 (talk) 20:25, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  8. 1st. Behemoth, 2nd. The Creature, 3rd. Judge Shred 2. There isn't any true reasoning as to which robot Behemoth kills off. It'll just go for whatever robot ends up closest to it or the ones it naturally drifts towards. I'm going for The Creature to finish 2nd because most other people have gone Judge Shred 2 2nd, and it needs to be reflected to some degree just how random this KO will be. Who knows if Behemoth will flip whatever is closest to it, if Judge Shred 2 attacks The Creature and Behemoth flips Judge Shred 2 while it's distracted, if Behemoth joins Judge Shred 2 in attacking The Creature and flips The Creature over, if Anthony Pritchard is right handed so instinctively attacks the robot on his right side first. It's just a lot of randomness. NJGW (talk) 08:18, April 9, 2020 (UTC)
  9. 1st. Behemoth, 2nd. Judge Shred 2, 3rd. The Creature. If Behemoth doesn't necessarily want to flip The Creature first, then Judge Shred could always kill it on its own. The OHKO in the head-to-head between Behemoth and Judge Shred wasn't as quick as we remember. TOAST 10:31, April 9, 2020 (UTC)
  10. 1st: Behemoth, 2nd: Judge Shred 2, 3rd: The Creature. At least Judge Shred looked like it could turn within a 12-decade timeframe. Still, Behemoth will one-flip-and-done both these 'bots, with Creature getting taken out first as it was really, really slow and JS2 following the same fate not long after. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 14:18, April 9, 2020 (UTC)
1st: Behemoth, 2nd: Judge Shred 2, 3rd: The Creature

  1. 1st: Kater Killer, 2nd: Knightmare, 3rd: Inverterbrat. This will go to the judges. Kater Killer can self-right if flipped and all can drive upside-down, so it's a case of which robot will do the most? Inverterbrat hasn't got ground clearance on its side, so I can see Knightmare sliding under it a lot and at least trying to flip it over. Kater Killer does have the reach with its flipper to get Inverterbrat over, and I can see it pushing Knightmare from the side quite effectively too. A close judges' decision between the top two to go in Kater Killer's favour. Jimlaad43(talk) 19:17, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  2. 1st: Knightmare, 2nd: Inverterbrat, 3rd: Kater Killer. Pretty interesting one here. Now, apparently Kater Killer could self-right, but from what we saw in its only battle, the lifting arm was fairly prone to being jammed. Knightmare and Inverterbrat obviously are not going to cause the same damage Gemini and Tornado did, but frankly if the lifter after just a few attacks, surely it will let down Kater Killer if it is flipped by Knightmare once or twice. Not to mention, I am not sure it can right itself if side-stranded. Between the two remaining opponents, Knightmare has the better ground clearance and can easily push Inverterbrat around for the Judges' decision victory. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 19:21, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  3. 1st: Knightmare Knightmare should be able to survive the longest and provide the best attacks. 2nd: Inverterbrat Main competition aside, it has the perfect lifters and I was close to choosing it as first but it has the downside of a high ground clearance. 3rd: Kater Killer Painfully slow and easily pushed about, something Knightmare can do easily, it also can't self right as we saw in the competition (despite the claims) plus it looks easy to damage so...yeah.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 19:25, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Inverterbrat 3rd as its ground clearance is just too big against two respectable flippers/pushers. Kater Killer 2nd as I can't see if flipping Knightmare with its narrow flipper, or getting side on to get an onto its side toppling. Knightmare 1st as I can at least see it getting underneath and pushing Kater Killer even if nothing really comes of it. Hogwild94 (talk) 19:28, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Knightmare 1st, Inverterbrat second and Kater Killer third. This is a battle the tracked robot simply can't win. Knightmare could probably get underneath and shove it onto its side, where it stands no hope of getting back up - plus I think getting knocked over will kill it anyway. As for Inverterbrat, supposedly the two robots had a really close fight in their qualifier and whatever they did was enough to get both of them through, so I expect to see similar. But given how easily Knightmare was able to boss Spawn of Scutter when it could get around the sides, I expect it to do the same to the seemingly higher Inverterbrat. It doesn't help Inverterbrat that it has a far, far narrower front attack range. CrashBash (talk) 19:29, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  6. 1st: Knightmare, 2nd: Kater Killer, 3rd: Inverterbrat - Inverterbrat I see Inverterbrat being flipped repeatedly until it's left on a side wall, and soon after, I see Kater Killer being flipped on to it's side. Adster1005 19:38, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  7. 1st: Knightmare, 2nd: Inverterbrat, 3rd: Kater Killer - Kater Killer does seem pretty vulnerable to being side-stranded, which Knightmare seems pretty well equipped to do. I don't think Knightmare or Inverterbrat can finish off the other without a malfunction, but Knightmare's wedge and Inverterbrat's high ground clearance, plus the credit for immobilising Kater Killer, should give Knightmare the edge. Combatwombat555 (talk) 20:25, April 8, 2020 (UTC)
  8. 1st. Knightmare, 2nd. Kater Killer, 3rd. Inverterbrat. Knightmare will be ineffective at flipping anything, but has good potential for decent drives and slight raises of a robot into danger areas. I can see Invertbrat struggling for space in a fight which was will so gritty and in close. Kater Killer will also get some points from drives of decent length. NJGW (talk) 08:21, April 9, 2020 (UTC)
  9. 1st. Kater Killer, 2nd. Knightmare, 3rd. Inverterbrat. Provided it doesn't break down (fair enough when you're being mucked about by Gemini and Tornado), then I think Kater Killer has the best arsenal here. Reasonable drive system, a functional lifting arm, it's overall a much more practical machine than the others. Both Knightmare and Inverterbrat are very fortunate to have Heat Finals to their name, and Kater Killer probably deserved one more. TOAST 10:33, April 9, 2020 (UTC)
1st: Knightmare, 2nd: Inverterbrat, 3rd: Kater Killer

Inverterbrat vs The Creature

Votes for Inverterbrat
  1. This seems like a pretty simple win for Inverterbrat, just as long as the flippers don't glitch out again, Inverterbrat should have enough to keep pushing at The Creature and annoying it without retribution. Jimlaad43(talk) 07:49, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
  2. If we take out the factor that Inverterbrat did indeed immobilise itself attacking The Creature, I say this is a Inverterbrat victory. The pincers/lifters as well as the bludgeoner will chip away and score points. Don't see a KO though.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 08:37, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
  3. It would be like backing 101 against Panic Attack or Nasty Warrior against Hypno-Disc because of unfortunate events. Since The Creature did not actually contribute toward's Inverterbrat's malfunction, I am not confident enough in backing it here. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 09:50, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
Thing is, Hypno-Disc was a fluke, whilst Panic Attack was goodness-knows-what. Inverterbrat comes across as a legit design flaw - if it accelerates too hard whilst trying to use its lifter, it'll just push it under the body. CrashBash (talk) 12:01, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
  4. I feel the bludgeoner and the lifters will cause little damage but over the time, this will eventually add up and give Inverterbrat a Judges' Decision. Adster1005 10:06, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
  5. I know that CB makes a good point about the whole lifter part being flawed, but Invertabrat can just... y'know, use its bludgeoner to shred apart The Creature with little issue. Besides, Creature is just soooooo slow that it might as well be as much of a static target as Twn Trwn. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 16:48, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for The Creature
  1. Just remember, it was an attack from Inverterbrat on The Creature that caused the former's flipper to malfunction. As far as I'm aware, Berserk 2 had no say in it. So I just can't trust that not to happen again. The Creature pretty much wins by technicality. CrashBash (talk) 07:53, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Agree with Crash on this. NJGW (talk) 13:05, April 10, 2020 (UTC)

Votes for Kater Killer
  1. This is a tough one, as both were meh robots with flippers, so I can see it being a few minutes of failed attacks to start with. However, once Kater Killer gets a chance and manages to overturn Judge Shred 2, it's over as the judge can't right itself. Jimlaad43(talk) 07:49, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Judge Shred 2
  1. Judge Shred is far better suited for flipping Kater Killer over than vise-versa, and Kater Killer's dead the moment it gets flipped. Judge Shred takes a fairly comfortable win I'd say. CrashBash (talk) 07:54, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Kater Killer was slow, its weapon looks as it it would take a minute just lift upwards. Judge Shred has a decent flipper, not a great one, but it also has an axe. Either it will be two robots pushing against each other, by which Kater Killer will lose because Judge Shred is faster, aggressive and has better weapons OR Judge Shred gets lucky and gets a flip to topple Kater Killer. Regardless, there's no reality where Kater Killer wins unless it was a fluke immobilisation or pitting.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 08:40, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
  3. In contrast to some supporters of Kater Killer in the previous battle, I am not really seeing the hype. Sure, it was unlucky to face Gemini and Tornado... but Major Tom faced Tsunami and X-Terminator, and hardly anyone would say it was a competent robot had it faced easier opponents, henceforth why this means little to me. Additionally, Kater Killer had decent pace, but its lifter was just too damn slow. Just seeing it try to lift one of the agile Gemini twins was just tragic. I am not the biggest supporter of Judge Shred 2 because of its somewhat vulnerable flipper, but it seems competent enough to achieve the flip of doom on its opponent at some point. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 09:50, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
  4. I have enough confidence in Judge Shred's flipper to eventually get Kater Killer side-stranded, and will also get a few damage points with the axe. Judge Shred through a KO or a JD here. Adster1005 10:01, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Kater Killer not bad, but Judge Shred 2 just a little more proven. TOAST 14:04, April 10, 2020 (UTC)
