Heat the Second of Random Format Series 4 takes us into the realms of Tag Teams. 8 pairs of robots will enter the arena in head-to-head fights with each other, knocking the blocks off their opponents and hoping their team mate is able to cover any weaknesses they may have. One team will eventually win, with both proceeding to the Series Semi-Finals.

Round 1

Suicidal Tendencies 2 & Eric vs Reactor & Ghetto-bot

Votes for Suicidal Tendencies 2 & Eric
  1. This will be a pretty simple victory for ST2 and Eric. ST can peck away at Reactor with the axe, and lift it around the arena as it pleases. Eric should be able to defeat Reactor too. Ghetto-bot is screwed no matter which opponent it's against, so a clear victory methinks. Jimlaad43(talk) 13:49, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Ghetto-Bot didn't have any real power and Reactor may have a decent flipper it will be easily bulldozed and bullied, very easy win here.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 13:51, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  3. This is a pretty easy decision, partly helped by Ghetto-Bot's lack of weight and limited reliability when all is said and done. Reactor will probably last to the judges, but that's about it. CrashBash (talk) 14:37, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  4. ST2 can axe away at Ghetto-bot and push it around, and Eric can get under Reactor, as can Suicidal Tendencies can axe away at both for an easy Judges' Decision. Adster1005 14:42, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  5. It's much more fun to do Tag Team events where you can't control who teams with who, which makes this heat and Tag Team Series 5 so fun. Some strong teams in this, with ST and Eric being one of them! Gotta feel bad for Reactor though, a respectable machine dragged down by Ghetto-bot. TOAST 15:44, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Eric and Suicidal Tendencies are two very decent machines. And their reputation could've been helped even further. These two were super close to both being Semi-Finalists in Series 4. They also progress here, comfortably. NJGW (talk) 16:18, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Two quick robots with good weapons against two slow robots with little to no weapons, easy victory. Hogwild94 (talk) 18:11, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  8. This is basically ST2 & Eric VS Reactor & a god-damned paperweight. A one-flip-and-done will subdue Ghetto-Bot and Eric and ST2 are far better equipped to take on Reactor by lifting it about and not giving it a chance to attack back. Simple enough, really. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 20:10, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  9. Pretend that Reactor is competing under its melee performance, as it was geared down against Wild Thing. Not that it matters, because even though it is likely to survive to the end, Ghetto-Bot will not. Suicidal Tendencies 2 and Eric seem like a great team to me. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 09:49, April 16, 2020 (UTC)
  10. Reactor could put up a reasonable fight, and I agree it's likely to go the distance, but it's hamstrung by its partner here. Combatwombat555 (talk) 22:11, April 16, 2020 (UTC)

Votes for MouseTrap & Banshee Votes for Tornado & Rambot
  1. Tornado will get Banshee shoved into the pit with ease, and shouldn't struggle too much against MouseTrap. The cheesy wedge is just too slow and ponderous to think about causing Tornado issues. Rambot probably doesn't need to bother in this fight, although it could tip Banshee over if required. Jimlaad43(talk) 13:49, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  2. MouseTrap pulled a VERY short straw with Banshee as its partner, poor MouseTrap will be shunted and most likely break down, Rambot may not even need to come out.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 13:52, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  3. A tag team is often only as good as its weakest member, and considering Rambot was still able to give Behemoth a run for its money, Banshee is easily the weakest here. Heck, even Tornado outclasses Mousetrap. CrashBash (talk) 14:38, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Tornado can ram both around the arena with ease, until the pit eventually opens and both MouseTrap and Banshee are dumped in the pit. Adster1005 14:43, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Tornado was an excellent robot for Series 4 standards, with its only main weakness being reliability. Rambot, meanwhile, has no real cause for doubt with reliability and was a respectable fighter in its own right. This is a killer team, and I can see Rambot earning a surprise semi-final. TOAST 15:46, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Proper good team here. Sad for Mousetrap but it is what it is. NJGW (talk) 16:19, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Tornado easily blows MouseTrap away, Banshee comes out, so does Rambot, who charges underneath far enough to get it onto that flipper thing and lever it over. Hogwild94 (talk) 18:12, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  8. Tornado will easily take down Mousetrap and Banshee by pummelling them until they both break down, after which it can shunt them both into the pit and win with ease... oh, wait, Rambot exists? --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 20:12, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  9. I think Rambot is actually more equipped to take out Banshee than Tornado, with the help of its lifter. That said, Tornado will easily outclass MouseTrap, ultimately pitting its foe. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 09:49, April 16, 2020 (UTC)
  10. No real contest here, Banshee won't really do anything to either opponent and MouseTrap can't beat Tornado, let alone with a partner. Combatwombat555 (talk) 22:11, April 16, 2020 (UTC)
Winner: Tornado & Rambot (0-10)

Votes for Diotoir & Oblivion 2
  1. Honestly Oblivion 2 is a much better teammate than Plunderbird 4. It's not getting its aerial cut off by Saw Point again, and Plunderbird 4 in the real Tag Team Terror was as much use as a chocolate teapot. I think we'd all (or mostly) go for Diotoir to back Killertron too, on ground clearance and a more useful weapon. If we scrap the idea that Oblivion makes this team auto-lose, I think Team Diotoir has the upper hand. It's overcome stronger teams on its own, after all! Yes that's a dig at Pussycat being useless in the Tag Team Terror + Mega Morg being Mega Morg. TOAST 15:53, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
But it didn't lose from getting its aerial cut off. It lost because Saw Point drove over it and bent the frame enough to ground it. CrashBash (talk) 15:59, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  2. To be honest, I think I can see Diotoir lifting and toppling both opponents quite easily. Not really much else to say! SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 09:49, April 16, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Honestly agree. Even if Oblivion 2 does get killed easily, it's not out first- I back Diotoir to topple Killertron before Oblivion even enters the fight, and I think Diotoir's got the beating of Plunderbird 4 too. Oblivion being immobilised won't really matter. Combatwombat555 (talk) 22:11, April 16, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Killertron & Plunderbird 4
  1. Screw it, let's have Vic Reeves' Diotoir for a laugh. After all, that's the only version that actually won a battle in Series 4 anyway. Regardless, it doesn't really matter because Diotoir has such a useless team mate in this fight against a competent robot and a Plunderbird. Killertron will likely be stronger than Diotoir anyway, so Oblivion's simple demise will further cremate Diotoir's hopes. Jimlaad43(talk) 13:49, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  2. I kinda like the idea Diotoir would enter with that frying pan :P Killertron is the strongest here, with an axe to deliver blows that can cause damage and may even kill off Oblivion. Plunderbird 4 is a really good robot if you rewatch its battles. It's wedge and claw will deliver some convincing attacks.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 13:54, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  3. It's actually kinda worrying on how little it took for Oblivion to just get crippled to the point where it couldn't move. Even if Diotoir flips Plunderbird over in a way Killertron can't right it, I feel Killertron is more likely to win the ensuing battle on aggression. CrashBash (talk) 14:40, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Killertron can axe away at Diotoir, although I both returning and letting Oblivion 2 and Plunderbird out, of which Plunderbird will win by pushing Oblivion around the arena, and eventually into the pit. Killertron will then axe Diotoir, and let Plunderbird push it into the pit. Adster1005 14:46, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  5. Going for this team. Primarily because of Killertron, actually. Yes, its axe is rightly laughed at in Extreme, but in the Series 4 80kg limit, it's still a fine weapon - piercing Suicidal Tendencies' top armour (which even Dominator 2 didn't always do), and Maverick (if that matters). I think it can cause issues with it in this fight. NJGW (talk) 16:24, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Whichever Diotoir we have, I somehow don't trust its flipper or wedge to be able to overturn Killertron, and Plunderbird would easily beat it too, same with Oblivion. Hogwild94 (talk) 18:14, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
Winner: Killertron & Plunderbird 4 (3-6)

Votes for Disc-O-Inferno & Atomic Votes for X-Terminator 2 & The Morgue
  1. X-Terminator was a brick in Series 4, meaning it can take knocks and deal them out. A good whack into both Disc-O and Atomic and it's not unlikely that something inside will break, forcing them to conk out. The Morgue will be a useful addition to the team, but once X-Terminator has flipped them both up and killed the opponents, The Morgue may as well not bother. Jimlaad43(talk) 13:49, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Considering that Disc-O was as reliable as a dead parrot looking after your car keys and wallet, it is no surprise to see them lose very early on. X-terminator is weakly armoured as we saw in the Semi Finals but I don't see either Atomic or Disc-O doing anything to it and The Morgue has the spikes to ram in and cause damage. Also I love the fact that X-Terminator is with The Morgue like in Extreme 2...what a coincidence! Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 13:57, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  3. The two eventual tag-team mates team up early and battle two of the most unreliable robots of the series. It's a match made in heaven, really. CrashBash (talk) 14:41, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  4. All four of these would go on to be great machines in some capacity in later wars, but X-Terminator can axe away, and The Morgue can push, especially as Disc-O-Inferno wasn't the most reliable in Series 4. X-Terminator 2 and Morgue to axe and push Disc-O and Atomic to take a win. Adster1005 15:10, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  5. A genuine real-life tag team partnership in the only tag team heat of the series! Who would've thought it? Sadly Disc-O-Inferno was a death wish for anyone who teamed up with it, and my boy Atomic is the one who suffers as a result. TOAST 15:55, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Heh, it's funny that for me this partnership is more interesting here than it is in the future for EX2 itself. NJGW (talk) 16:25, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Disc-O-Inferno twice broke down of its own accord in S4, and Atomic fared little better, two solid opponents can easily outlast them both. Hogwild94 (talk) 18:17, April 15, 2020 (UTC)
  8. X-Terminator 2 to take out both opponents by delivering a slam to each one. X-Terminator 2 could be a dark horse here, certainly a challenge to Tornado... SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 09:49, April 16, 2020 (UTC)
  9. Disc-O-Inferno in this guise was not reliable at all, and a good slam from X-Terminator should kill it. Given how thin Atomic's frame was, I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of side-on charges crumpled that and killed Atomic too. Combatwombat555 (talk) 22:11, April 16, 2020 (UTC)
Winner: X-Terminator 2 & The Morgue (0-9)

Votes for The Morgue & X-Terminator 2
  1. I think one on one, Suicidal Tendencies would be the strongest here, but in a Tag Team setting it could get caught out. Don't rule out The Morgue here. Those front prongs are sharp, and The Morgue isn't slow. I can definitely see Suicidal Tendencies' sides getting pierced and things going downhill for that team from there. NJGW (talk) 12:04, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  2. Really tough match here, the factor that’s bothering me is that Suicidal Tendencies’ tracks were vulnerable to being disabled and considering how decent the spikes of The Morgue were I can see that happening. As for Eric, well it can easily be ganged up and pressured heavily.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:14, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Suicidal Tendencies, like NJGW says, is probably the best machine here if not for its fatal flaw. Sadly though, Suicidal Tendencies became immobile in three of its six fights in Series 4, and always in the same manner. The only fight where it did survive the full five minutes was the second round of the Northern Annihilator, where it was still largely just attached to Spikasaurus. Once the track goes, I don’t think Eric can hold off X-Terminator, and The Morgue need only survive to make it a 2-on-1. The judges have of course never opted for one robot over the full tag team of two, and I don’t see that changing here. TOAST 15:29, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Maybe I'm overrating X-Terminator a bit here, but, once The Morgue inevitably tags it in after being bossed by ST, it will easily shunt both robots around and rack up sufficient aggression points towards both to win the fight pretty much alone. Were it using its lifter, it'd be even easier. Hogwild94 (talk) 17:45, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
Interchangeable weapons rule means that if you think the lifter is the better weapon for the fight, then judge your vote with the lifter, not the axe. Don't go with whar's in the picture. Jimlaad43(talk) 18:02, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Suicidal Tendencies 2 & Eric
  1. Suicidal Tendencies can overturn The Morgue, and if its clever, can use the axe to stop it continuing the roll and going back on its wheels. X-Terminator 2 will be able to bulldoze and beat Eric with ease, so it's a case of who wins between XT2 and ST2. Suicidal Tendencies will probably come out on top if it can get its flipping spikes underneath and wedged in the underside of XT2. If it can, the axe can smack away and ST2 can push XT2 everywhere and probably into the pit after a big tussle. Jimlaad43(talk) 11:17, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  2. This is a tricky match to decide, and I see Suicidal Tendencies 2 tagging out straight away, because I think Eric will be able to get under the side of The Morgue and lift it up, and because it isn't being flung over, Eric would just need a slow drive forward or head towards an arena wall to get it over, and it won't be able to self-right. X-Terminator 2 has the scoop and axe to push Eric around all over the place, and eventually into the pit. Between X-T2 and ST2, I think, due to the forks X-T2 can get XT2 will be pushed around the arena, and eventually into the pit. Giving ST2 and Eric the win. Adster1005 12:33, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  3. I'm not entirely seeing the logic on this side. Yes, OK, it seems logical that both Suicidal Tendencies and Eric would be able to negate The Morgue's rollover design. But if Morgue is stuck upside down, wouldn't X-Terminator....oh, I dunno....come out and knock it back on its wheels? Just leaving it there seems highly counterproductive (besides, Firestorm did that all the time with Scorpion). That being said, a close fight like this will easily go to the judges, but I do feel that Suicidal Tendencies and Eric have a slight...very slight...advantage. Being able to control their opponents more easily than vise-versa, especially given X-Terminator's lack of baseplate, seems like it'd be something that would play into their favour. Votes for Killertron & Plunderbird 4
  1. I wouldn't actually put it past Killertron to cause some big damage to the top of Tornado. A good axe blow on the top or on a tyre could hobble Tornado and reduce its effectiveness. If Rambot is force to come out, it can use its wedge well to get under and shove Killertron back, but its just the right size to be grabbed by Plunderbird 4 and held in place. If Tornado is slowing, Rambot might find the two damaging opponents might be too much for it, especially if Killertron starts whacking the top of it. Jimlaad43(talk) 11:17, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
Votes for Tornado & Rambot
  1. There's a lot of factors in play here, but to narrow the three bigs ones - Killertron is so big that it makes sense that Tornado would be able to get around the side and push it where-ever, Rambot is so low and so fast I don't see any of its opponents even catching it, and Plunderbird is easily the least reliable. CrashBash (talk) 11:20, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  2. After a quick think between the two, I think Tornado and Rambot will just edge it. Tornado and Killertron start, Tornado can push Killertron all around the arena and will feed it to the House Robots. After a switch, Tornado can get around the back of Plunderbird and keep pushing that everywhere, and after another switch, Rambot might be able to lift up Plunderbird. Whilst Killertron might be able to do damage to both, I think the combined efforts of Tornado and Rambot, against Killertron and not much from Plunderbird 4 will give a win to Tornado and Rambot. Adster1005 11:26, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  3. Killertron's axe is still genuinely good by the time of Series 4, and it can definitely cause problems for an 80kg, less reliable Tornado. However, it could also be purely bullied around by the nimble Tornado, and with Rambot to strike down low too, it'll be too much of an ask, especially with Plunderbird 4 as the teammate here. NJGW (talk) 12:06, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  4. Aww damnit, I really wanted the Killertron team to somehow make it to the final...Alas, both machines will be outmatched by Tornado and even Rambot will be able to get in and lift away.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:09, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  5. And Killertron’s on the run, it’s piggyback time! They’re in and underneath Killertron! It’s only a question of time, they know it! Are they gonna flip him? Noooo it’s all over, Rambot the winnersssss TOAST 15:33, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  6. Another "Tornado curbstomps everything while Rambot watches on the sidelines" victory. At least Killertron will put up a better fight, but both it and Plunderbird 4 are hopelessly outclassed. --TheyCallMeDoot (*doot doot*) 17:41, April 17, 2020 (UTC)
  7. Tornado outpushes Killertron, who quickly tags Plunderbird in, but Tornado then rags Rambot in and Plunderbird gets outwedged and tipped by the flipper. With Killertron now on its own against a low wedge that can easily get underneath and a pusher that has already outdone it, it's an obvious judges decision.
