I didn't really know where to put this, but the sad news is breaking that it's looking like Robot Wars has been cancelled: https://mobile.twitter.com/TeamCarbide/status/974606556959531008 (CW555) 109.207.29.2 11:52, March 16, 2018 (UTC)

Sad news definitely, but I'm not that surprised to be honest. Series 10 was a great way to finish though, as it was clearly the best series yet. Hopefully a channel like Dave can pick it up with Mentorn in the future. Jimlaad43(talk) 12:26, March 16, 2018 (UTC)
And there I was saying that it was still gonna happen :( Well at least merchandise is meant to be released later this year and the arena is technically is around till 2020...so who know? Also it's nice that Team Nemesis appeared in the first and last Series/episode(s) of Robot Wars.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 12:37, March 16, 2018 (UTC)
Lets be honest here, the chance of any merchandise being released now is slim to non-existent. CrashBash (talk) 17:01, March 16, 2018 (UTC)
A real shame, has to be said, but it was still fun while it lasted. Lets just hope that BattleBots and King of Bots will last a little longer. CrashBash (talk) 15:04, March 16, 2018 (UTC)

Don't know if anyone's picked up on this but there has been a statement from Mentorn: "We're immensely proud of the three series we have produced for BBC Two. Robot Wars has an incredibly loyal and passionate fan base, and we're already exploring a number of ideas to find a new home for this fantastic show." So even if the BBC has given up on it, the production company hasn't, which is positive. Combatwombat555 (talk) 17:12, March 16, 2018 (UTC)

People on the subreddit and URW groups have been hypothesising new networks for Robot Wars to go on in the wake of this news. Dave was bandied about a fair bit, which makes sense given that they started repeating Robot Wars way back in 2010/2011 (I forget when) which was before pretty much any other networks jumped the bandwagon to my knowledge. Dave also took on Red Dwarf after that was axed by the BBC as well. Obviously it's too early to tell if another network is going to rise to the challenge, but if not, Battlebots, KOB and Clash Bots are or soon will be filming, so there's still plenty of robo-carnage to look forward to. It's a shame, but at least we got three excellent new series out of it. Lets face it, this time two and a bit years ago, if we'd been offered three brand new series of Robot Wars, we'd all have said yes instantly. There's still plenty of room for the show to come back, if not on the BBC, then certainly on the commercial channels; I've already advocated Dave or Challenge picking the show up on Twitter, and Channel 5 has form. Hogwild94 (talk) 19:58, March 16, 2018 (UTC)

That was might first thought - Dave or Challenge, as Dave used to air Robot Wars and Challenge are currently airing Extreme 1. I'm not sure about Channel 5 though. But what would that mean for the programme? A channel with advert breaks in, how would you keep the same amount of battles in as Series 10. I would say I want Dave to get it, but my family lost it the other weekend because of Virgin Media. Adster1005 (talk) 08:58, August 3, 2018 (UTC)

While I've been happy with refraining myself from looking at the Wiki and Robot Wars Reddit over the past 16 days, (and will continue to do so for now, sorry lads) I couldn't avoid Facebook general posts, and couldn't not contribute to the discussion I knew would be on here. I'm deeply saddened to see that the BBC has made this decision, but I'd be lying if I said it's a big surprise. The last 2 years of Robot Wars have been a joy to watch, with plenty of good things easily outweighing the bad. I do hope we see another channel take up the mantle, but I'm not holding my breath. Obviously, we should not let this discourage us all from contributing to the Wiki in the future, and we should remember the last three series with fondness rather than potentially wallowing in grief at the cancellation. Frankly, the last three series have been a bonus, and the 2016 announcement revitalised my passion for a programme I had not followed for at least 4 years. Thanks Mentorn, thanks to Dara and Angela, thanks to Jonathan Pearce the God of Robot Wars, and thanks to all of the wonderful teams and robots that fought on our screens over the last two years.
