Gladius is a design concept for a heavyweight robot which applied to compete in Series 9 of Robot Wars, but was not selected to participate. It had a working name of Shank, and was named after the Gladius; a type of one-handed short sword wielded by Ancient Roman soldiers.

Design[]

Gladius is two-wheel driven, and due to its extremely low profile, is invertible. Its weapon is a reciprocating spike, likely powered by a pneumatic system. The side and rear of the robot is coated with two skirts, so that it has a low ground clearance, even when flipped over. Its shape resembles Expulsion.
