Griffon was a robot that failed to qualify for Series 4 of Robot Wars despite winning its qualifier.
Design[]
Griffon was a red, box shaped robot armed small lifting forks. It design was similar to the Series 2 version of Panic Attack, with the small lifting forks being somewhat ineffective at lifting anything, although the team claimed that the forks could rapidly lift four times a second.[1]
Etymology[]
The name Griffon refers to a mythological creature with the body of a lion and head and wings of an eagle. The name had previously been used by an unrelated Griffon from the prior two series.
Qualification[]
In its qualifier, at Robot Mayhem 2000, Griffon faced A-Kill. In the battle Griffon dominated by ramming A-Kill across the arena using its lifter. Eventually Shunt came in and pitted A-Kill before falling into the pit itself. Despite this victory, Griffon failed to qualify for the main series as did its opponent A-Kill.

Trivia[]
- Not only does Griffon share a name with a Series 2-3 competitor, it also shares the same category of weapon - however it differs in colour scheme, and builder of the Series 2-3 robot Oliver Steeples conclusively confirmed he nor his robot Griffon attempted to enter Series 4.
