For the unrelated Series 2-3 UK Competitor by Oliver Steeples, see Griffon.

Griffon was a robot that failed to qualify for Series 4 of Robot Wars despite winning its qualifier.

Design[edit | edit source]

Griffon was a red box shaped robot armed small lifting forks. It design was similar to the Series 2 version of Panic Attack, with the small lifting forks being somewhat ineffective at lifting anything, although the team claimed that the forks could rapidly lift four times a second.[1]

Etymology[edit | edit source]

The name Griffon refers to a mythological creature with the body of a lion and head and wings of an eagle. The name had previously been used by an unrelated Griffon from the prior two series.

Qualification[edit | edit source]

In its qualifier, at Robot Mayhem 2000, Griffon faced A-Kill. In the battle Griffon dominated by ramming A-Kill across the arena using its lifter. Eventually Shunt came in and pitted A-Kill before falling into the pit itself. Despite this victory, Griffon failed to qualify for the main series as did its opponent A-Kill.
