Holger Böschen is a German voiceover artist who served as commentator for the German dub of Series 9 and 10 of Robot Wars on ProSieben MAXX, as well as both World Series episodes.
Robot Wars[]
In 2017, Böschen confirmed his involvement via Twitter, taking over from former basketball player and sports commentator Frank Buschmann.[1][2] His commentary work replaced that of Jonathan Pearce, in order to suit a German-speaking audience.
Outside Robot Wars[]
Away from the show, Böschen serves as a commentator and co-announcer for WWE Deutschland, Germany's branch of World Wrestling Entertainment. Böschen regularly conducts interviews with WWE superstars for their social media platforms, such as John Cena and Goldberg, typically speaking in German to camera and then interviewing the wrestlers in English.[3]
He works closely with 2K Games, presenting an online show called Hell Yeah! Die WWE 2K Show, based around the annual WWE games released by the publisher.
Prior to working for ProSieben MAXX, Böschen worked for Sky Deutschland for 11 years, becoming an online sport producer in his last five years. Böschen also lent his voice to ProSieben MAXX's German dub of US gameshow WipeOut, as well as the short-lived Robot Combat League.[4]
Trivia[]
- Böschen is not the only overlapping personnel between Robot Wars and professional wrestling, as Mick Foley hosted Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors on TNN and Joanie Laurer served as presenter for the US dub of Series 4, titled Grand Champions.
