Kruel Intent was a heavyweight robot that failed to qualify for Series 6 of Robot Wars. It is currently unknown whether the team intended to apply for Series 7, or the second series of Robot Wars: Extreme.
Design[]
Kruel Intent was a wedge-shaped robot with angled sides designed and built by four work colleagues, who called themselves Team K. Their machine was described by Team Geeza as a hybrid of Hypno-Disc and Cassius at a live event between filming for series of Robot Wars.[1]
The robot was powered by two Bosch motors driving a pair of sturdy go-kart wheels. Its rear-mounted spinning disc was made from steel, weighing 19kg and measuring 430mm in diameter, according to Team K[2]. Kruel Intent also featured a front-hinged pneumatic ram which would double up as a self-righting mechanism, inspiration also taken from Rex Garrod's machine.
- "The spinning disk kinetic weapon has been proven to be the most destructive force in RW history and we want a piece of that action!! We had to incorporate a srimech into the robot and, I have seen all 4 wars, and I have not seen a better one than Cassius'. We'll 'ave some of that as well!!"
- — The team explain the reasoning behind their choice of weaponry
Etymology[]
Cruel or malicious intent is a common way to describe a purposeful attempt to cause harm through means of action, something which suits the idea of a fighting robot well. The deliberate misspelling of the word "cruel" comes from the fact that the team all worked for a company where the trademark was the letter "K".[3]
Qualification[]
Kruel Intent attended Series 6 qualifiers, however it is unknown who they fought.[4]
- "All that remains is for me to say we will be attempting to qualify on Friday the 5th of July....WISH US LUCK!!!"
- — Team K outline their intentions to attend Series 6 qualifiers on their most recent build diary

Outside Robot Wars[]
On the weekend of 18th and 19th August 2001, Kruel Intent attended a Gloucester based event hosted by Alan Gribble.[5] Due to the unfinished state of the robot at the time, it did not compete.
- "Looking forward to the rumble next week..... Needless to say, we wont be fighting!"
- — The team show off their newly-welded frame prior to the Gloucester event
