Ladybug (also referred to as Coccinellidae) was a middleweight robot that competed in the 1995 US Robot Wars competition where it lost in the first round against the reigning middleweight champion The X-1.
Design[]
Ladybug was a relatively large middleweight, although the size was dedicated to the large ladybird façade which was a plastic dome like shell accompanied with large boggle eyes, two purple antennas and a large white hat. The base of the robot was a square metal frame with two large wheels at the back and two smaller wheels at the front.
Etymology[]
The name Ladybug and its alternative name Coccinellidae refers to the insect of the same name. The term "Ladybug" is the American term for the insect.

1995 Championship[]
The X-1 pushes a smoking Ladybug against the back wall of the arena
In the first round of the Middleweight Championship, Ladybug faced the reigning Middleweight champion The X-1. Ladybug had a slow start as The X-1 charged and slammed into it. Ladybug attempted to move but was continuedly pushed back against the arena wall, slowly, with no effective measure to push back whilst also being lifted by The X-1's lifter. Eventually, The X-1 successfully pressured Ladybug against the back wall of the arena where Ladybug began to smoke relentlessly as its motors burnt out. The X-1 lifted Ladybug slightly before backing away and leaving the smoking machine immobile.
