Mazzate was a heavyweight robot from Italy which attempted to compete in an unknown series of Robot Wars, but was overweight and had to withdraw.[1]
It is not certain what series Mazzate was built for, nor is it known whether Mazzate intended to represent Italy in any of the international specials. The website used to document the robot's build process, however, was made on June 15, 2000 and was last updated on February 16, 2002.[2]

Mazzate was a four-wheel drive, invertible robot armed with a horizontal spinning disc at the front, which was powered by two large motors. At the rear of Mazzate were four static spikes protruding from the robot's corners.
The robot was coloured to look like an Italian flag, with red, white and green prominent in its appearance. Mazzate also featured sharp teeth decoration across its sides, leading into its twin-toothed spinning weapon.

Builder Savio Thecnic originally build a 1:1 scale model of Mazzate from cardboard, before committing to his final design.

The word "mazzate" has several meanings in Italian, with all definitions revolving around the idea of being hit with a lot of power. This can constitute a hammer blow, beating somebody up, or to swing with a baseball bat.
Outside Robot Wars[]

Despite never appearing in Robot Wars, Mazzate made a live appearance on display alongside fellow Italian heavyweight robots Mastiff and Zeus. Here, it was seen driving around in front of a live audience and demonstrating their weaponry.
Mazzate was also displayed with the aforementioned robots at an Italian convention, as well as a non-Robot Wars competitor called Frollino. Although the date of this convention is unknown, advertisements are seen for the 2002 video game The Terminator: Dawn of Fate.
