Mr. Armageddon was a robot which attempted to enter Robot Wars: The Third Wars. Despite the team attending the audition and being hopeful of making the main competition, Mr. Armageddon was not selected to compete.
Design[]

Mr. Armageddon was an invertible, black, box-shaped robot with protruding angled sides. The robot also had four-wheel drive with skid steering. For a weapon, it was armed with an "inertial wheel" which the team said was quite powerful against static objects during testing in their office's car park.[1] The final design was highly reminiscent of future champion Tornado, but built a year before Tornado would make its debut.
Team[]
The team comprised Andy Montador and Alistair Downie, two work colleagues who were Electrical Engineers at Marconi Electronic Systems in Edinburgh.
Qualification[]
Mr. Armageddon attended the auditions for The Third Wars, despite the team only having started building the robot two weeks beforehand. The team also sent a video of Mr. Armageddon towing a car to demonstrate its power before the auditions.[1]
Although details are not known about the robot's performance, the team were told they had passed the audition. However, they were then informed by Mentorn towards the end of September 1999 that they had not been selected to appear.[2]
While waiting for confirmation about their series appearance, team member Andy Montador was approached by Peter Smith of Rolling Thunder 2 about forming a team to take part in the proposed Tag Team tournament.[3] However, the tournament was cancelled due to a behind the scenes incident, and neither robot subsequently made an appearance.
After Mr. Armageddon failed to qualify for the competition, the robot was scrapped by the team. The team did not return with any other builds for future Robot Wars competitions.[1]
