"The blistering heat produced by the huge furnace melts tons of steel a day - and is the final resting place of many hapless robots. Keep your cool, be wary of the deadly hazards, and you may end up as the deserving winner."
— In-game description

The New York Steelworks is an unlockable arena in the video game Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction. It is set in New York, USA and is unlocked after the player earns 10000 credits.

Appearance and HazardsEdit

The arena is square, but split up into three sections, the outer two of which are raised upper gantries with conveyor belts leading up to them- before the battle begins, four robots start off facing Sergeant Bash and Shunt CPZs on opposite sides of the Hopper, whilst the remaining two (If the fight has five or six competing robots) start off between the conveyor belts.

At the top of the upper gantry you start off facing is another conveyor belt, which leads back over to the opposite-facing one (thereby taking you back to the middle section), as well as a platform with a switch that when hit, reverses the direction of the conveyor belts. The one on the other side is symmetrically positioned, except without the middle conveyor belt. Instead, it has Sir Killalot and Dead Metal's CPZs, and an additional hazard- a vat full of Molten Steel with a short platform going halfway over it. Needless to say, forcing a robot into it will instantly destroy them.

"Disqualification- by melting!"
Jonathan Pearce

There are also other hazards on the lower gantry- the most obvious of which being a large Hopper, originally designed for sheets of steel to fall into. This acts like a Pit, instantly eliminating any robot that falls or is pushed into it. There are also Blast Furnaces mounted inside the walls, which occasionally vent huge bursts of flames at passing competitors, and the other two CPZs. These are guarded by Sergeant Bash and Shunt, and are placed on opposite sides of the Hopper.
