Overhead Weapons are designed to swing overhead and strike other robots with a flat, spiked or bladed point.
Powered by various electric and pneumatically-based mechanisms, they have been prominently used since the beginning of Robot Wars, often capable of inflicting substantial damage to opponents through their attacks. Robots armed with these weapons have been officially referred to as Axe Bots or Hammer Bots in the Revival Series.
Some overhead weapons are combined with lifting and flipping weapons. These offer robots equipped with these weapons (e.g. Mortis, Hydra) an additional weapons synergy, or a self-righting mechanism if the overhead weapon is not powerful enough to re-right the machine.
