"Took two months to build, the axe is powered by a wheelchair motor. Ready for thrills and suspense? Hitchcock's Psycho wasn't as frightening as this! Coming mother!"
Jonathan Pearce introduces Psychokiller

Psychokiller was a competitor robot that participated in Series 3 of Robot Wars. It lost to Dreadnaut in the first round, and did not compete in any other series beyond this appearance.

Psychokiller was a yellow wedge-shaped robot with red stripes and a red face-like design on the front, which was said to be inspired by Salvador Dali's paintings. Its weapon was a pickaxe powered by a wheelchair motor, with two furry hands fastened around the tip. The robot was driven by two Sinclair C5 motors, and overall took three months to build.

"Classic wedge shape, with the axe, so hopefully that will work very well; we know from the past it does."

The two robots immediately collided head-on, but did very little damage to each other. Psychokiller briefly circled the flame pit before driving into Sir Killalot, who snapped off its axe. Dreadnaut then pushed Psychokiller back onto the flame pit, where it was attacked and shoved away by Shunt. As Dreadnaut came in for another attack, Psychokiller drove towards Dead Metal's CPZ, where it was caught on an arena spike and immobilised.

At this point, Dreadnaut and the House Robots closed in on Psychokiller. Shunt embedded his axe in the top of Psychokiller, lifting it up slightly, as Sir Killalot used his lance to flip the robot over, Jonathan Pearce noting visible damage on all sides. The House Robots continued to damage Psychokiller before 'cease' was called.

Trivia[]

  • Jonathan Pearce claimed Psychokiller took two months to build, but the robot's statistics board said it took three months to build.
  • Psychokiller may have been named after the Talking Heads' song of the same name.
    • Coincidentally, a parody song of Psycho Killer was later released by The Fools, named Psycho Chicken. Much like Psycho Killer, the name Psycho Chicken was also given to a competitor robot.
