Retirebot was armed with an electric lifter and was powered by NiCad batteries.
Retirebot faced Brutus Maximus, Constrictor and Mean Streak in its qualifier battle. Constrictor lost is weapon before the match while Brutus Maximus used an illegal net to snag up Mean Streak's weaponry, which managed to immobilise it. The battle for Retirebot did not go well as it's electric lifter failed, causing its fuses to blow and immobilising it. By the end of the fight, Constrictor was the only robot mobile, however, the battle was won by Mean Streak due to Brutus Maximus' use of an illegal net. Constrictor, Brutus Maximus and Mean Streak all qualified with Retirebot being the only robot not to qualify for the series.
- "There wasn't much we could do without our flipper weapon, so we did our best to avoid the opponents weapons and rammed into everyone else to score points with the judges. Again, luck seemed to be on our side - Brutus Maximus the wooden robot threw a net over mean streak which messed up its drive and Retirebot made the mistake of using relays for their electric lifter which must have shorted out and caused a small explosion (probably their NiCad batteries) after a few more hits there wasn't much left of Brutus Maximus and we where the only team still mobile at the end of the fight. We drove constrictor smoothly back to the bullpen, the others had to be swept out the arena by a huge bot built by Derek Foxwell that looked a bit like shunt but 3 times bigger. Unfortunately Brutus Maximus used a banned weapon (the net) so Mean Streak won by default even though we were the only one still working at the end."
