"Welcome to Robot Wars: The Sixth Wars Heat 7. Will the winds of fortune blow fair for Tornado, the number twelve seeds? Never a zephyr, always a hurricane force. Newcomers like Edge Hog are promising great things and violence. The House Robots will test that theory. And in the mashing melees, we'll scrunch and munch metal. As the scales of justice tip this way and that. A new legends of born and old. Mighty Thor from Viking Valhalla, or our own hound of hell, Growler. Mad dogs and robot men are out in the arena fun and about to be undone. Let's drag you into our world. We'll gnash our teeth. You can let off steam. You can stamp your feet along the walkers and the talkers and argue your case in Robot Wars: The Sixth Wars!"
— Jonathan Pearce's introduction

Round 1[]

Tornado (12) vs Inshredable vs Edge Hog vs Terror-Bull[]

"...tonight, a robot's fighting, who wants that title more than anybody: Tornado! Yes, the most brutal box in battle-dom is back! Which means, metal's gonna fly guaranteed! All those months of preparation about to end in devastation! Let the wars beginning"
Craig Charles before Round 1
Terror-Bull vs Inshredable

Edge Hog is lifted by Terror-Bull

At the start, Tornado charged forwards, and Edge Hog drove at it, but Tornado drove out of the way, so Edge Hog missed with its axe. As Tornado drove at Inshredable, Edge Hog began driving after it, but Terror-Bull drove into its side, so it changed targets, turning around to attack Terror-Bull. It tried axing Terror-Bull, but turned too far, causing it to miss with its axe. Terror-Bull turned around to get its lifter under the front of Edge Hog, and tried lifting and pushing, but Edge Hog slipped off. Meanwhile, Tornado rammed Inshredable down the arena to Matilda's CPZ, then sped away to attack Terror-Bull, whilst Inshredable escaped the CPZ.

"Watch for Tornado's sheer dogged persistence here!"
— Jonathan Pearce as Tornado rams Inshredable
Tornado Edge Hog Inshredable

Tornado targets the rear of Edge Hog

Tornado charged into Terror-Bull's side, and Terror-Bull turned, whilst Inshredable drove after Tornado, driving past Edge Hog, who fired the axe but missed. Tornado turned around to get at Terror-Bull's side, dodging Inshredable's flywheel, and rammed Terror-Bull, but soon turned away as Edge Hog drove at Terror-Bull. Edge Hog charged into Terror-Bull, but was deflected on impact, causing it to miss with the axe. Tornado went after Inshredable again, ramming it across the flame pit. Inshredable managed to spin away to get off the front of Tornado, and as Edge Hog drove down the arena, Tornado left Inshredable to go after Edge Hog. Tornado rammed into Edge Hog, and Edge Hog narrowly missed with the axe, and Tornado drove past Edge Hog to ram Inshredable as it tried to get away, ramming it over the flame pit and into an angle grinder.

"...an attack by Edge Hog, got the axe blade down there, the pneumatic weaponry, and at the moment is at the centre of most things."
— Jonathan Pearce as Edge Hog drives at Tornado

Tornado drove away across the arena, and Inshredable drove after it, and Tornado charged at Edge Hog, ramming it to the arena wall. Edge Hog managed to turn as Tornado was pushing and get away. Tornado went after Terror-Bull, ramming it into Inshredable. Tornado pushed them both a little, before pushing Terror-Bull towards Dead Metal.

"Tornado pushing away though, against Inshredable, and now taking on Edge Hog, and will spin away very quickly, Tornado. The top speed is only 10 miles an hour, but is very manoeuvrable in the hands of Andrew Marchant..."
— Jonathan Pearce
Tornado Inshredable

Tornado drives Inshredable across the arena floor

Edge Hog charged at Inshredable, but narrowly missed with the axe. Tornado rammed into the back of Edge Hog, and Edge Hog turned around and fire the axe, but missed again. Tornado rammed into the side of Inshredable, hitting it with its drum, and after reversing for a charge, rammed Edge Hog and Inshredable into Matilda's CPZ, then drove away to ram Terror-Bull.

"Inshredable at the moment, is taking some punishment, and can't get out of that hole. Little bit of experience missing there, in the Inshredable team, they've got themselves into a nasty position..."
— Jonathan Pearce as Inshredable momentarily ends up in Matilda's CPZ
Inshredable nearly pitted

Inshredable escapes the descending pit

Inshredable escaped the CPZ undamaged, but Edge Hog mistakenly turned around and reversed into Matilda as it was escaping the CPZ, and Matilda hit it with her flywheel, knocking the back panel loose. Edge Hog reversed away from danger, quickly reversing into the pit release button, where the other three competitors where fighting. The other three competitors moved away, but Edge Hog stopped moving. As Inshredable drove away, it drove onto the pit, which began to open, and Inshredable narrowly managed to turn and drive away before it got stuck in the pit. It drove at Tornado, which rammed it down the arena. Tornado drove around Inshredable, ramming it towards Terror-Bull, which drove into Inshredable. Refbot drove into Refbot, forcing it to leave Inshredable, then went over to the pit release button, where Edge Hog was still not moving, merely firing the axe, and gave it a push.

"What's happened there to Edge Hog? It's ... it's not impaled, but it's sort of grappled onto the arena side wall, it's caught there, it's snagged!"
— Jonathan Pearce as Refbot pushes Edge Hog free of the side wall
EdgeHogCountedOut

Edge Hog is counted out

Tornado and Terror-Bull charged into Inshredable, and Terror-Bull got its lifter under Inshredable, lifting it and pushing it towards Matilda, but Inshredable managed to get off the lifter, and Terror-Bull drove into Matilda, its lifting head hitting the flywheel. Terror-Bull and Inshredable got away from Matilda, driving up the arena, with Inshredable chasing after Terror-Bull, but Tornado charged at the side of Inshredable, hitting it with the drum, and as Inshredable turned around, Tornado rammed it across the arena, over the flame pit and slammed it into the arena wall. Inshredable moved away from the wall, but drove onto the flame pit, and was slow got off it.

"Inshredable, over the flame pit. A little bit of a roasting, steaming but nothing more!"
— Jonathan Pearce as Inshredable is pushed over, then drives onto, the flame pit
Matilda Inshredable

Matilda smashes into Inshredable

Tornado rammed Terror-Bull. Inshredable drove up the arena, and Tornado changed targets, getting at the side of the flywheel and pushing. Terror-Bull drove over, and helped Tornado push Inshredable into the CPZ, with Terror-Bull lifting Inshredable up. Meanwhile, Refbot began counting Edge Hog out. Terror-Bull got its lifter under the front of Inshredable and lifted it up, preventing it from escaping as Dead Metal came over. Dead Metal pushed Inshredable against the wall, and Matilda reversed over, hitting the side with her flywheel, ripping off a side panel, whilst Terror-Bull reversed away from the CPZ. Refbot finished counting out Edge Hog, and Dead Metal got Inshredable in its claws, pinned it in the corner and cut into it with his saw.

"Inshredable, I think your hopes are in tatters because Dead Metal is in there with that venomous blade, and it looked to me as if Inshredable were having problems there, in control."
— Jonathan Pearce as Inshredable sustains damage from Matilda and Dead Metal
Terror Bull pitted

Tornado pits Terror-Bull

Refbot drove over to the top CPZ, driving between Dead Metal and Inshredable, stopping the House Robot's attacks. Inshredable limped out of the CPZ, and Tornado drove around Terror-Bull and rammed it into the pit.

"...looks to me as if Tornado, AND TERROR-BULL WILL BE THE TWO TO GO THROUGH, BUT TERROR-BULL SUDDENLY PITTED! what a turn up that is because I thought Inshredable were out but they're just moving at the end and Terror-Bull have been pitted and beaten!"
— Jonathan Pearce as Tornado pits Terror-Bull, giving Inshredable a lucky break to continue its campaign

Team Tornado would later reveal on their website that they had though that Inshredable was immobilised, and that they had not intended to eliminate Terror-Bull.

"Dead Metal got stuck in, immobilising Inshredable, or at least so we though[t]. So to end the fight we pushed Terrorbull into the pit - and then Inshredible [sic] drove out from Dead Metal's corner! Sorry Terrorbull guys, we should have left you alone, you would have gone through then..."
— Team Tornado on inadvertently knocking out Terror-Bull.[1]

Qualified: Tornado & Inshredable

Thor vs Revolution 2 vs Judge Shred 2½ vs Anarchy[]

"So Tornado and Inshredable safely through. Some surprise though that Terror-Bull were the ones to fall along with the disappointing Edge Hog."
— Jonathan Pearce
Revolution2bladecaughtinJudgeShred

Revolution 2's spinning blades became caught in the side of Judge Shred 2½

Judge Shred 2½ started by driving at Revolution 2, whilst Anarchy went for Thor. Judge Shred 2½ tried driving around Revolution 2, but Revolution 2 hit the side of Judge Shred 2½ with its spinning blades, with one of the blades puncturing the armour and getting stuck. Judge Shred 2½ and Revolution 2 struggled to get free of each other, with Revolution 2 turning around in circles.

"Intrigued to see the weaponry of Revolution 2 here, at its finest, immediately coming crumpling down onto the top of Judge Shred 2½..."
— Jonathan Pearce as Revolution 2 attacks Judge Shred 2½, but gets stuck
Thor vs Revolution 2 vs Judge Shred 2

Judge Shred 2½ bears the brunt of everyone's attacks

Meanwhile, Thor turned to attack Anarchy, firing its hammer, but missed as it was not close enough. Anarchy also fired its axe, but also missed. Anarchy reversed, and aimed for Judge Shred 2½, walking straight at it and firing the axe, but in doing so, it went onto the front flipper, and Judge Shred 2½ flipped Anarchy up and off the flipper. Thor drove after Anarchy and fired the hammer, but missed again. As Thor reversed away, Anarchy tried pushing Judge Shred 2½ again, but went onto the flipper again, and Judge Shred 2½ flipped it up again. Anarchy reversed, then went for Revolution 2, and as it did so, Revolution 2 turned, forcing Judge Shred 2½ to the side of Anarchy. Anarchy fired the axe at Revolution 2, which slid off one of the blades and hit the body, whilst Judge Shred 2½ got its flipper under the side of Anarchy and flicked it up. Judge Shred 2½ held Anarchy up with its flipper, and Thor drove behind it and hit it with its hammer. Judge Shred 2½ lowered its flipper, and Revolution 2 got its blades free of the side of Judge Shred 2½. Thor landed another hammer blow on the top of Judge Shred 2½, and Anarchy got at the other side of Judge Shred 2½ and axed it, hitting the flipper.

"Judge Shred takes a blow there from Thor ... Also, Anarchy in there with a couple of blows, and they're all having a go at the judge!"
— Jonathan Pearce as Thor hammers and Anarchy axes Judge Shred 2½
AnarchyflipsRevolution2

Anarchy flips Revolution 2 to try and separate it from Judge Shred 2½

Thor hammered Judge Shred 2½ again, and Judge Shred 2½ reversed and turned away, getting under the side of Revolution 2 and flipping it up. Anarchy rammed into the side of Judge Shred 2½, and Revolution 2 sped away. Anarchy axed Judge Shred 2½, and Judge Shred 2½ got at Anarchy's side and pushed back. Judge Shred 2½ got away from Anarchy, but Thor drove at its side, hitting the top with the hammer again, but Judge Shred 2½ had its flipper under one of Thor's claws, and flipped Thor up. Before it could get away, Revolution 2 drove at its rear with its blades spinning, and one of the blades punctured the back and got stuck. Thor hit Judge Shred 2½ with the hammer again as Revolution 2 pulled at Judge Shred 2½, but couldn't get free. Judge Shred 2½ moved forwards, dragging Revolution 2 with it, and Thor landed another hammer blow before reversing away. Anarchy had been chasing Revolution 2, but this caused it to drive onto a flame jet, and as Judge Shred 2½ dragged Revolution 2, it reversed off the flames, getting the flipper under the side of Judge Shred 2½ and flipping it, but this did not knock it fee of the blades of Revolution 2.

"Judge Shred 2½ is bearing the brunt of all this."
— Jonathan Pearce
JudgeShredbetween3opponents

Judge Shred 2½ is attacked by its opponents

Revolution 2 pushed Judge Shred 2½, and Anarchy got behind Revolution 2 with its flipper, and though Revolution 2 tried turning to avoid the flipper, Anarchy flipped it. Revolution 2's blade was still stuck in the back of Judge Shred 2½, but Judge Shred 2½ managed to drive under the side of Thor and lift it up with its flipper. Anarchy got at Judge Shred 2½'s side, but Judge Shred 2½ reversed, and Anarchy fired the flipper by mistake, then missed an axe blow. Judge Shred 2½ tried turning to get free of Revolution 2's blade, but Thor charged into it and gave it another hammer blow, whilst Anarchy got at the other side and axed Judge Shred 2½.

"This is very even. Very, very even at the moment."
— Jonathan Pearce
Dead Metal Revolution 2

Dead Metal slices Revolution 2

Revolution 2 was able to reverse away, and as Judge Shred 2½ got away from Thor, Revolution 2 drove after it, hitting the back with its blades spinning, pushing it into an angle grinder. However, Revolution 2's blade became stuck in the back of Judge Shred 2½ again. Whilst Thor fought Anarchy, Dead Metal came over, pushing Revolution 2, still attached to Judge Shred 2½, into the CPZ, and cutting into the frame, causing a huge shower of sparks.

"...what's happened here? Judge Shred 2½ against the arena side wall, and I wonder, in attacking it, has Revolution 2 immobilised itself? Dead Metal comes out with the saw blade, the sparks beginning to fly! And that armament of Revolution 2, as we heard from Roger Webb and Gordon Anderson - not its strong point!"
— Jonathan Pearce

Anarchy left Thor, reversed into the side of Judge Shred 2½ and flipped it, knocking it free of the blade, and throwing it against the side wall. Judge Shred 2½ used its srimech to get off the wall, but Thor blocked it, so it fell onto its back again. It managed to self-right, but Thor was right behind it and hammered it again, buckling one of the top panels. Before Judge Shred 2½ could get away, Thor hammered it again.

"They bashed down using the srimech, the self-righting mechanism, but it hasn't been a great display by Judge Shred 2½."
— Jonathan Pearce

Judge Shred 2½ drove under the side of Revolution 2, but Revolution 2 turned off the flipper before Judge Shred 2½ fired, causing Judge Shred 2½ to miss. After accidentally reversing into Dead Metal, Judge Shred 2½ tried to get under the back of Revolution 2, but Revolution 2 drove away, so Judge Shred 2½ missed again. Revolution 2 was flipped over, and because it only had casters on one side to make the weight limit, it became suck on its own spinning blades. Thor drove behind it, and Anarchy got its flipper under the front and flipped it up, but not over.

"You look through the innards, there, you can see eight legs independently walking, but barely a wobble, in the movement of Anarchy. It's the first time we've seen a walker in the history of Robot Wars so balanced."
— Jonathan Pearce, impressed by Anarchy's engineering and design
Anarchy vs Judge Shred 2 vs Thor

Judge Shred 2½ flips Anarchy

Thor drove at the side of Judge Shred 2½ and tried to hit it with the hammer, but Judge Shred 2½ flicked it up with the flipper as it fired the hammer. As Thor reversed, Judge Shred 2½ turned and got the flipper under the front of Anarchy, flicking it up a little, then drove away as Thor charged at the side of Anarchy, hitting it with its hammer. Thor got under the side of Thor, flipping it up, then driving underneath it so that it landed on top of it as it fell. Anarchy axed Judge Shred 2½. whilst Revolution 2 was counted out by Refbot.

"Revolution, to me, has been immobilised, they're in trouble, Roger and Gordon, and they're being counted out. Now that's a shame, because it was innovative and good fun, but in the end, to get the great weaponry in, it was out of kilter, wasn't it? Out of balance for Robot Wars, and they're out, Revolution 2."
— Jonathan Pearce as Revolution 2 is counted out
Revolution 2 out

Refbot counts outs Revolution 2

Judge Shred 2½ got out from underneath Thor, then turned around, getting its flipper under the side of Thor and lifting it up. Cease was called, and the Judges were required to decide which of the remaining three competitors would be eliminated alongside Revolution 2.

"Revolution 2, right in the thick of it, so too Judge Shred, but that took damage from Thor, more than once ... Anarchy, very good throughout, I felt. They've done enough, surely ... Judge Shred flipped, they could go on the Judges' decision"
— Jonathan Pearce reviews the highlights

The Judges decided to put Anarchy and Thor through, eliminating Judge Shred 2½.

"Revolution 2 are out, soo to the judges, sent down! Thor going through with Anarchy!"
— Jonathan Pearce after the battle

Qualified: Anarchy & Thor

Round 2[]

Tornado (12) vs Thor[]

"Here with a hammer, and the claws of Thor, against the push-ability of Tornado. See, it just persistently nudges, drives, pushes, comes again, Tornado, and I wonder if the Thor team, Jason Marston and Lee Cornish, have enough experience here."
— Jonathan Pearce in the opening moments of the battle
Tornado Thor 1

Thor's left pincer is buckled by Tornado

Both robots started by driving forwards, with Tornado getting at Thor's side as it turned around. Tornado rammed Thor, hitting it with the drum, and pushed it to the flame pit, but drove onto the flame pit itself as it did so. Both robots reversed off the flame pit together, and as Thor turned around, Tornado got at the side again and rammed it down the arena, towards the pit release, but Thor was able to turn away from Tornado. Tornado reversed for another charge, and rammed into the front of Thor. Thor hit the top of Tornado with its hammer, but this did no damage.

"They [The Thor Team] certainly have the weaponry to be destructive, but Tornado already coming forward – another attack, nagging, worrying and bending and buckling, one of those pincers, it seemed to be!"
— Jonathan Pearce comments on Thor’s inexperience as it weathers attacks from Tornado
Tornado vs Thor

A panel falls off Thor.

Tornado reversed, and drove across the arena, and as Thor moved away from the wall, Tornado charged into the back of one of the pincers, buckling it down. Tornado reversed, and Thor turned around, and when Tornado tried ramming Thor, Thor turned off of Tornado's front, and landed another hammer blow, hitting one of the rear wheels, but it merely bounced off as Tornado drove away. It accidentally drove into Growler's CPZ as it did so, but quickly escaped and rammed into Thor's side again. Tornado drove away and turned around for another charge, and as it drove into Thor's front, Thor hit Tornado's top with the hammer again.

"Down comes the axe! Frightening when it thrusts down like that!"
— Jonathan Pearce as Thor lands a hammer blow on Tornado
ThorpushesTornado

Thor uses its hammer and pincers to push Tornado

Tornado reversed, and Thor turned, exposing its side and allowing Tornado to ram it into Sgt. Bash. Thor got away, but its hammer was stuck in the fired position, because Tornado's ramming had caused a hole in the pneumatic line, causing the CO2 to vent leaving no power for the hammer[2]. As Tornado drove up the arena for another charge, Thor swerved into the pit release, and Tornado charged at it, slamming into the back, knocking off a side panel. Thor moved away from the wall as Tornado reversed, but Tornado rammed into it, pushing it by the pit as it descended. Thor drove away up the arena, but Tornado charged after it, ramming into Thor as it turned around. After pushing it a little, both robots reversed. Tornado charged at Thor, but drove into its hammer instead of the body, and suddenly Growler sped out of his CPZ, slamming into Tornado. Thor managed to push Tornado back using its hammer, and though Tornado struggled against it, Thor pushed them round in a circles as it spun, and Tornado couldn't get away because it was caught in one of Thor's pincers, despite it being buckled.

"What were they made out of? I think they're made out of that aluminium foil you put around the chicken, in the oven. They're about to be roasted, Thor!"
— Jonathan Pearce on Thor's pincers
Thornearlyreversesintothepit

Thor nearly reverses into the pit

After some pushing and pulling, Tornado managed to get free and Thor reversed down the arena. As Tornado drove after it, it spun on the spot, but then reversed, almost falling into the pit. Thor got away from the pit, but Tornado rammed it into a CPZ, against the corner, and it struggled to escape as Growler charged over, due to its large shape. As Growler charged over, he collided with Tornado, and as Thor managed to turn away from the wall, Growler pushed it against the wall, and Sgt. Bash came over to block its escape. Growler rammed Thor against the wall, forced it back into the CPZ, and bit into the top, grabbing it and pulling it up the arena, then turned, hitting Tornado with Thor.

"…but the Thor team, I think is about to buckle. A team of Formula One and Liverpool football fans, well, their road to Wembley, as it were, is about to end here! Last on the grid!"
— Jonathan Pearce as Thor is attacked by Growler
Thor pincer damage

Thor is rammed against the wall by Growler - note the damaged pincers

Growler then pulled Thor over the flame pit, before letting it go. Tornado tried charging at Thor, but Growler drove into it, blocking the way. Growler reversed, and Tornado drove at Thor's front, pushing it back a little, then reversed for another charge, before pushing Thor to the edge of the pit. Thor reversed, but drove right by Sgt. Bash, who pushed it by the pit. Tornado rammed Thor against Sgt. Bash, then into the wall, and Sgt. Bash got Thor's hammer by the handle between his pincers. Tornado slammed into the back of Thor a few more times, and Thor couldn't get away from the wall, instead driving into the CPZ.

"Look how bent and bruised it [Thor] is - the Tornado team have been as persistent as ever."
— Jonathan Pearce
Tornado Thor

A limping Thor is attacked by Tornado and Sgt. Bash

Thor tried to turn away from the wall, but Tornado and Sgt. Bash pushed against it, and Sgt. Bash got the hammer handle between his pincers again. Eventually, Thor managed to reverse out of the CPZ and turn away from the wall, but as it drove past Sgt. Bash, he blasted it with his flamethrower and chased after it, pushing it. As Sgt. Bash reversed, Tornado got at Thor's side, pushing it to the centre of the the arena, and though Thor struggled against it, Tornado then pushed it to the side of the arena, right outside Growler's CPZ. Thor turned away, nearly reversing onto a flame pit, and as it drove forwards and tried to turn, Growler pushed it away from the CPZ. Tornado rammed into the other side, pushing it away from Growler and knocking off another side panel.

"Well… I’ll tell you what, top marks for Thor… for their competitiveness… and their bravery… and that’s a fairly resolute machine they’ve got out there, as well."
— Jonathan Pearce as Thor survives to a Judges’ decision

In the last few seconds, Tornado reversed, avoided Thor as it reversed at it, then rammed into the side, then reversed and rammed into the front. Growler drove across the arena, bumping into Tornado's bottom corner, but Tornado kept ramming until time ran out, sending the battle to the Judges.

"Don't think there's much doubt, do you? Okay, Thor got a hammer blow in, but Tornado back again, and again, and again. Constant driving, Thor into the CPZ, took damage from Growler, and surely the result is clear, isn't it?"
— Jonathan Pearce reviews the highlights

The Judges ruled in favour of Tornado, putting them through to the Heat Final. After the battle, Tornado captain Andrew Marchant revealed that the fur lining on Thor's hammer had succeeded in disabling Tornado's drum.

"Their fur edging managed to clog our disc and broke two of our drive belts, jamming up the disc with one of the broken belts."
— Team Tornado on the damage done by Thor's fur.[3]

Winner: Tornado

Inshredable vs Anarchy[]

"Gotta admit, I'm intrigued by Anarchy. It's not the slowest walker we've seen either, in Robot Wars history. Inshredable ... those tyres look very exposed, and I wonder whether Peter Willmott, Martin Campbell & Kris Brooks have the experience against Mike Franklin"
— Jonathan Pearce in the early moments of the battle
Anarchyaxe

Anarchy's first attack

At the start, Anarchy marched towards Inshredable, whilst Inshredable drove forwards, then turned around, before driving up the arena, driving onto the floor flipper. Inshredable turned around, then stopped, and Anarchy walked over to it, got behind it and axed it. Inshredable regained mobility, turning away from Anarchy, but stopped again, and Anarchy got beside it and axed it again. Inshredable tried to get away, but Anarchy got its front scoop under the side and began pushing Inshredable, axing it again. Inshredable turned away, and drove away from Anarchy, but drove in front of Growler, who pushed it away from the CPZ. Inshredable moved forwards slowly, then turned around as Anarchy walked towards it with the flipper. Anarchy easily got the flipper under the disc and flipped Inshredable to the edge of Sgt. Bash's CPZ, then flipped it in front of Sgt. Bash. Sgt. Bash grabbed Inshredable's frame with his pincers and dragged it back into the CPZ.

"The flipper, in underneath Inshredable! Exposing the 1 centimetre ground clearance, and Anarchy has weight, and weaponry to match this time! And you could be looking at a robot to go all the way! I'm not talking about Inshredable, 'cause they're not going to go a lot further now that Sgt. Bash has got them in his grips!"
— Jonathan Pearce as Anarchy flips Inshredable to Sgt. Bash
Inshredable on arena wall

Growler rams Inshredable against the wall

Whilst Sgt. Bash fired his flamethrower, Anarchy used its flipper to lift Inshredable up. Sgt. Bash continued torching Inshredable, then let it go, but it couldn't get away because Anarchy walked right up to it and axed it. Inshredable had stopped moving by this point, so Anarchy pushed it and gave it another axe blow, then turned around and flipped it against the top arena wall. Growler pushed it, but this did not knock it off the wall, so Sgt. Bash pushed it off the wall.

"They've done well to get to this stage, but they've met a very good, and mean machine here, in Anarchy."
— Jonathan Pearce on Inshredable
Anarchy Inshredable

Anarchy attacks Inshredable

Anarchy walked up to it and axed it, whilst Refbot drove over to count Inshredable out. As Refbot began counting Inshredable out, Anarchy turned around and flipped Inshredable against Refbot, with Inshredable becoming stuck on Refbot's wedge. Refbot tried reversing to let Inshredable off, but Anarchy flipped it against him again, knocking off Refbot's camera, as the count hit 10. Growler came from behind to push Refbot and Inshredable, separating them.

"And Inshredable about to be counted out, and into a little piece of peace and quiet, I would imagine. Invertible, that won't worry it, being flipped like that. Smashing against the Refbot, and counted out! Anarchy look very good, don't they? The Refbot shrugs aside Inshredable with ease, why, with the ease that Anarchy did so as well!"
— Jonathan Pearce as Inshredable is counted out
Anarchy vs Inshredable

Inshredable counted out. Notice Refcam has fallen off Refbot at the bottom of the picture (click to enlarge)

Growler then grabbed the side of Inshredable in his jaws, and pulled it down the arena. After spinning it and shaking it, Growler took Inshredable to the flame pit and held it there, whilst Sgt. Bash opened the pit. Growler turned Inshredable around, took it to the pit and dropped it in.

"Well, we don't need the judges for that one. Inshredable go out, Anarchy go marching on!"
— Craig Charles

After the battle, the Inshredable team admitted that the blade had not worked at all due to the damage they had received in the first round, which had caused the motor to stop working.

Winner: Anarchy

Final[]

"So Anarchy have survived Judge Shred 2½ and Inshredable as well and go onto the Heat Final, where they will meet the number twelve seeds Tornado."
— Jonathan Pearce

Tornado (12) vs Anarchy[]

Before the battle, Jonathan Pearce was joined by Judge Martin Smith in the crow's nest to discuss the Heat Finalists. Although Martin Smith had to remain impartial as a Judge, Jonathan Pearce backed Tornado to win.

"Against any other machine, a walker might have done it. Not for me here, it's Tornado!"
— Jonathan Pearce's prediction

For this fight, Tornado changed the disc it had used in its previous two battles to a static spike, to try and pierce the polycarbonate side panels of Anarchy.

Anarchy Tornado

Both robots come together near the flame pit

Tornado started by speeding towards Anarchy, then driving at the front scoop. Anarchy turned a little and fired the axe, but Tornado reversed, so Anarchy missed. Tornado drove back at the scoop, but Anarchy turned, so Tornado reversed. Tornado drove at the scoop with the spike, and reversed before Anarchy could fire the axe, and Anarchy missed with the axe again. Anarchy walked forwards, and Tornado drove into its front, then quickly reversed and drove past Anarchy. Anarchy tried turning after Tornado, but Tornado was much too fast, driving past the front, and driving at the scoop again, reversing as Anarchy tried firing the axe. Tornado drove back at Anarchy's scoop, and Anarchy began to fire the axe, but stopped it and retracted it when the axe was only halfway up. Tornado got its spike at the side of Anarchy and pushed it up the arena into the top arena wall.

"Anarchy, almost twice the weight [of Tornado], not as manoeuvrable, we know that, and can the spike spear through that heavy-duty plastic armour?"
— Jonathan Pearce
Tornado vs Anarchy

Tornado rams its spike under Anarchy's flipper

Anarchy walked away from the wall, and Tornado kept after it, but this allowed Anarchy to use its flipper to flip Tornado over. Tornado quickly turned around and drove at Anarchy, but drove at the flipper again, allowing Anarchy to flip it a second time. Tornado drove past Anarchy, and attempted to ram it as it turned, but drove onto the flipper again, and Anarchy flipped it again. Tornado turned around, and charged at Anarchy, but this time, as it got close to the flipper, it stopped and reversed. This tactic worked, as Anarchy instinctively fired the flipper, and while the flipper was up, Tornado took advantage, getting under the flipper and ramming Anarchy against the middle arena entry gate, pinning it again.

"Oh, and have they [Anarchy] exposed themselves there? Trying to flick again, they have! Tornado with the spike, right into the very machinery of Anarchy!"
— Jonathan Pearce

Anarchy pushes Tornado back

Despite Tornado's pushing, Anarchy managed to push back against Tornado, getting free of the wall and turning. Tornado tried pushing, then reversed, and drove down the arena. Anarchy walked down the arena after it, and Tornado rammed into the front before driving around the back. Tornado drove around Anarchy, then drove down the arena to hit the pit release button. As the pit opened, Tornado drove back up the arena at Anarchy, getting at the side, but it couldn't get much traction to push. Tornado reversed and drove onto Anarchy's flipper, reversing off before it fired. Anarchy fired the flipper, allowing Tornado to charge in and push, but Anarchy turned, and Tornado reversed. Tornado drove around Anarchy, briefly driving onto the flame pit, then reversed into Anarchy's side, attempting to push it in reverse.

"Tornado, I think, are the more aggressive and destructive of the two. And that's key should it go to the Judges."
— Jonathan Pearce as Tornado pushes Anarchy in reverse

Anarchy throws Tornado over

The two machined turned around together, but Tornado could not get much of an advantage, so drove away. Tornado charged into the back of Anarchy, reversing to dodge the flip, and got under the flipper again. It pushed Anarchy a little, then reversed, before using the same tactic again, though this time it did not drive under the flipper, instead driving around to Anarchy's front, trying to push, but couldn't get any traction against it, so reversed and tried again, but still couldn't get an advantage.

"...but for me, Tornado has the measure, now, of Anarchy. You see there, the quicker across the arena floor. They can move away from any potential attack - clear the danger, and come again on an onslaught."
— Jonathan Pearce

Dead Metal attacks Anarchy

After reversing, Tornado drove around to Anarchy's front corner and tried pushing, but this didn't work, so it reversed. Anarchy turned around, and Tornado drove at the flipper. This time however, Anarchy managed to flip Tornado before it reversed, though this did not affect Tornado as it was invertible, and Tornado managed to reverse under the flipper plate before it closed, and push Anarchy into the bottom arena wall by Dead Metal's CPZ. Dead Metal drove at Tornado, and Tornado drove away. As Anarchy tried reversing away from the CPZ, Dead Metal got at the side and cut into it with his saw, before letting it go. Tornado drove at the scoop, giving Anarchy a little push, then reversed, then drove at the scoop again, pushing Anarchy again, and when Anarchy fired the axe, it missed because Tornado's pushes had changed the angle it was facing. Tornado drove into Anarchy's side, reversed, then drove into the front, and though Anarchy fired the axe, Tornado reversed to dodge it. In the last few seconds, Tornado drove into the front corner and pushed a little, then reversed, then rammed into the side, pushing Anarchy towards the wall. Time ran out and the battle went to a judges' decision.

"Well they [the Tornado team] deserve to be smug, because it was another very performance by Tornado. Doesn't matter that they were pushed and rolled by Anarchy, there they got in and caused damage, and again, and were on top throughout for me. Anarchy, good machine, very good machine, splendid design."
— Jonathan Pearce reviews the highlights

The judges decided to eliminate Anarchy and put Tornado through to the series Semi-Finals for the second time.

"Well, I think if I'd have actually got the weapons under control, I'd have probably done a lot better. ... We've had no practice with it. It was only finished the night before we came, and there was no time to practice... axing things and flipping things."
— Mike Franklin on Anarchy's out-of-sync weapons control
