Alongside the Pinball and Robotic Soccer Trials, Robot Wars: The Third Wars featured three Special Events broadcast between the first and second rounds of selected Heats. These included the Middleweight Melee and two exhibition Walker Battles dedicated to walking robots.
Other events were also originally intended to take place, but cancelled at the last minute due to a behind-the-scenes accident in The Pits. These cancelled events included the Middleweight Championship, Lightweight Championship, Super Heavyweight Championship and an earlier iteration of Sumo Basho.[1] One-off Grudge Matches and a Tag Team competition were also planned, but cancelled under the same circumstances.[2]
