Craig Charles: "Welcome, to the war zone! Welcome, to the temple of drama, where chaos reigns, and rules are like robots. They're there to be broken, smashed... pulverised into submission! So... are you ready, to go EXTREME?"
Audience: "Yeah!"
Craig Charles: "Get ready for anythin'. And tonight, an old score between Razer and Pussycat threatens to get settled once... and for all!"
Craig Charles' introduction

Episode 4 of Robot Wars Extreme: Series 1 was originally broadcast on 11 October 2001 on BBC Choice and repeated on 16 November 2001 on BBC Two.

Like most episodes of Extreme 1, it featured battles from multiple competitions which ran throughout the entire series, as well as a main event. Here, the main event was a Vengeance match between Razer and Pussycat, the latter of which defeated the incumbent World Champion in the Heat Finals of The Fourth Wars.

The BBC Two broadcast managed to attract 3.71 million viewers, a decrease of 30,000 viewers when compared with the previous episode. According to BARB, this meant it ranked seventh in the top thirty highest rated BBC 2 broadcasts during 12-18 November, between Neighbours and Band of Brothers.

Main Event[]

"Yes, Craig, tonight's main event has been eagerly awaited by Robot Wars fans across the globe, it's the ultimate Vengeance battle between the current World Champion Razer and the awesome Pussycat! But whilst the teams oil themselves down and wind each other up, lets take a look at our other excuses for pure metal carnage on tonight's show. We've two awesome All-Stars battles with Wild Thing facing the powerful axe of Dominator 2 and then Tornado kicks up a storm against 3 Stegs 2 Heaven. Newcomer Spider take on the monstrous might that is the beast of Behemoth, and we've a metal mashing Mayhem where Splinter will face Killertron and the angry Aggrobot! Then tonight's main event, Razer against Pussycat, and Razer are in the pits with a grudge to bear!"
— Jonathan Pearce previews the episode

The main event of Episode 4 was a vengeance battle between Razer and Pussycat. The latter had defeated the former in the heat final of Heat B of Series 4. Pussycat caused major damage to a disabled Razer, and team captain Ian Lewis was unhappy with the way that Pussycat had treated Razer, claiming that the team had broken a "Gentleman's Agreement" not to cause excessive damage.

"In the fourth wars, Pussycat beat us up when we were immobilised, and we're not happy about that at all"
— Ian Lewis of Team Razer

Trivia[]

  • Every battle except Dominator 2 vs Wild Thing featured a team that would finish in the top 4 of the UK Championship, with 6 such finalists appearing across the other four battles.
  • This episode featured the only battle in which Razer was immobilised as a direct result of an opponent's attack, rather than by its own internal problems.
  • This episode marked the final appearance of Killertron, making it the final appearance of any robot that fought in the very first episode of the UK Series.
  • During Killertron's introduction to the arena for its Mayhem battle, a recycled audio clip is used of Stuart McDonald announcing its name and location. The audio clip itself originates from its previous appearance in Series 4, Heat H.
  • Despite The Spider being featured as the newcomer for the purposes of the Wild Card Warrior, the team had previously competed on Robot Wars with Robocow. The actual newest team in Episode 4 was Tornado, with every other team having debuted in Series 3 or earlier.
  • In addition to the focus of Razer's rematch with Pussycat, this episode also featured Aggrobot, who had defeated Razer in Series 3, and Behemoth, the robot to win Razer's heat in Series 2 by defeating Inquisitor (the robot to defeat Razer).
