Serpant (alternatively named SerpAnt) was an antweight robot which competed in the Antweight Championship of the second series of Robot Wars Extreme. Despite surviving to a Judges' decision in its qualifying heat, it was eliminated there during its only televised appearance, itself shown as a partial recap.
Design[]
Serpant in the arena
Serpant was a silver, two-wheel drive robot armed with a dual-action crusher and lifter. The crusher/lifter was designed to work in tandem, allowing it to clamp and lift opponents simultaneously. The robot itself also featured a pair of small wedges either side of the lifter which enabled it to get underneath opponents more easily, as well as a set of three metal plates mounted on top of the weapon mechanism.
Etymology[]
The name Serpant was a pun on "Serpent" using the term "ant" in reference to the weight class. Jonathan Pearce consistently referred to the robot as "The Serpent".

Extreme 2[]
Serpant competed solely in the Antweight Championship, broadcast as part of the Robot Rampage episode. In its heat, it fought Buzzant, Lower, Militant, Minimalistic and returning antweight Pants.

Serpant is axed by Pants
Serpant immediately raised its weapon at the start before slowly crawling across the arena towards the Floor Spinner. Struggling to turn and drive forwards effectively, Serpant saw little involvement until it grabbed and lifted Buzzant, only to be pushed itself by Lower and attacked from the side by Minimalistic. Again, Serpant was pushed by Lower, before being repeatedly axed by Pants in a CPZ next to the half-immobilised Militant. In the process, it and Lower blocked Pants from driving out of the CPZ, although this was not enough for Serpant to win the subsequent Judges' decision over either of its surviving opponents. As a result, it was eliminated from the Antweight Championship.

Outside Robot Wars[]
Serpant and Mr Duck
Serpant also competed in the ninth Antweight World Series where it managed to get to the second round before losing to Rebel and Pants[3]. The team also built a fleaweight called Mr Duck. Outside of robot combat, the team captain builds walking robots such as Stompy.
