"Sharky arrived a little overweight at 90kgs and was entered into the Super Heavyweight category for series 3. Unfortunately a week before Sharky was due to attend filming, we were notified that due to reasons beyond Mentorn's control the super heavyweight and other categories had to be cancelled."
— The Tiger Shark website

Sharky was a superheavyweight turned heavyweight competitor robot that entered the Super Heavyweight Championship in Series 3 of Robot Wars, but the event was cancelled, and it was converted to a heavyweight for its subsequent attempts to qualify for the main series.

The team also entered Series 2 with a middleweight robot called Scorpion (not related to the later heavyweight entry), which lost its only battle after catching fire and did not appear on television. They later failed to qualify for Series 5 with Tiger Shark and Series 7 with Termigator.

The original Sharky that applied for the Series 3 Super Heavyweight Championship was a box-shaped robot painted grey and white to resemble a shark, with the robot's front depicting the shark's nostrils and opened mouth. Not much is currently known about its weapons, armour or drive systems, or what modifications it received when it was converted into a heavyweight for Series 4, other than its weight being reduced from 90kg to 79.4kg.

Sharky's certificate of participation at the Series 4 qualifiers

Sharky was first built for Series 3, where it arrived at the studio to participate in the Super Heavyweight Championship. However, the safety incident responsible for various filming delays led to the event being cancelled, and Sharky ultimately did not compete.

After being converted into a heavyweight design, Sharky attempted to enter Series 4 through attending the Robot Mayhem live event, fighting at least one head-to-head battle against an as-yet unidentified opponent. Despite lasting to the end of the battle and winning by an audience vote, Sharky would fail to qualify.[1]

"The qualifying fight went well but as both robots were still mobile at the end it came down to an audience decision. Sharky won, however, we did not get through due to the high number of competitors that entered."
