- "Staglet, a mini Stag"
- — Jonathan Pearce, stating the obvious.
Staglet was a robot that was entered by Team Bodge-it in the Series 7 Featherweight Championship. It performed moderately well in its only battle, grabbing and pushing other robots around until it drove into the pit by accident, and was eliminated.
Design[]
Staglet was a downsized version of the team's heavyweight robot The Stag, at one tenth of the weight. This made Staglet an invertible, two-wheeled robot with a pair of machined horizontal crushing claws on the front, powered by a linear actuator. A small wedge also guided other robots into the grip of the claws. Staglet's wheels were exposed but provided a high top speed of 10mph on drill motors.
Robot History[]
Series 7[]
In its Featherweight melee, Staglet fought previous finalists Bernard and Cutlet, also Alienator, DTK, walkerbot Mammoth and Typhoon Cadet.
Staglet began by attacking Cutlet, previous featherweight finalists, from the side, holding it in place with its pincers. It then reversed into Bernard, and turned to face it, before shoving it into the arena wall. Staglet attacked Mammoth by attempting to dig under its front, but it failed to do so.
After this, Staglet grabbed Alienator, driving it around the arena by holding onto it from both sides with the pincers, and pushing it into the path of Typhoon Cadet a couple of times near the Flame Pit. Alienator fought back though, pushing against Staglet's drive so that it couldn't shove forwards.
- "Good driving there by Terry - David's his tactician - now who's doing the pushing and who's doing the pulling between Staglet and Alienator?"
- — Jonathan Pearce
After letting go of Alienator, Staglet slid underneath Mammoth, who was almost flipped over by DTK a split second beforehand. DTK then went after Staglet, flipping the invertible machine over and chasing it around the arena briefly, and eventually caught up to Staglet and flipped it over once more.
Staglet clashed with Bernard and DTK in the centre of the arena next, but then disaster struck. As Mammoth slowly pitted Cutlet, Staglet was itself pushed and pressured towards the pit by DTK, and it reversed into the pit.
- "Oh dear, Staglet, they were so good, and they've driven themselves in!"
- — Jonathan Pearce, as Staglet drives into the pit.
This self-pitting eliminated Staglet, and it and Cutlet were later joined in the pit by Mammoth and Typhoon Cadet. The battle eventually went to a judges' decision, where DTK and Bernard were sent through to the final.

Outside Robot Wars[]
Although little is known about any potential battles Staglet may have fought outside of Robot Wars, it did make an appearance at Petrol Heads 2003 as a static display alongside The Stag.
Trivia[]
- Staglet drove into the pit in the same series that the team's heavyweight also drove into the pit.
