Hypnodisc’s bad day

Bigger Brother wouldn’t have come back if Hypnodisc was still attacking --[[Special:Contributions/71.219.23.54|71.219.23.54]] 13:30, June 7, 2019 (UTC)

Srimech

Does anybody know whether Hypno-Disc ever used its srimech other than during the Series 5 battle against Atomic? I can only remember it being used once, which I think is an interesting note to add to the article, but I could easily be forgetting some. Were there any others or can I add it? Christophee (talk) 14:14, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

The All-Stars fight with Behemoth was the other. ManUCrazy 14:32, November 30, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, having looked at Hypno's results table, the only other time it was flipped over was against Dantomkia and it didn't have a chance to use its srimech then. Funny how Hypno rarely went against Flippers, only really Bulldog Breed twice.

Vandalism

Does anybody have a huge "RAZER IS THE BEST HAHA" message at the top of this page? It looks like some sort of template, but I can't find it anywhere in the page's code so I don't know how to remove it. Christophee (talk) 12:19, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

Hmm...it disappeared after I edited the results table. How very odd. Christophee (talk) 12:27, January 20, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, unfortunatly, that's the word of "Idiotic Razer fanboy" IP vandal 87.106.140.33....who has been banned for his disruptive behaviour. That message is ALL he contributed. CBFan (talk) 12:28, January 20, 2010 (UTC)
I figured it was him that did it. But I don't understand how it was put there and why it suddenly disappeared. Do you know how it works? Christophee (talk) 12:33, January 20, 2010 (UTC)
Well, I got rid of it by reverting to the last edit before the current one (even though I lost what was already included). CBFan (talk) 12:37, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

dont you think that the Mat Irvine name at the top should have a link or not?

He will eventually get an article so it makes sense to have a link for when that actually happens. The same goes for any wanted article. Christophee (talk) 02:13, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

Roaming Robots

Hi, i was told that Hypno-Disc did complete a roaming robots competition, so i added it in, it that ok? User:Duncs Kinnear-swift 22 February 2011, (UTC).

We only want to include competitions sanctioned by Mentorn. RA2; aka Resetti's Replicas. (My Talk) 21:46, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, ok User:Duncs Kinnear-swift

Series 7 Absence

I know that we have the quote from the website that said why Hypno-Disc was absent from Series 7, but is it really right that the quote is at the end of the Extreme 2 section of the Robot History? It implies that it was part of Extreme 2. Datovidny (talk) 19:16, April 3, 2012 (UTC)

I was thinking about doing a little section "The Team", because there is a great quote from the Ultimate Warrior DVD about how they decided to enter Robot Wars (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxNba8CaOqw), so I thought the page could have a little section with that quote, why Derek Rose was absent in the Series 3 Semi Final and Grand Final, along with why they were absent from Series 7 and did not compete in the 2016 series. Drop Zone mk2 (talk) 16:05, January 5, 2017 (UTC)
Sounds perfect to me. ToastUltimatum 17:43, January 5, 2017 (UTC)

Series 4 qualifier spotting

Hypno at s4 qualifier

This is strange. In this image, Hypno-Disc is at the series 4 qualifier, but surely it shouldn't be there after all it came runners up! (then again Bigger Brother and Sir Chromalot fought in the qualifiers too) From this image it seems Hypno and this unknown silver robot were in line to fight one another and interestingly enough it even has its Series 3 wheels. Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 17:01, March 30, 2016 (UTC)

Seeded robots did not have to fight battles at the Series 4 qualifiers. However, some of them were used for display and demonstrations in the arena. Just because that picture shows Hypnodisc and the unknown silver robot were both at the qualifiers, does not necessarilly mean they fought. Oh, and we have conclusively proven that Sir Chromalot and Bigger Brother did NOT fight at the Series 4 qualifiers, that turned out to be roboteers misremembering many years later. Drop Zone mk2 (talk) 20:37, March 30, 2016 (UTC)
Aww that's a shame, where's the proof about Sir C and Bigger Brother not fighting in the qualifiers because on the List of known qualifiers it said otherwise.Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 09:33, March 31, 2016 (UTC)
It was thought that Bigger Brother fought Banana-R Armour at the Series 4 qualifiers because of something John Findlay said on a Roaming Robots DVD, and Simon Rafferty of Barber-Ous claimed that Rotraktor (their first robot) fought Sir Chromalot at the Series 4 qualifiers in a email he sent to Toon Ganondorf (which you can see here http://robotwars.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Barber-Ous). However, searching through old pages on the Web Archive, we found the old Roaming Robots website, which says that Banana-R Armour fought an unknown aluminium square robot with a spike (http://web.archive.org/web/20030506061023/http://www.farbemeister.com/rrobots/banana.html), and the archived Rotrakor site says that it fought Steel Avenger at the qualifiers. (http://web.archive.org/web/20040529223700/http://www.psi-design.co.uk/ideas/Rotraktor/index.htm). Drop Zone mk2 (talk) 13:22, March 31, 2016 (UTC)

Removal of fourth place "honour"

Let's be honest. First place is the only one anyone cares about. I'll agree to second place and maybe third, but I think we need to remove fourth place. Basically it means they got to the Grand Final and lost two battles. It's not an honour. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 23:02, July 28, 2016 (UTC)

It's hugely honourable. Getting a position of "Grand Finalist" takes a lot of work, and a robot which came fourth like X-Terminator is in truth much more honourable than just winning something like a Best Engineered Award. It's particularly notable in 2016, because it means you got even further into the Grand Final than some of the others. To say that Killertron and Terrorhurtz never achieved anything of honour is bizarre. ToastUltimatum 02:45, July 29, 2016 (UTC)
It's honourable, but if you look at the honours we list - Robot Wars prizes, championships, tournaments and titles - fourth place really stands out. Terrorhurtz and Killertron achieved plenty, but they don't need a little grey box on their article to say so. What's the point of playing off for third if we essentially treat them the same? I think we should make it podium - first, second and third get honours, fourth gets noted but not honours template. Once you've reached the grand final, there's nothing left to achieve to come fourth. The others have to do something to be set apart, and that makes them worthy of recognition. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 03:05, July 29, 2016 (UTC)
By that logic, there's no difference between third and second, because they also look the same on the wiki. I firmly stand by my stance, you'll need more people on your side to get something like this removed. ToastUltimatum 03:24, July 29, 2016 (UTC)
I'll be interested in what others say. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 05:29, July 29, 2016 (UTC)
Eh, honestly I'm inclined to agree with Toast. I think just the fact it's a finalist, in the top four, is honour enough, so they might as well be acknowledged for it. CrashBash (talk) 05:50, July 29, 2016 (UTC)
This is the line of thinking I'm ascribing to as well. Helloher Talk 16:25, July 29, 2016 (UTC)
Personally disagree. Considering there is four robots in the Grand Final, I do feel it's important to mention where they finished in it. We obviously can't distinguish things such as 5th place, but if we can - and this is case, we can - then we should mention where a robot finished. If we note that a robot gets to the first or second round of the Semi-Finals, we should do the same for robots who qualify as part of the final four. Nweston8 (talk) 13:12, July 29, 2016 (UTC)

Lego picture

Remove the Lego Hypno disk! Its blurry and nobody can see it.—Preceding unsigned comment added by LimCheeWingStudios (talkcontribs)

It's not ideal, but its not so bad that it should be removed. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 10:41, August 15, 2016 (UTC)
Something is better than nothing, again it's a pity that nobody recorded the Series 3 rerun on H2 earlier this year.--Voyanuitoa (talk) 10:53, August 15, 2016 (UTC)

Remove the old picture, BUT you can post a more clear picture of it, —Preceding unsigned comment added by LimCheeWingStudios (talkcontribs)

TX-108

I don't know about counting TX-108 as a loss for Hypno-Disc. The fight never went to air. We don't count qualifiers, or the exhibition bouts, and so if the battle was not aired it should not count as part of Hypno-Disc's official series record. Leave the battle in, but I say we should reduce Hypno-Disc's losses from 12 to 11. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 09:03, August 29, 2016 (UTC)

Agreed. Christophee (talk) 15:36, August 29, 2016 (UTC)
Also agree. Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 15:50, August 29, 2016 (UTC)
Go ahead and discount it, but leave a note underneath saying so, ala Infernal Contraption/Gabriel. ToastUltimatum 18:15, August 29, 2016 (UTC)

On another note, can this be expanded to the pilot battles as well? SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 16:44, August 29, 2016 (UTC)

Hm? Pilot battles have never been counted in the wins/losses tally, have they? ToastUltimatum 18:15, August 29, 2016 (UTC)
At the moment they are at least on this article. SpaceManiac888 (Talk) 18:42, August 29, 2016 (UTC)
