Name[]
Can anybody clear up if this is called Mesmer or Mesma? I've heard both. Helloher (Death is not my phone number) 22:24, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
- I know that there's an antweight called "Mesmer", I don't know if it's the same one that was in Robot Wars, but I have not come across a "Mesma" I'd stick with "er", because in cases like these, all we can do is go with the one that's more likely. - I agree with you. Helloher (Death is not my phone number) 08:30, October 28, 2009 (UTC)
Successor to Mesmer?[]
Found this, if it is the same Mesmer or from the same team, we now have a team member's name. Sam (BAZINGA) 13:56, September 20, 2013 (UTC)
Etymology[]
Would it be worth changing the etymology to Franz Mesmer, father of hypnotism? To me, it just seems more likely than an obscure film from years before Robot Wars (which is a biopic of him anyway), or that it's a 360-degree derivation going through "mesmerism." Without a doubt. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 03:11, July 31, 2020 (UTC)
- I would've said we just don't have an Etymology section. There's too many possibilities to narrow it down, really. TOAST 10:12, July 31, 2020 (UTC)
- I agree with Toast here, we're all speculating as to the reason, its just as likely they called it Mesmer because it sounds cool. --Voyanuitoa (talk) 10:26, July 31, 2020 (UTC)
- I thought we were swaying away from speculations? Besides the Team Website doesn't say anything I'm afraid. Diotoir the son of nemesis (talk) 10:32, July 31, 2020 (UTC)
